Maybe keep off the personal comments.

So are you saying that Sinn Fein do have the power in the North?

I never said 'SF have no power'. That is an out and out lie.
I have said the two jurisdictions are different and it wrong to compare like with like.

You aren't having a good day are you.

    Caught spoofing twice now.

Maybe stop saying 1 thing and a few posts later, stop contradicting yourself

You clearly stated it is an excuse SF use, then changed it to its an excuse used on a forum

I see you edited out the lie that I said they had no power. I will accept that as an apology.

Somebody else has posted how the power is distributed in NI, I suggest you read it and come back when you have educated yourself to the unique set-up NI is and how it is wrong to compare it to here.

Can we get back on topic, we already have plenty of threads on Irelands most popular and largest party on the island.

Worst ever start by a Govt here?

Ok I know it's tricky. Choice of venue needs to be far from the border and meat plants and Dublin and historic Black&Tan atrocities. A constituency that has TDs from all the main parties and no recent agriculture ministers. The pub can't be showing Sheffield games either. Not near Clifden. Low Covid numbers too...

    Where fits the bill?

We'll have to be careful where we pick, Shef is pretty much barred everywhere. Doesn't stop him trying to sneak past the doorman in drag though.

Cork your only man. Free Beamish for a certain poster who retracts xenophobia accusations!

Sophies bar in the Dean Hotel would be good, I hear they have a famous swing in there and if you fall off it you can claim 60,000 ;)

On second thought I didn't want to bring myself down to you're level.

Maybe answer the question. I doubt you will yet you call people "spoofer". Oh the irony.

Redgirl has questions, and by god 'she' wants answers.

Wow, seems like I touched a nerve with the regulars. Funny how one question can get such a reaction from so many people.

I answered it by pointing you towards a document that explains how NI works. Here it is again, in case you missed it.

    https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/overview-government-northern-ireland

And you can stop pretending about the lie you told by backing it up.

That is the level here, if you claim something and are asked to back it up, you are expected to do that.
You have failed twice today alone to back up when asked to do it. Which makes the 'spoofer' claim totally accurate.

Yes Francie, I admit I will never be at the level here. Never. I’m overjoyed to say it as well

In case you don’t realise, you have yet to back up anything, so you just called yourself a spoofer. That’s the level here alright

    Ok.

What have I not backed up?

Anyone know why the junior ministers are getting advisors? Is this usual?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,322 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

    :D:D:D:D

Is that the best you can do?

The only objection to Harris getting the job is on the basis of his past in a disgraced police force and his involvement in the cover up of the deaths of 120 people in a small geographical area and the Dublin Monaghan bombings.

It is you and blanch who are attempting to sectarianise that objection, nobody else.

Is everyone who previously worked in the RUC automatically suspect now Francie?
There are many people still in the PSNI who served in the RUC, are they all suspect now?

My highlighting of dual citizenship was to show that it's common that other countries exclude people holding dual citizenship for certain positions. .

You appear to be rowing back on your accusations now.

First of all he has an Irish passport and secondly he appears to be very good at his job. Dual citizenship does not preclude someone from a job in Ireland.

You seem to have very short memory as there was a huge clamour to have an outsider as commissioner of the Gardai after scandel embroiled two recent former commissioners.
Then the government appoint someone from the North and we get the popoulst, sectarian, xenophobic response.

If the guy was Canadian or a Kiwi would you have this much of an issue?
Should the job not have gone to an outsider?

I thought the government in North had no power? why the do they need 14 advisors?

14 advisors for a glorified county council.
    Hmmm

No Mark, just the ones in senior positions involved in 'unlawfully' shutting down inquiries into collusion and killings by the BA. There is no doubt this man was involved in that as he sat in court to hear the verdict.

My question is how do the government have the constitutional power to be keeping travel, businesses, entire industries in lockdown and driving them to permanent financial ruin? It's one thing to inact emergency temporary powers to deal with a disaster, but we are more than half a year into this and there is absolutely no plan or coherency or light at the end of the tunel. Are they an elected government that is held accountable for its actions, or an empire that cannot be questioned?

2020 will be remembered for many tragic and horrible things - but honestly the greatest catastrophe is our complete and total surrender of the principles of democracy and accountability.

The astonishing thing is that according to the polls more than half the country still support FG or FF. They are perfectly fine with all this.

Oh please, is that all you have? Honestly? Scrapping the bottom of the barrel to justify blatent xenophobia.
