I am concerned about people compiling lists and publishing them here . It is is not up to a member of the public to name names or schools affected by a positive test . It is up to the Department of Heath or Education or HSE to inform the public
It is concerning and not without danger for a member of the public to be making and updating lists .
Just my opinion and I needed to say it

I disagree, there isn’t enough detailed info being given on where cases are occurring be that in schools or in general. We should be getting all this detailed info so people know where cases are.

If this thread can give more info than is being made available by the gov, hse etc then it’s serving a vital purpose.

    Strongly agree.

Personally think that the lack of reporting by HSE regarding schools is a deliberate strategy of 'nothing to see here'.

I really appreciate the effort. It will make a real difference to a lot of people here that this information is available. It'll keep people vigilant as well as giving them a heads up when they need it. Well done. I'll keep you posted on any cases I become aware of, if you want I can make it a spreadsheet on google docs so a few of us can edit it and the burden isn't so great on you.

Thank you for that, I'll keep that in mind if it becomes too much! :)

Its my opinion and it concerns me

Absolutely fair concerns, I'm only one independent person relying on publicly available information. I'm doing my best to be accurate, which is why I added the column for where I sourced the information, and also why every rumoured school is not on the list until I have a reasonable source document to pull from. I don't know if that allays any of your concerns, or indeed if I could, feel free to PM me if you'd like links to any of information or to know more about me.

Thanks for the reply and explaination . I dont mean to be critical but coming from a medical background I am accutely aware of confidentiality . It can be thin ice and just be very careful of your source .

If you’re doing this as a type of public service it is reasonable that you should identify yourself, given the very important nature of the information you are disseminating.

And RTE might want to contact you. After all, your info thus far references 0.3% of the schools in the country. And if 0.3% have a problem RTÉ will get half a dozen prime times out it.

The 99.7% with no problem don’t matter.

You're right, it can be thin ice, I've been very careful to make sure I'm not putting anything that can identify any individual, tbh it's near impossible since I don't know who they are!

Do you think it's reasonable to put identifying information of an anonymous forum user on this board? If RTE want to contact me, they can do so, no doubt they have staff who use boards.

You are posting “information” about the incidence of Covid without any backup, or evidence to support your “information”.

It is quite reckless, and dangerous, to do this anonymously.

And it’s reckless of Boards to permit it.

I’m not publishing the names of schools with a deadly infectious disease.

It's a bit early to be discussing ones with no problem

    They're only open a week.

This smells of paedophile hunting Facebook groups. I don't think it will cause much damage just loads of nonsense.

    This is disturbing.
A friends wife is a primary teacher working in the same school for over 10 years. He just told me himself and his son (8) are showing bad symptoms.
They have been referred for a covid test from a call at 8am this morning to their GP.
The GP said nobody should leave the house unitl they get negative results.
1- They havent even got the text with the details of their test appointment as of 30 mins ago.

2- His wife called her principle and the principal just said, its up to you if you come in or not.
His wife thinks that the principal wont make a decision because they want her to come in and dont intend to pay her for the days she is out. Now this family are hard up for money since covid as he lost his job so she will go in.

Really the schools should have a clear policy and a principal should be able to take responsibility and make a decision.
    Its a disgrace.

That's terrible to hear. Hard to be positive when you read stuff like that happening.

The poster has actually taken a school or two off as they haven't gotten 'proof'. One of those schools I can 100% confirm there is a confirmed case but can't find the HSE letter/email anywhere.

Except I don't believe it. If the gp advised them they should isolate surely it is up to health professional not the principal to make that decision.

    Thats what I said.
GP wont certify her as she has no symptoms.
The lack of clear guidance for such a case tells you how the government are treating it.

If there is any guidance on this then id be grateful if someone would point me to it and i'll pass it on.

Updated list, one school removed, spelling mistake fixed, one school added, NI schools added and brief source information included.

It's a working document, doing the best I can to keep it accurate and without identifying anyone

I would be really grateful to have this information. I see a US teacher has done the same. I think it deserves a thread of its own too.
