28 days though to maintain and then dispose of data is an overhead pubs don't need. 48 hrs is enough at the most.

It makes no sense - beyond stupid this idea and will do more damage than good to the public health message.

They have made a massive mistake here and on the back of golf gate aswell where compliance was already dented.

    Get real

Public health concerns take precedence over a pub whinging about it having to keep a paper record or - space age stuff here - a spreadsheet !! for 28 days.

And what concern is it to public health what I've had for dinner ?
    Absolutely none.

What’s the big deal over the pubs providing a record of what customers ordered

Could it be They are just disgusted they actually have to take the regs seriously now

As someone just said on the radio they have to keep a record of the order as it is anyway so the only difference is they keep it longer in case the authorities want to check.

Fake outrage from the vintners as per Fcukin usual

I don’t care what you have once you DEFINITELY order food with your pints and cocktails

The only copy the business had was the order docket and the kitchen would usually just bin that.

Don't bin those. Problem solved! Everyone's happy!

    You’re missing the point.

The point is that this new requirement will force pubs to make sure everyone who comes into their premises actually order food

It’s not whether Joe soap had a large curry chips with his quarter pounder (greedy effer)

    Geddit now?

Well it looks like all they have to do now is put a tick beside a name to say they've had food.

    Utterly pointless

    Why stop there?

"Hi sir. What would you like to order?"

    - "WHAT BLOODY BUSINESS OF YOURS IS IT WHAT I HAVE FOR DINNER?"

will it yeah ? Because they've been told now they can just tick a box on their contact tracing sheet to say someone's had food. Want a pint Joe Soap ? Yeah grand, right so I'll just tick this box to say you ordered food.

Geddit now ? What are you 10 ?

Which makes the whole exercise pointless no ?? Which is my original point that you disagreed with.

Any rouge establishment will just put a tick beside the name if they've not had food. Making this "rule" to record that food has been consumed pointless.

Doesn't a till record all of this stuff?

When I worked in pubs, the till had two receipt rolls.

Both recorded each transaction as it was put through. One was the customers' copy and the other was the copy for the business.

Would this not be good enough?

How do you record the customers name on the business roll? Do you have to open the till and write the name directly onto this till receipt?

Thread is moving fast so yo haven't kept up.

Poster above has sorted it out in multiple ways.

It’s up to the pub to record as directed by the new regs and Up to the authorities to enforce it

It’s upon to abuse like a lot of laws. Personally I’m fine with an establishment who messes around with this being closed down for ever

And custodial sentences for the owners

What difference does it make to public health if I’ve had a pint and a quarter pounder or just a pint?

    - Don't bin dockets.
    - Tick box on contact tracing form.

    Problem solved!

How does ticking a box on a contact tracing log solve anything? For rouge establishments they tick a box and in compliance.

Where is the logic here ?

I think the days of tills having two rolls are long gone. Perosnally not seen that system in years and years.

I don't see what the problem is anyway.

Vast majority of pubs use digital POS systems nowadays. Every pub I've eaten in over the last 5 years has been able to give me an itermised receipt showing what food I had

So all they have to do is store that information which can all be done digitally. No need for tlll rolls or receipts.

I don't thnk they need to know who had what meal but just see that food is being ordered within the regulatons which we all know is not being enforced.

Have you been in a coma for the past 5 months?

Go to Google, type in "Covid 19", I think you have a bit of news to catch up on!

closed down forever and sent to jail for not serving a €9 meal ??

    Would you ever get real.

Closure order for a certain period of time yes and a fine.

I mean establishments that show a brazen disregard for the regs.

Your the one who said problem sloved. It doesn't solve any problem in terms of rouge establishments if they just tick the box.

If I continued on with what I wanted to say I'd probably get a ban.

its in the Garda powers 30 day closure order. Perfectly sufficient

Actually you get real. What does 28 days of logged food do to help fight the virus? What does having a substantial meal in the first place do to help mitigate the risk of contracting the virus.

    Very little, it's absolute nonsense.

And yes, maintaining a spreadsheet logging details of meals is an overhead. It becomes an additional task to refresh and keep the data updated. Not an efficient use of resources for a business trying to keep their costs down at this present time.

What levels would you be thinking?

I'll be honest, I'm not keen on pubs reopening (I think there will be enough that don't follow the rules to make it a problem) but one thing I'd take comfort in is if there was a strong deterrent - assuming we actually enforce that deterrent, something we aren't great at in Ireland.

I'd be thinking 30 days and a four figure fine for first proper breach, doubling every time for things in publicans control - distance between tables, time spent in pub, cleaning regimes etc.

Give me a health reason for it, according to the draft every person has to have everything recorded, this was just read out by a TD on the Pat Kenny show, how does that help anything?

It's an absolute waste of time and employers money.

It helps as it makes sure and certain that they are serving food along with drink

And yes it can be abused like most laws

Let the law come down hard on pubs not following the regs I say.

I personally know pubs that have “slipped back” let’s say on the requirements. Serving drink to regulars with no food.

I wouldn’t care if the pubs were closed down for good but realistically A period of a few months closure might make the owners think twice
