The look of panic on his face when the question about spectators was asked.....

Couldn't answer the question on larger stadiums. Basically said it'll be looked at on a case by case basis.

    His own plan says

"For very large purpose built event facilities (for example: stadia, auditoriums, conference or event centres) specific guidance will be developed with the relevant sectors to take account of size and different conditions for larger events."

MM mentioned page 15, guessing (hoping) there's a more detailed document somewhere, because what's in that link is an absolute joke. No detail whatsoever.

    "What level is Dublin?"

    "2.5"

    That's excellent :pac:

    Not in Dublin, apparently.

Shows you how ****e it's been if we still can't figure out what's what.

In level 4 if it ever gets there bars and restaurants can have 15 people sitting outside only.

May as well just say close and do takeaway

    This is laughable?

Level one allows only 3 households to visit another?

    So best case scenario.

Did anybody even think about this?

Part of the problem has been that people dont understand decisions being made, this is what leads to fatigue. You get people to buy into what you have to do, then the plan will be easier to implement.

Very much the opposite with me. We have had the important of COVID drilled into us for the last 6 months.

I want more details of the plan and the rational/scales/transition steps - actual hard figures and steps

Its actually embarrassing that Johnson can deliver a more coherent speech than Martin.

This is truly awful, listening to this , no clarity , lot of words with feck all content .

If this press conference did nothing else but communicate that we need to maintain restrictions, this is why and even basic information on the plan, it would be fine.

MM is just very poor at answering questions. When Leo was talking it really did feel like at least there was going to be a relatively clear message. Theres alot to be said for being a good Orator.

The problem is not so much the way they are doing the conference here, its who is talking the most.

    Newsflash:

    Its now a framework

    A 6 month framework.

Reporter asks what's the story with Christmas.
MM replies they didn't discuss Christmas.

Christmas is just over 3 months away.

I checked my calendar, that firmly puts it right in the middle of the 6 month framework.

    But they didn't discuss it.

So what exactly is the extra 0.5 of restrictions on Dublin? No wet pubs opening on the 21st, but what else? Travel restrictions, reduced house visits? Restaurant/pub restrictions?

I thought that was level 3 or has it changed?

Why would it be any different?

It shouldnt be discussed - the virus isnt heading back to China to see the family

    Martin should have said that.

    Donnelly christ.

Like when your been considered for the most important ministerial position in the time of a public health crisis surely the most basic requirement is "Are you a good public speaker ?"

I'm struggling to see how the slight difference in measures for Dublin are going to have any significant impact on driving the case figures down. For most people there will be very little change so in 2 or 3 weeks will we looking at 500 or 600 cases a day? Why not act now?

Martin with an ah crap moment when he realised what he's asking from the public at Christmas

Level 3 for those settings just says extra restrictions but no further detail

No change to face nappies even at level 1, still penalty on conviction for not wearing a face covering up to €2,500 and/or 6 months in prison.

    They can shove their plan.

Why do you hate masks so much? There's a thread for it anyway.

    Donnelly is a dumbo.

Someone needs to tell Stephen Donnelly that there is a letter 'T' in the alphabet.

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

FFS, open up the pubs in Dublin.

Kilkenny is going to be overridden by Dubs now every weekend.

Interesting wording on "Social and Family Gatherings" for Level 3:
    In your home or garden

Visitors from one other household only OR your own household only.

    So we can visit ourselves?

When they say one household visiting do they mean one household at a time ? Can you have another household another day ?
