If you look at the sellers address you’ll see its being sold by the Iran embassy themselves

Doesn’t the reg number means it’s an import yet it’s stated it was serviced in MSL. Dials are in km’s too. Does it look like it only drove 22k

Rear passenger kick plate looks like it has a kink in it

If genuine though it looks like a lot of car for the money

Add to above my guess is that it was imported in 2012 and a new Km speedo was installed at that time and it’s only done 22k since then.

Between 2008 and 2012 who knows what mileage she did?

Over budget for this thread, but I'm going to post it anyway because it actually seems like a bit of a bargain given its pedigree.

Iranian ambassador's former S500, lovely spec, full service history and only 13k miles - €10k. I'd expect something like this to be a lot more expensive. It looks a lovely example.

Is that the genuine reg for the car? if you look up the motor tax rate for that reg it says it doesn't exist.

Looks to me like it's done a lot more mileage than that. You would expect the seats on such a high end model to be in pristine condition after less then 14k miles

It’s a diplomatic number, so won’t appear on motor tax. Same with Garda cars etc.

If you look at the rear pic the reg has definitely been photoshopped.

I do not think CD cars pay Motor Tax, so that might explain it.

The car looks like a much higher mileage than 22 km. It might have been imported from another RHD country that has Km, but I cannot think where - perhaps Australia.

It may have come from the Iranian embassy in London with a replacement speedo on arrival.

Yes, so is 08-d-121660, but they are not on motortax.ie because they don’t pay any tax.

I wouldn't mind rocking up to the embassy for a test drive. There will probably be a queue of mossad and CIA heads waiting for a snoop around.

Seems the Iranian ambassador has a preference for RTE Gold...
I can just see them, making calls to their operatives in the West, while bopping along to "I think we're alone now"

Back plate isn't photoshopped, it's the angle. The CD part is bolted under the Irish plate raising it up, looks strange but on closer inspection can see the perspective.

Take away the scuff mark on the door entry and it doesn't seem too far fetched for the mileage IMO

Can we all chip in €2 each on a history check to see if its clocked or not

I think that might be the chauffeur. I think the ambassador prefers Lyric.

Weird option list , has all of the rear passenger comforts you'd expect except no fridge or ski bag prep for a fridge, no electronic opening boot lid, but has ultra rare at its age DAB radio.

as for the dash - the clocks are an LCD on those, swapping them to KM is easy, what id say more likely happened is it was on Iranian plates and then normalised to Irish CD ones a few years ago.

I wouldn't trust the mileage though.

Yea looks in good shape to me, drivers seat looks a little worn but a chauffeur would have been sitting in that for possibly 8 hours outside hotels, embassies etc. while having only driven 5km that day.

He must have been climbing over it onto the back seat too when he got bored.

That was the Iranian Ambassador putting his hands on the front seat as the chauffeur swings through Dublin traffic

I just googled him there and he looks a lot thinner and not much taller than Michael D.

as an import will that S500 be on the 2350 tax rate as a private car?

Back in the early 90's I bought a Kawasaki Z1000, I think it was a 1976/77 one, pale blue in colour. It had clearly seen better days. Had it about a week, was stopped by a Garda Sargent, he told me that every other person who ever owned that bike was a trouble maker, that I was bound to be no different and that he had his eye out for me. :pac:

He used to stop me on a regular basis just to give me a warning. :)

I think if it's first foreign registration was in first half of 2008 it's on the old cc system so €1809 a year and €2350 if after it. You would need to see logbook as tax disc will just read 'Exempt' like Garda cars.

That personal plate 1PER is on a diesel 2015 Merc that has 4400 miles on the clock - she did 400 miles between the last MOT’s. They must find her expensive to run or something!

Based on that I’d say that it could actually all check out and the car was bought new in UK but imported here by the embassy.

Still a hard sale here with such high tax but not much else to fault

Hackney is only €95 per year.
