When you look at the map by local area, it's clear there are a few massive hotspots in Dublin.

Celbridge is worse than most Dublin LEAs

Where can I see that map please .

No mr hindsight here because I never supported lockdowns from day one and as per my posting history have been very vocal about that since the get go. It’s completely the wrong strategy, it’s failed already and will continue to fail over and over.
Tbh you’re pretty typical of the ever dwindling band of lockdowners- denigrate all who don’t agree with you

Yes because the "anti" crowd don't denigrate those behaving responsibly.

It worked in the last such regional restriction so why would Dublin be different? The message is about reducing the number of contacts. Aa always most people doing that will have an effect.

All the world were in lockdown that time and people were genuinely afraid of the virus

Most under 40 dont give a **** about Covid now and airport traffic is scaling upwards

Will be very interesting to see if cases drop. Assuming testing in numbers as to date and with no change in turnaround time or reporting of positive cases.

But if they are lower is it because restaurants and bars were a large cause of spread after all?

Or will it be people in Dublin reducing their number of contacts overall for three weeks?

Plenty of scope for spin whatever the outcome.

And if people don’t particularly curtail their movements, and cases stay the same or rise, that will tell another tale.

Much larger population, much more activity with schools, businesses, shops etc.

    All in a smaller space.

Having a wander around the city centre

Congratulations to all the lock down merchants

The economic destruction is a sight to behold

How do we know lockdown in Kildare worked any more than the regions which also had clusters of cases related to factories and didn't lock down?

His thinking is the dubs won’t suppress it enough to go back to level 2

He sees it going up to level 4 and possibly level 5 in the coming weeks

Just one doctors opinion but I found it persuading

Yeah unfortunately there seems to be a lot out there who aren't on board any more for the big win and i can see level 4 as soon as two weeks time.

No , I mean the more recent one in August - Kildare et al. I'm not sure it's fair to lump all of this onto the U40s, there are people of all ages who don't care but also very many who do. Sense of frustration in this post. It's important not to give in to it too much!

Based on where the cases per 100K were and where they are now is a good reference point. The DoH and the government think they have and that's all that matters.

Celbridge is still higher than lots of areas in Dublin. Its debatable how much differences the lockdown or if it was tracing etc

Will be great if young people finally start kicking back against the never ending restrictions to their social lives.

I'm very hopeful we'll see plenty of similar scenes in the coming weeks.

    Let's see shall we

Coming into the winter, and a massive population in a small area Dublin is only going one way.

Unless people stop going for tests, those numbers are going up

Laois, kildare, offalys, even the UK examples have showed us that lockdowns are effective at bringing down the number of cases. Finding reasons of why Dublin is a unique snowflake and won't follow the majority of previous examples is speculation.

Especially with no part time work or college time to keep them going. Wtf else are they going to do? Watch rte and George lee tell you your about to die? I don’t think so!

Corona was a godsend for Georgie, RTE didn't know what to do with him I'd say and next thing this happened and he gets to preach to the masses on a daily basis.

Then thank them for the economic impact they are causing with their behaviour.

Apparently he’s their “science” correspondent. Not even health.
FG were very lucky to get rid of him

    Some do

Its waning big time, sorry if I came across aggressive implying that.

August we had no schools or colleges open either

1 million kids are in school now

Hard to see that being good

Oh yeah, poor young people. Mildly inconvenienced for several months, its not like they have another 60 or 70 years of life ahead of them to spend partying if they so desired or anything. Better cram in all the house parties they can right now!!

I was in the City center about two weeks ago, and yes it was a sight to behold. I got upset looking at all the shops closed, thinking of all the people out of work.
    It is very sad.

This isn’t “several months”. We are now 7 months in and back to more restrictions etc. This simply isn’t realistic anymore

I don't think they can really get down to a town of 20K nor do they want to. County level is a reasonable compromise and they have been recording data at that level since it started.

oh yeah, 7 months of no partying out of their entire remaining lives. Sorry yeah youre right, thats terrible, wont someone please think of all the poor party-less children?? Maybe we could do a kickstarter to crowdfund a few pipes of pringles and and a few cans and throw a little shindig for them before they die of lack of a social life, cause you can actually die from that you know, unlike corona, which has never killed anyone.

With Dublin being in this level 3 lockdown, is it illegal to travel outside Dublin? Or is it a guideline to not travel outside the county?
