Watching the news this evening and this idea now of keeping details of meals on top asking people to give personal information for their "substantial meal" is a step too far in my view.
Have all staff been trained in data protection? What happens if some young lad on the floor sees a girl he fancies and decides to look up her number? (we've already seen it with a Tesco driver in the UK).

    Starter for 10:
Can you tell us how many data protection breaches have occured during all the pre-covid years when restaurants and pubs have taken pre-bookings and reservations?

Have hospitizations and ICU admissions increased massively? Haven't been keeping an eye on the stats.

They're increased but it's marginal more than massive, especially considering the big number of cases we've had in the last few weeks.

There's 44 in hospital and 7 in ICU.

But you forget we live in a nanny state, and it’s been in hyper drive for months. Everyone is equal in our constitution and so the nanny state must cater to the lowest common denominator in setting the rules, that means protecting the floor lickers is the baseline

There not equal, Guards don't have to wear masks. Animal farm, all animals are equal but some more than others.
NPHET don't wear masks either and there's more than 6 people from 3 different house holds in the room.
    Were not been treated equal.

They do in fact disagree. They show a mighty ONE less death attributed to covid.

Excess mortality measure at between 850 and 900 between March 1st and July 31st. This is attributed to a lower than expected mortality from all causes excluding Covid.

I had never paid too much attention to the they where going to die anyway bridge, but there are definite strong indications from this data that a significant proportion would have been expected to die in a short period time. Would be interesting to see which cause of deaths experienced a fall off. Are they primarily in areas most impacted by Covid, or are they in other areas such as reduced accidents, heart attacks due to reduction is stress etc.

A NPHET briefing is a workplace with social distancIng, not a bar/restaurant with 6 at the same table. Any idea why they might be considered differently drunkm?

So why can't I social distance getting my morning coffee without the threat of jail. Why does anyone get an exemption, a guard doesn't need to wear a mask getting the same cup or coffee.

Spain at +10,046 cases for today, +184 deaths. Quite the increase in deaths there, does anyone know if there was a backlog of deaths added in today or?

France at + 8,975, deaths not reported yet.

Because the coffee shop you go into is uncontrolled, anyone can go in with no record of them being there, so if there was a significant outbreak there is no record of who entered, if they maintained distance etc. While in a workplace those who attend are recorded. Instances where social distancing cannot be maintained are recorded etc. Why guards don’t have to wear them, who knows?

And the threat of jail is only there if your a c**t about it.

It's worrying how strict our government is being and how long they are dragging this out.

On August 16th there were 16 in hospital. It is not a huge number now. I do not feel alarm, just ordinary caution re covid. It is nonetheless a 175% increase in hospital cases in 2 and a half weeks.

Ok Homer, if they are willing to disregard the very body who's job it is to protect our data, just because it doesn't suit the agenda. Then they cannot be trusted with so much as an oxo cube if I decide to have it. and I'm sure if she did have a cafe , you'd be first in line for the jim jones juice.

Still banging out this " 66% of new cases are under 45" . What is the point of this stat being thrown out every single day. 70% of the population is under 45.

It's usually empty when I go in, it's very spacious, easy keep your distance, I'm there no longer than 5 minutes, I am recorded on CCTV they know me by name. It's a lot safer than the NPHET meeting.
If I can keep my distance why am I threatened with 6mts in jail and can be arrested by a person who doesn't have to wear one.
Were either in this together or it's a piss take, it's a piss take.

I love what restaurants have done with outdoor seating. I might venture out sometime but does anyone know if they allow people to smoke outside as well.

If you want to lambast the previous government for their mandatory but not compulsory nonsense re: PSC I'm right with you.

But, in the contect of this thread, you will have to explain how there is some extra risk attached to the current measure given that establishments serving food such as restaurants and gastropubs and hotels have for decades been taking bookings in advance and recording contact details of the person who made the booking.

Icu and deaths true indicators of illness in a pandemic. Very stable at present. 175% increase in hospital in cases. Think you are not even serious there... You do know if I was in hospital with a broken leg and was tested and came up positive that would be as covid admission to hospital. Alot of people are brought to hospital as precaution maybe without serious illness.

Yea you can smoke outside there's calls to ban it as non smokers are discovering the joys of the great outdoors. It's only taken them 12yrs.
Can't believe your a smoker, your odds of getting Covid are seriously low.

It's supposedly to get the message across that it's not a disease of the old. I'd say it's more likely to irritate people with the finger pointing. It's also a very random age to choose.

Unfortunately there is no way to make a rule stating it’s ok when there is less than x number of people in the shop.

Were either of whom in this together and where is optional there in China?:p

A full VAT inspection would reveal any messing about, whether it is fiddling the VAT or not selling enough food, or selling too much porter. The mre threat would put manners on the more obvious suspects.

However, I would favour allowing all pubs to open for restricted hours - like 12 noon to 3 pm and 5 pm to 10 pm. The main point is to reduce the opportunity for alcohol induced risky behaviour.

The main point should be to trust adults, and trust the pubs (and if they take the piss fair enough, take appropriate action) and let people have a normal night out without this ****in madness of eating and timing you. It's utter bollix and this type of ****e is slowly turning the general public away from support of Govt.

I have no interest in drinking between 5pm and 10pm thank you, even if it suits you. I'd rather 9pm to 12am if that's ok with you!

    Leo Varadkar twitter

    @LeoVaradkar

217 positive tests for CoVid reported today but 10 days with no reported deaths. Similar pattern across Europe. Second wave of cases started months ago but at this point there’s no significant second wave of illness, hospitalisation or death.

See the latest COVID-19 information on Twitter

Does Leo think virus is weakening, therefore open up pubs etc.?

Ivor Cummins seems to concur. Majority have died immunity now in population.

Would be great to believe need another few months to be sure.
