Another school, secondary this time. Story buried in RTE testing story.

Just a potential caveat. Some may read the story below and say "Fake news", "twitter stories I don't agree with are fake".
I've taken the time to quell those concerns by posting a link to the RTE story.
Some may think it's a government plot and that RTE is fake news run by lizards.
I can't confirm or deny that so don't shoot the messenger.

Some may see it as being "bad" news. That's up to you. I'd say it's neither here nor there whether it's bad or good.
We are thinking of people's safety in all of this not just what you perceive as being "negative".

It’s good news. Cases getting caught and isolation of school contacts being completed promptly

That death actually occurred in June though. Just very late reporting it.

Wonder what the back story is behind these ones...over 2 months late?

Must be about 2 weeks since we've had a death.
    Great news

Watch RTE and NPHET members gloss over this, barely give it a mention and imply we're heading for another lockdown. Feels like we're being conditioned for a lockdown by media and government.

    If you exclude yesterday rip.

Looks like 100 cases a day is the new normal. That's 700 a week or 3000 a month.

    But it's all fine....

You made a claim about schools and masks in education settings being unique to Ireland.
You were asked for source of your claim.
    No such source is forthcoming.
Should I take it by this response you can't stand over your earlier comments?

We've went over this in a another thread not point in rehashing it, if you'd like to show where there is a country with the same draconian measures as us will your please tell us which one.
Remember the bar we set is 6mts in Jail and denial of education.

Not getting into mask debate with the biggest pro masker here when you deny what real world evidence there is in relation to them. The real world is not a labatory environment.
I've already provided that evidence plenty of times. Masks go on cases go up. No country has a nationwide mask mandate and none enforce it by denying an education or threatening it's citizens with 6mts jail.

Two hairdressers in America had covid, their doctors said it was allergies, they wore masks anyways and turned out that they did have covid.

They had 130 clients between the two of them. All of them wore masks as well. None of these clients caught covid.

This is real world with mask wearing. Certainly not a laboratory environment.

    From gov.scot

A total of 602,795 people in Scotland have been tested. Of these people: 20,889 were positive

The ROI 852,007 tested and 29,114 were positive.

Not sure it’s comparing like with like. They have tested 602,795 people, we have conducted 852,007 tests. They also seem to have conducted about 1.2 million tests. About 50% more than us. Not 300% more

Where's the continued source of the virus coming from, we've had the health measures and lockdown, is it fair to assume it's all the result of importation now?

Now, I'm not saying anyone has died in the last 2 weeks with or from Covid, but we cannot say for certain that it hasn't happened.

As the death notified yesterday happened in June, there MAY (in capitals so people don't ignore this part!) be a death in the last 2 weeks that is as yet unreported.

Hopefully there isn't and the run of zero deaths continues.

Well we don't know that no one has died in the last 2 weeks as deaths can take up to 3 months to be notified. So we could have had a death yesterday but not know about it for another couple of months. We report deaths when they are notified.

    95 new cases - 0 deaths
Seven day average will remain at 109 cases per day if under 97 cases are confirmed tonight.

Some people seem to think so. Some think we'll pay for our summer holidays with winter lockdown. In a pandemic you can't have your cake and it too it seems.

I used the words "over as a crisis" as there is still some work to be done but the crisis part is over, I assume that is the sentiment.

Yes, true they may not be notified until November, but it is important to remember that the deaths that are counted count as covid deaths even if the person did not specifically die of covid so an already low number is still over counting.

You'd expect ICU admissions and deaths to be at a similar level in that ICU admissions give you a sense of how many people are getting very sick. They are significantly down. There's also no talk of outbreaks in care homes any more which is where the majority of deaths were.
It sounds like its under control now and deaths are likely down.

I'd bet an 84yr old died from his injuries, the cause of death was documented as Covid..

Bar Tuesday with the testing backlog, this seems to be the average number of daily cases.

Yeah we seem to have plateaued a bit at around the 100 cases a day. Obviously it would be a lot better if it was lower but it isn't increasing which is a good sign. Hopefully, we get on top of what clusters are out there and the daily case rate starts dropping a bit.

What did you expect, no schools to have to send a class home if a pupil, a pupils family member or a teacher tests postive ?

It was asked yesterday evening to Dr Glynn was he surprised 2 or 3 schools have had to send home a class and he said no it was absolutely no surprise as they knew it would happen.

There’s 100 cases a day. Think there won’t be children among them? The important thing is as many as possible are identified as early as possible and potential contacts isolated. So when this is happening the system is working

From the press conferences, it seems to be general community spread. Travel cases are pretty low. There's just people walking around now with it basically, and we get unlucky every now and again (e.g. it gets into a factory/nursing home).

"The cause of death was Covid-19, a road traffic accident that caused multiple injuries and Parkinson's disease.

Covid was documented as a cause of death but so was the traffic accident.

Think you need to re read the article. He crashed his car, got hospitalised, got Covid during recovery and died of Covid.
