I don't understand how they can come out with 29 cases in various counties. It makes very little sense.

    Why?

Is there anyone looking forward to Christmas this year?
    No parties.
    No pubs.
No browsing in the shops for presents.
No inviting Granny and Grandad to Christmas dinner.
No kids going to see Santa.
No carol-singing or collecting for charity.

(Maybe it mightn’t be too bs after all).

I would hate anyone being alone for Christmas

Get outdoors, yes because the Irish winter is fantastic for outdoors.

Its not that bad a lot of the time. Having good raingear and cold weather gear is half the battle.

Would love to be outdoors even more, if they let people back into stadiums it'll be a start
I agree it needs to happen and it needs to be in the forthcoming "roadmap". He did go on to tell us to plan and buy more clothes for outside!

Might explain some of the swab v postive test announced discrepancies maybe but I'm sceptical seeing as its a large difference but as per Gavin Reilly,

"The 103 “today” were reported 00:00 to 23:59 on Sunday. The swab figure is 11:00 Sat to 11:00 Mon."

Glynn takes a swipe at that forecast of 1,200 deaths in winter, just as he did in April.

So long as the government realise outdoors is better than indoors we might get people back into stadiums..

In fairness it's just being realistic, what do you want them to say? Plenty of people expected this to be over in September, and here we are, they're just prepping people for winter and setting expectations that it's not over. It's obvious that outdoors is safer - so they're saying "sure look, plan for shite weather and do your best to stay outside." Basically if you wanna go for a coffee, go for a walk with a takeaway coffee instead of sitting in a cafe. Go for a hike or cycle with your mates.

I'm meeting my mother for walks since the schools started back. I don't plan on going inside her house anytime soon.

Did not notice them. Leitrim has recorded 86 cases up to today in total. 11 today is a big increase considering it took the last 6 months to get to 86. I wonder what was the circumstance?

Pretty sure the praise for that is really not what you imagine. Most of the rest of them are still hypothesized.

Would the big uptake in cruising on the Shannon have brought an influx of visitors in to the town's along the river?

Don't let Eamon Ryan catch you using one-use cups for your takeaway coffee!!

was it that if it is below 5 cases on a county they don't give individual numbers. There are like 14 counties in these 29, so maybe a couple in each one of them?

    100% this.

Small changes to habits can make a difference here, electing to do more things out doors like meeting for walks or getting a coffee outdoors instead of indoors could be the difference between passing on the virus or not should it turn out later that you are positive.

It's just a small change to make and it doesn't have to be all the time, even if you went for coffee twice a week before in a cafe and now instead go once a week instead and the other time now go for a coffee and walk, you've now potentially more than halved the people you could have infected if you later find out you're positive with the virus.

Might not be ideal and may not be practical all the time, but the more we chose outdoors over indoors the more risk we can reduce and remove.

The name of the game until the vaccine comes is reducing risks, not eliminating them all, life has to go on.

Agree, silly to complain about bad weather in this country. Loads of people still cycle to work and exercise outside in the winter or watch a game etc.

I don't think that Gavin is correct. It says this on the dashboard:

"Data is provided to the HPSC by the HSE COVID-19 Daily lab tracker system. Based on data reported to HSE by 15:00 (Date_HPSC) but refers to data collected as of midnight the previous day."

Homework done, conclusion posted. Empty posts like this bring nothing to the conversation. One might surmise you're not up to date yourself. YouTube doesn't count!
