121 or so unexplained or under investigation, chunk of them will inevitably be community transmission.

Potentially but it can take longer. Appears to be a delay in contact tracing in some areas.

More staff being brought back in from other departments to do contact tracing again now

Good decrease on yesterday? Maybe it's in retreat?
Can't be saying that on here!!!

Nursing home visits are down to 1 in Dublin anyway.

What would postponing sport events do ? They're already behind closed doors.
Bar reopenings in Dublin are unlikely, will everywhere else. Third level is mainly online for the first semester at a minimum.

Soccer, Gaelic, rugby, etc are close contact sports, not just with opposing players but your own. Also players sharing transport going to games. I'm amazed at a time like this players are still celebrating during games and afterwards with high fives, handshakes, hugs, the works. You see it TV every game.

Basically anything non essential should be put on the back burner for a month.

Can you recall one outbreak linked to a match in Ireland? I can't. Non-story.

    350+ unaccounted positive swabs.

Where are you pulling that number from another poster said 120?

    208 is good then?

Some will tell you that it’s down on yesterday.

Then, when the 120 backlog is added tomorrow, they will take the ‘sure we knew about them, take those out and things are stable’ BS.

We have had 622 cases in 3 days. That is not good by any metric.

For a person who doesn't even live in this country it's quite strange

Hardly strange, I've friends and family I care about in Ireland.

I think traditionally Monday has been a low enough day due to the weekend effect. That might have changed recently. Mid-week days like Tuesday tend to be a lot higher. Its why the 7 day average is the figure really to look at.

My brother lives in Germany, aunt and uncle live in Australia, have relatives in Florida, California and New York. I don't go and preach lockdown on them.

It's a number in a range where we've been for a few weeks. Not rising rapidly but not showing signs of declining either.

There has been a growing number of community cases which means they don't know where the infections came from. You would think in light of that its a good idea for people to reduce all contacts regardless of setting.

A number of GAA clubs here have suspended activities due to positive cases. Do you think they should have just continued on as normal?

Not quite the same, you're only a young kid so you're unlikely to understand.

I don't think it's changed. They are finding it really difficult to keep apace die to the high level of testing . I was tested Friday week ago with COVID like symptoms. It took 6 days to get my result (negative)

As professor Nolan said in the briefings, Dublin is the only county seeing higher community transmission than the rest, which are stable. The restrictions tomorrow on households will deal with that.

How is it not the same? You do realise you sound utterly bizarre preaching lockdown from a different country?

You realise the numbers can rise even if people abide by the restrictions right? Seeing as the country has massively opened up..

Yes thanks I do . But they rise less and slower if people abide by restriction .

That's a relief about the nasal swabs for kids. Much more comfortable and more inaccurate so we should see far lower number in kids.
That's a win win for everyone.

Cant find the answer anywhere , did I miss the briefing or was there none this evening ?

A GAA club suspending activity =/= sport being an issue. We had a case in our club during the week, had absolutely nothing to do with sport and the HSE advised to continue as normal.

I'd like to caveat the following by saying it's purely anecdotal. The financial times is a fish and chips rag and is not as trustworthy as the anonymous defenders of truth on this thread. Don't shoot the messenger.

Also the CEO of the worlds largest vaccine manufacturer is talking through his arse obvs.

This being the vaccine that they haven’t got?

I find it bizarre you don't get it.

I'm from Ireland and would care more about Ireland the country I live in. You not caring about the countries your relatives live in is not the same.

we're trending upwards with cases. i can't see it magically starting to disappear unfortunately with the current state of controls and compliance.

however deaths are still quite low thankfully. but i don't think it's weakened, it's just we are much much better at catching cases.

if the trend continues the deaths will rise eventually and the question is at what level of deaths will there be widespread support for a higher level of controls?

we will have to confront that question in the coming months i fear.

Big number again I see. Hopefully we can get a hold of this because it really is looking very bad indeed for the next few months.
