This is in our hands, folks. Time to be responsible and see this through.

What's going to change this time though? People following the advise up until this point will continue to do so and those who couldn't really give a sh*t will continue to not give a sh*t.

    Depressing times.

Cases are extremely high in Dublin I think the level 3 is warranted. Once the numbers come down Dublin will be downgraded to level 2. Yeah it sucks but if it saves lives then it's worth it.

Who says they’re going to come down? Absolutely nothing to suggest these half baked loon ideas will have the remotest impact on Covid 19.
No offence but people like you sound a tad brainwashed.

Social interactions will still happen, and most likely increase now, in private homes.

Indeed. And that’s where Covid is spread. Reckon cases will climb higher courtesy of this half baked rubbish

That's what is even more disheartening about the whole thing.

At least it was a novelty first time around for those less likely to give a sh*t.

The first one being an utter failure. We supposedly have to repeat the same failed exercise again 2 months later. I can guarantee this one will not work either (whatever the supposed aim even is at this stage)

Don’t succumb to the government’s propaganda. This is not about the people. Generally speaking most people are vigilant. (Although hand sanitising incidents among people going in to shops is very poor). Weariness has long set in.

The issues are firmly in the governments hand

    * Zero enforcement of necessary measures
    * generalised blunt measure as opposed to targeted localised action
    * lack of support generally speaking from businesses and alot of the public due to the lack of transparency, lack of clarity and decisions being made that go against international evidence
    * Contact tracing still not up to scratch
    * testing turnaround is still too taking too long

You can have 25 people at a wedding and you can have 25-30 people in a classroom BUT you can't play a football match with 14 people?
    Logic?
I dont get it? The chances of catching covid at an outdoor football match are extremely low how is that seen the same as going into a restaurant for example?

It's very depressing. The next few weeks are going to tank so many businesses in Dublin. On the back of nothing. There is going to be a run rate of people who test positive. This will be the same because some people are assholes.

A three week hiatus will not change that. The same people will still be the same assholes in three weeks time.

The run rate will still be the same. I'm not one for marching, but I'd think about marching for some govt cop on about these recent restrictions.

Dublin had to be locked down. It should have been done sooner guys. The virus is gone out of control there. Some of its own people have caused this lockdown. Having anti mask protests isn't going to stop the virus.

People and movement are the main problems. That's how the virus spreads.

    He’s contradicting himself or lying.

He tweeted today saying they don’t know the source of infections and don’t have the time or resources to study it

Ah mr. Hind-sight. Enlighten us, what should the government have done in round 1?
This is a **** deal for everyone, somewhat more so for a tranches of society but what's clear is that there's a very narrow middle-ground between those who swear by the state broadcaster and those who go full van Morrison. Tbh, either side could accused of looking slightly bonkers

And what makes you think it will be any different in 3 or 4 weeks after Dublin, or any city for that matter, emerges from a lock down?

We'll still have the same ratio of people who adhere to restrictions and those who don't.

I struggle with the logic of destroying local economies for something that we can foresee happening.

    Anyway, good night.

Lockdowns don't work. We had been floating at about 100-150 odd cases a day in Dublin. I guarantee it will be much higher in 3 weeks. This is a shambles. Economic suicide

    Sweden’s brilliant plan.

People who criticise Sweden are shifting the goalposts. What was being said at the start of lockdown was that society would collapse and there would be chaos without lockdown which did not happen in Sweden which not have a lockdown.

Old people dying of covid was considered to be inevitable lockdown or no lockdown.

Stop giving out about people not giving a sh*t. Not giving a sh*t is the solution to covid stop thinking about it and get on with your life not worrying about it problem solved if everyone stopped giving a sh*t.

The lockdown reduced the R value for Ireland back during the last national lockdown. It reduced it in kildare, offaly and laois. Please explain why you think the stats and doctors are wrong.

Its not about the R value or any other covid related nonsense. Covid is not a serious illness for 99% of people. The issue is not covid the issue is the media fearmongering.

Calling him mr.hindsight is a bit juvenile to start with, hardly helpful.
Look the die was cast yonks ago with all Nphet recommendations getting immediately agreed to and implemented. To this day almost everything they say goes. Throughout March to late September which is 7 months you'd be thinking a government would govern but in those 7 months I'd ask how many times have the Irish government actually said no we will do whats right for the country against NPHET advice.
How many times have they actually made a decision? Is NPHET not supposed to give an opinion on health and then the government makes a decision for the overall good of the nation? And that should include the economy, cancer screening, etc
So how many times over the past 7 months have our government stood up and said thanks MPHET but we have a country to look after, we've taken your advice on board and we'll do the following... but no, its NPHET said this so this is exactly what we'll do. It was like his under FG and its same under FF, but of course theres no difference any more. they're the same party.
So NPHET are currently running the country. And have been for 7 months.
Hence the bonkers rules. A 5 point plan. 2 days ago Dublin was 2.5 now its 3.5 plus add ons. It's fawlty towers stuff.
Nobody can keep up wih the ever changing rules and this is a massive slur on both FF and FG for passing the buck to NPHET when leadership was needed. SF should be having a field day and they will

Loads in the US and across Europe. You don't have to be in the majority to be right so it dosen't matter how many there are.

I'm glad that you agree that the majority of politicians, media, doctors and scientists agree in the seriousness of Covid 19.

Please continue and tell us why you think they are all wrong and you are right.
