Yeah I heard BM blame a wheel refurb for warped discs for that reason before which sounds very unusual. In that case the owner got 4 new wheels in the hunt to fix the warping discs. Think I would get rid of the car first...

Couldn't agree more! Any more thoughts? Looking forward to your video. I called my local dealer today for a quote on a January delivery...

Doubt I'll go for it but curious to see what the offer for my own etc.

Ford UK have told their dealers they have another limited run of a performance model in Azure blue coming out next month, basically a fully loaded car with a few unique trim and cosmetic pieces. It comes with adjustable coilovers and LSD from factory for feck sake. They have one for sale at the minute but it's 3 door only and bright orange both would mean a no for me. Meant to be a serious little machine though.

Ford only do one option spec wise now, which is almost all the options.

The Irish model as standard now is an ST3, 5 door, performance pack(LSD) and led lights which previously were all options. Only options now really are paint colour and sunroof. The roof is expensive enough but it's a full glass roof that looks really well in them and also opens.

Sport mode great fun, pops / bangs and revs beautifully. Steering is quite heavy (artificially) but you get over it. Driving it hard, still doing 8L/100kms. Lovely little gear shifter, chunky steering wheel. A proper hot hatch for traffic light getaways! Love it so far. When everything is eventually electric or whatever source of fuel, these type of cars will be sadly missed I think.

Speaking of fast Fords, this Focus ST has been on sale for an eternity:

Not sure many would pay nearly 45k for one.

I imagine it could be quite wearing on a long run though it looks very good.

You wouldn’t leave it in sport all the time for sure.

Had a good spin of it this morning on quiet roads at 5.30am and it’s an absolute blast. A vibe similar to i30N.

Great performance and handling no doubt, looks dated as fnck to me compared to the likes of a 208 for example. An 02 D plate wouldn't look out of place on it :o

They're a cool looking car, however I drove one not too long ago and found it disappointing as a driver's car. The steering was very artificial making it hard to judge and the front wheels tramlined like crazy on the country roads I drove it on. The engine and gearbox were peachy though, shame that the handling didn't live up to the powertrain imo.

That's an absolutely gorgeous fiesta. I'm really tempted to go back to something like that next time around but I'm wondering coming from a 2.0tdci mondeo and doing north of 18k miles a year would i instantly regret something like this. How much a hit would economy take. Get around 45mpg currently. Mapped the mondeo recently in order to give me the interest to hold onto it another while. Is there anything in petrol that suits my type of driving. Not expecting 45 mpg but is 35 or so doable in something a bit fun to drive?

Brothers girlfriend has a new fiesta, not an ST but obviously the same size, more or less same interior, same seats and same comfort and for me it would be a no way to go from a mondeo to a fiesta, even one with 200bhp. I've best part of 200bhp myself in an Audi a6 which wouldn't be as quick as the fiesta but put the two of them down a motorway for a 2 hour return spin and I know which one I'd prefer to be in.
Fiesta does sound like a lot of fun but can't really be driving it hard around the place the whole time.

Thank you, I'm never on that site so missed that. It's got all the kit. Only missing rear doors for me, but maybe I could work with that. I'll give him a call tomorrow. Thanks for sharing. I did leave a message with my local dealer for the sales guy to call me today, as he wasn't there yesterday. No call....

Just remembered my first car was a blue 3 door fiesta :)

The ST will switch to 2cyl on a motorway, I’m sure if you took it easy you could get 35 in it, I had it on the M1 tonight and it was cruising at 120-140 doing 7L/100kms. I actually love the thing!

Yeah my MK7 would average around 37/38 on a run I'm sure 35 is well doable in the new one.

I'd like one simply for looking at the reflection in shop windows. Those wheels are easily the nicest things I've seen on a new car in a very long time.

Those Fiesta pics are putting ideas in my head. If only Ford were interested in selling them.

    Cool car.

Ouch! Surely cheaper to import yourself or just buy brand new if you can get a Ford dealer to get you one?

Just looking there, to bring that car in from UK would be 25ish. That one has a sunroof in fairness which is a 1k option and rare. So they have it maybe €2/2.5k over what you could bring one in for your self and that excludes time/hassle/travel so maybe not a completely unrealistic asking price but I think it will sit a while. I have no idea what Ford's finance packages are like, but they are surely more attractive than what is available via a bank/trader so for an extra bit you could get a new car, to your spec and for most people the finance would play an important role in that decision too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,904 ✭✭✭hooch-85

Ford finance rates traditionally are not great, I think i was paying around 8% on my old ST. So while the car was cheap, I was paying a nice bit in interest. It might be cheaper now but as far as i know their finance is done through Bank of Ireland so a traditional bank loan with your own bank might be as cheap.

    Cool car.
such a pity, had my mind made up on one but none in the country and 5.9% finance quickly ended that idea

5.9% is better than what they used offer and better than most bank loans.
