Incredible video from the states. Such a fundamental lack of understanding on the implications of mixing and the spread of the virus.

Not being one to usually agree with the poster Caveat Emptor, at least 50% of his links are to studies and reports based on real world data, compiled by clinicians and scientists from all around the world.

Thanks raind, I certainly try to post stuff which is better than my anonymous opinion. I respect your thoughtful disagreement and improves the debate although we rarely agree. Sometimes things posted are wrong unbeknownst to me but it's important that it's discussed. This thing is so new it's a continuous challenge to keep up with it and understand the implications of developments.

P.S the restaurant thing being 2X more likely was statistically significant but it wasn't a distribution. It's an odds ratio, i.e comparison between two likelyhoods.
We were both wrong and right. :D

i.e say people who didn't go to a restaurant are 5% likely to contract covid.
whereas those who do go to a restaurant are 10% likely to contract covid.

You can say they are twice as likely. The confidence interval on the comparison was very large which is what I was getting at. The lower bound was 2X though.

Jesus wept. That’s the level of stupidity we’re dealing with. Interesting that the cops could find out someone was positive from their database. There’d be riots if they tried to bring something like that in here!

On the other hand, there seemed to be no bother on the whole house who tested positive. They looked fit and well.

America is fcuked. I saw another video on YouTube where one girl was talking about her experience with covid. She was staying at her boyfriend's house and was recovering at the boyfriend's house and because he didn't have symptoms, he continued to work!!!

Yeah it's the fact though that they thought nothing of having people over and then sending them on their way so nonchantly that doesn't sit well.

Likelyhood is these guys have been in liquor stores and everything else in between. Obviously this crowd are fit an healthy to fight it but their actions are completely wrong.

It does come across like they don't understand how easily transmission happens. Even the cop was way more calm than he should have been.

250 positive swabs on 12,226 tests. 2.04% positivity

Flu season hasn't kicked in yet so the number would be very low to zero I'd imagine

I see your point and when flu season kicks in there would be nice to see a comparison

    (As with other illnesses)

As for young people and the flu been more dangerous. For those who are infected with coivid and are affected, they will probably (imo) have longer effects of it v a long dose of a flu.

I live with someone who is in their early 30s (not sure if that's regarded a young )

Had the aussie flu few years back and was knocked for two weeks , I had it aswell. (It was then I learnt the big difference between a cold and a flu)
Took another two weeks before she felt ok again so in total a month.

She contracted coivid in May , was confined to bed for nearly three weeks. And now can't walk up stairs without losing her breathe. Her immune system is now very poor picking up infections quite easily. (The chemist knows us by name now unfortunately)

I hope I don't come across as shooting you down, you had valid points, I was just giving my view and my experience.

I'm 35-44 age bracket and I have never had flu in my life as far as I know. Colds maybe 2 in last 20 years. Never been off sick in work with a cold in my life or bed ridden Maybe this will go against me. Who knows...

Your poor friend. Just shows you nobody is immune. You did,nt pick it up then?

So has anyone else with Covid, there's a lot of questions around the PCR testing, you can get a positive results up to 78 days with one. It doesn't mean your sick or were ever sick, it's the test picking up some remaining rna. The UK are going back to look at their previously positive tests now probably with a number revision in mind.
The big thing to take away is a positive test does not mean you have active covid. It's why the daily numbers are pointless in relation to cases.

Another big testing number for a 24 hr period. Last 4 Saturdays had 231, 156,174 and 200 cases. I'd expect at least 200 cases reported tonight.

Sub 100 with the amount of tests being carried out ? Not a chance on recent trends

There may be a handful (a dozen or so) but should be fairly close to whats announced - assuming they don't hold some back!

You dismissed Professor Carl earlier and he's still practicing weekly, now we're knocking the clinical director. I'd assume he sticks his head in the door and has an idea what's happening.
You have to stop finding reason to ignore professionals. Why your hell bent on following the misery guts brigade is beyond me.
Were on the road back to Normal, hold on tight.

I think some people are still traumatised by Mar May deaths. The penny will just take longer to drop for some that this may will be over.

That's the 3rd doctor today you've dismissed and there more than just your average country GP. The penny has to drop at some stage you may be misinterpreting the situation and people on the ground involved with treating parentis could be correct.

I am dismissing those on all sides who cherry pick who to reference. 3 doctors may be providing some suggestions that they believe this is not very serious, or has passed, however most do not. Spain are still experiencing a death rate over 1%

Thats true, first Saturday in a while where there isn't a large number to come in from during the week

They'll probably announce 100 cases today and tomorrow only to scare the bejaysus out of everyone with 500+ on Tuesday.

May not be a long way off those numbers in reports, but in real terms we are detecting 10x what we were a few months ago. Most people with symptoms were not even tested early in the pandemic

Also the first Saturday in a long time that there has been 250 positive swabs in a 24hr period. Things are going in the wrong direction.

Discrepancy in the numbers again for week total testing of 137

    Total Tests = 961,579 (Hospital)352,244, (Labs)609,132
    Total Positive = 34,064 @3.5% Today = 250
24hr Total tests = 12,226 , Week total on hub is 71,685. Should be 71,822. Week positive is now at 1.8%.

Shut down polluting power stations, ban polluting cars, remove plastic from the food system, remove chemicals from the food system, ban alcohol and smoking, ban processes sugar, the list is endless. All of these measures would save 10s of thousands of lives a year in Ireland alone

People are bitching because pubs were closed for a few months due to a pandemic, how on earth do you think the level of societal change you are looking for would be received by the general public?
