    Lock Dublin down.

Cases rising sharply again. Schools open. Pubs about to reopen. The "me me me" people have spoken. Say goodbye to any elderly relatives now. One way or another you wont be seeing them for a long time if at all.

Nothing hysterical at all about that post

Yeah but the publicans seem to be wary of the date given.

Well if you were in Dublin or Limerick then yeah you'd probably have a bit of second guessing going on

    Perhaps.

Viral load among the infected may be lower due to social distancing.

But case fatality rates are down across all age groups in Europe.

We may end up in trouble after Christmas, who knows, but I don’t need any reason to panic just yet.
Also generally better immune systems in summer.

Yeah you would wonder. Appearently each of the next 3 Mondays were discussed and the middle on was picked. Appearently has the blessing of NPHET

It seems odd cause Dr Glynn said before Christmas on Late Late on Friday. Don't think anyone even publicans expected it as soon as later this month. Was thinking maybe start of October at the earliest to see full effect of schools reopening.

The implied narrative (not necessarily the OP) from a lot of social media commentators recently is - ‘they had underlying conditions anyway or were old’. As a society, surely we should be striving to do everything we can to protect the most vulnerable.

That and the 3 dates they've been given so far

It means what is in the report, nothing more, nothing less, just the facts.

People never said cases linked to pubs / restaurants. Clusters is what way said. 1 pppular Dublin pub had a staff member test postive and closed for 2 weeks recently, now reopened as it was 1 single case and all staff were tested with customers also traced

I disagree. No cases/clusters linked to pubs/restaurants was a common remark that was thrown around here for a long while. Now that it's become a bit less credible to claim that you don't hear it as much.

The publicans on the radio were from tipp and Waterford.

So that story is saying all those people with underlying conditions would have died at that exact time anyway without covid? Mysterious....

    Lock Dublin down.

1 case per 8-9000 people...... Dublin is doing fine.....

Local lockdown or not in Dublin I'm still gonna have to go to work like many others not much will really change.

To be honest if they bring in restrictions for Dublin and Limerick what difference will it make ultimately? Close a few places tell people to limit there contacts etc etc sure look how that went in Kildare. If anything people will probably rebel against it as they tend to do.

Virgin Media really milking the number today by going back to Zara King a 2nd time. No doubt RTÉ will have a special fear mongering program on tonight with Tomas Ryan, Gerry Killeen.

Well, tell me what you think it says first

It means you should read the official report and if the facts of that report don't align with your narrivate then take it up with the HSE.

    Today.

It would be interesting to see when the person did sadly die - RIP.

No real changes in ICU to put it down to that.

Plus this. It would be very typical of this government if message changed again. https://amp.independent.ie/world-news/coronavirus/wet-pubs-may-not-be-allowed-reopen-from-september-21-government-admits-39514313.html?__twitter_impression=true

From what i've read, COVID-19 is also often asymptomatic in people with underlying conditions and may cause no complications at all. Yet it is still listed as the cause of death even though the patient had no COVID-19 symptoms.
According to Colm Henry it manifests differently in older people and can be harder to spot without testing.

Well certainly cases linked to those settings isn't going to be 0 but places that have closed are doing so after 1 case. Anyway its 5 clusters since March.

Like i said 1 Dublin pub closed after 1 staff member tested postive. Nobody else tested positive so no cluster and repoened after 2 weeks. Better to close to be on the safe side while everyone else gets tested one would imagine given the setting

Government messaging has gone to ****e. Please limit your contacts. If this keeps going we might need to think about lockdowns. We have to get schools open for the sake of the kids. Oh by the way we're planning on reopening pubs.

It makes no sense. Do we have a problem or not?
