What evidence do you have it's a result of schools, the number you see today isn't today's number.

There is a theory that some places in S Africa may also have some effective immunity by virtue of living in close proximity and so catching more of the other coronaviruses such as flu and common cold

Ironic that poverty might be protecting them against the Covid-19 variant.

Life expectency (mostly younger) is the key thing unfortunately.

Kenny really does not like Trump! While not a Trump fan myself there was some commentary giving him credit for rushing the vaccine through the process (assuming it works and doesn't kill anyone of course).

Healthy competition and political pressure can help. We might never have got to the moon if not for the political posturing betwwen USSR/USA. I'm happy that Trump is pushing these guys hard for a vaccine. I think it will aid things and push others also. When the government says here's the vaccine it's safe I will be in the queue. Your helping yourself and those maybe weaker were it works less well. Then we get back to as close to pre covid as possible. I think we will always be a changed society (maybe for the better/or worse) even if a vaccine was available tomorrow.

No, it really isn't. I'm not sure where you get your data from but I can tell you a "fact" as well that it is far from inevitable.

    It is unfortunately.
The more cases there are, the more likely they will end up effecting people who will need to medical intervention.

Impossible to tell how many of these are school related.
It could be as a result of a myriad of other factors unfortunately.
Either way it is more important than ever that people maintain doing the right things.

Do we know where in Dublin the cases are occurring?

The pub reopening date today fails all the common sense tests for me given the direction of the numbers. I don't know what the government are doing, I just can't see them reopening while cases and hospitalised numbers are rising, particularly when we don't know the impact of schools on the numbers.

Well they probably will but on drive time they had publicans on saying setting a date is grand but this is the fourth date and the previous three came and went.

Sounds like you're delighted. What's the connection between the 307 cases and the schools reopening?

Have a Google what's happening right now in africa with polio and the safe vaccine.

It doesn't take a genius to see, among other things, it's asymptomatic kids passing it on to their families.

And when the colleges open that's when you'll see it take off IMO.

The 'low' number is also thanks to the massive effort to control the virus

Did they give a breakdown of the where the cases are bar the fact that dublin is by far the highest ?

They are giving in to lobbying by the publicans. Pubs should have opened when case numbers were near zero. At least then they were given the opportunity and could be closed in time to get the schools open. They missed the boat long ago.

That is still a tiny portion of our population

Well the cases aren't occuring in the Pubs! It's not the Pubs which have been closed for the past 6 month's fault either!
