    You are conflating different things.

Everybody is now aware of covid 19.

The vulnerable know that certain precautions will greatly decrease their chances of getting it.

For a majority of people it is nothing to worry about.

Those are all facts, like it or not. The problem is that government policy is still fighting the last battle, the one where the populace was not aware of the virus and needed blanket protection measures.

I think facts are different for both of us. Not gonna comment on the government part too much cuz I think they are fcuking useless, probably point we can agree on. Vulnerable knows, but still there's push saying this virus is just.. whatever, you won't even know u have it. And that push might come from family members, and sure you won't tell to your grandson to fcuk off, cuz hugs and etc.

Because they had been undermining the government all week with statements and leaks to RTE, et al, which contradicted elements of the five point plan.
In fact, theyt have done it again this morning with one of their number telling TodayFM that pubs and restaurants will have to stay closed for longer than the three week lockdown.
They have not allowed the five point plan to last even a week.

This is not positive and is very dangerous.

The people you are arguing with couldn't give a **** Niallo for you, your family, or the fact you work hard to support them.

Its so galling, the selfish attitude of protect me at all costs from Covid I deserve it, which displays an infantile understanding of how minimal the danger is from Covid

Just out of respect for Niallo losing job, didn't want answer this **** post of yours. I do give a damn. Job is important for all of us. To provide family. It's fcuking hard on all of us. But your belittling impact of infections of covid is helping fcuk all. If people just follow the BASIC rules, we wouldn't have this kind of topic to talk about. Simple. And now you can go back to stupid rant about your freedom and rights.

    This post is laughable.

The only thing laughable is the attitude being displayed by you and the many others attending parties etc who have no respect for the vital need to respect restrictions and stop the spread of this virus.

It’s causing people to get sick, die and causing people to lose jobs as if people would behave then the restrictions would not have to be reintroduced. So it’s your fault and people who behave like you.

396 is a really big number. Highest daily figure since may?

Those numbers in Dublin aren't exactly gonna come down in the coming weeks with scenes like those in the oliver bonds flats!

I am glad I got out for lunch on Friday because it could be longer than 3 weeks before bars and restaurants can open up again in Dublin

Covid hasn't caused anyone to lose their job.

Restrictions brought in have resulted in job losses.

Restrictions that are vital in order to keep the virus under control.

241 cases in Dublin alone, current restrictions aren’t near enough imo.

    Yes.

Are you actually saying covid caused job losses and not the restrictions?

We're not the ones getting hysterical about "cases".

"Oh no, somebody tested positive and has to sit at home watching NetFlix for the next two weeks!!! Quick shut something else down!!!"

Covid caused the restrictions which caused the job losses i.e. covid has caused the Job losses.

If you can’t understand why numbers of cases matter I’m not sure you are equipped with the ability to understand anything to do with the virus.

Why don't you just prove it. Or we'll say nah no virus, nah no sick people, nah no dead ones. Or we go the way Irish hospitals can manage. Fcuking fantasy all the way. Why can't we make citizens of this country to follow simple requirements to limit the spread? To avoid job losses, to avoid queues in hospitals(soon probably), make the schools operating within basic guidelines.

Still using bad words . What's next accusing me from fear mongering? Still goes down to you and your pals using hysteria, fear mongering, lockdowns etc....

Covid caused the restrictions which caused the job losses i.e. covid has caused the Job losses.

So it was restrictions brought in that caused job losses, thank you.

The government decided on the restrictions, not the virus.

They matter, but things need to be kept in perspective.

A tiny amount of people in this country are dying because of this.

Given that you think a virus cost someone their job, you should have a look closer to home when it comes to someone not being able to understand anything.

I don't need to disprove stupid claims. Like idiots asking for proof "god" doesn't exist.

There's always been queues in hospitals. Irish people have consistently voted for political parties who leave people to die on hospital trolleys. But you're only getting upset about it now?

There's no way anything will be open in Dublin in 3 weeks, unless they can reverse this trend they'll be on level 4 in 3 weeks.

Yes, and in a lot of cases with no good reason.

Stupid claims...hmmm ok, see all know god doesn't exist :pac:

Only getting upset now, right, took me 14 years of living and working here to figure it out. Doubt people are voting for dead folks on trolleys. But sure keep going on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,338 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

Well I personally dont ever remember a TD promising me dead people on trollies so Im not sure I had the option to vote for it

    No deaths again.

Covid doesn't seem to have gotten the memo that it's a killer virus.

The lunatic doomers are out in force in the restrictions thread today. The more cases with unaccompanied deaths the past few weeks has them on edge as the hysteria looks pretty embarrassing now. The second wave is only a casedemic, it is looking like the end of the whole thing is in sight and it has them scared that they will need a new excuse to be negative in their lives.

Is there any way to find out how many people were in ICU with respiratory illness this day last year? Or 2 years ago?

Unfortunately with the attitudes from a minority of people, some posting here covid is going nowhere nor are restrictions. 394 cases today driven by total idiots who can’t stay away from groups of people, house parties etc. Level 5 is a very real possibility in the coming weeks so thanks to all those ignoring restrictions and advice as it’s your doing.

The very people most anti restrictions are the ones causing them which is so funny when you think about it. Personally I’m not bothered, the lockdown was a positive period for me overall and I wouldn’t be bothered about entering another one.

Not talking about France or Poland. Living in Ireland, so this country is obviously my concern.

Tell NPHET that. They’re using outbreaks in bars and restaurants abroad to shut ours down.

Well unless we was lying, Philip Nolan (chair of NPHET) said on RTE radio although there's only been a few clusters in bars and restaurants when they ask questions and do contact tracing they find that pretty much everyone who tests positive was in a bar or restaurant in the previous 72 hours.

They aren't shutting them down for no reason despite how much you'd like to believe that. When they announced this I thought it was ridiculous too so I did some reading and its not a bonkers a decision as it sounds. It has happened in european countries too. People will just ignore this post anyway.

Can you show 1 piece of proof that the rise in cases is down to house parties etc?
