gonna be interesting to see our economically conservative government swallow its pride, and take on a sh1te load of debt, to sort this one out

I doubt money is a problem at all. Just like every other EU country.

Anyone else see that the IRFU have said it’ll struggle to keep a professional structure next year if fans can’t return to stadia next year.
I’m sure it’s the same for league of ireland. Gaa saying they’ll lose €70m this year!
The smaller football/rugby clubs in the UK could potentially go bust as well!

My child is outside playing with 2 pals who she has been sitting indoors with all day (school) and next week they won't be able to do that - also all very upset that their outdoor matches this weekend have been cancelled. Makes no sense to them. All the evidence points to outdoor activities being the safest option - where is the science to show that suddenly covid becomes more infectious on grass outdoor pitches at weekends than indoor classrooms Monday-Friday?

Pretty grim news from the UK SAGE committee.

Well good news and bad news...

Almost everyone who gets the virus develops antibodies and immunity.

The bad news is that this appears to begin to wane after 2-3 months.

I don't know what that means for a vaccine, but at the very least it suggests to me as a layman that we will all be getting an injection at least once a year when a vaccine becomes available.

    Covid case in Blarney school

"We’ve also just been informed that another school in Cork has identified a COVID-19 Case. Parents of children in Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál in Blarney received the communication via email a few moments ago."

not directed at you but seriously who cares? it's a case, it happens. isolate the class, back to school two weeks later. no biggie. don't see the need to be tweeting stuff like this like it's like some kind of bomb.

Surely if the 2-3 months thing was true we'd have hundreds of reinfections by now?
Judging by how gleefully the 3 or so reinfections have been reported so far I'm sure we'd have heard of more by now.

There isn't going to be a vaccine. People are being strung along like fools by science fiction

Dublin has from only one other household - 2 pals from different households would break rule for garden or house?

So all the companies currently manufacturing thousands of doses are just doing it for the craic?

Sam McConkey said back in March that we could have 20,000 dead. That was averted by lockdown then and it'll be averted again by this one.

If McConkey told me it was sunny outside, I'd bring my umbrella. That fella and his models have zero credibility. His previous estimates were between 20-80k dead depending on the level of restrictions imposed. He was an order of magnitude wrong them, just like now.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

I've now rang all the people working on a vaccine, and told them it's best to stop the projects now. Oh well, it was worth the try.

Closing indoor dining is a massively disproportionate response which will cause untold economic losses for minimal gain.

A lot of the vaccine companies are completely inflated. Very smart men are shorting them right now and will make a tidy profit when they correct.

In fairness if all the modelers knew what they now about the virus back in feb/march the models would be completely different.
