Dublin seems to be seeing higher community transmission rates than other counties

R number estimated to be just above 1

Big improvement, seeing as it was around 2 only a few weeks ago.

Beginning to get cases in older people. 42 currently in hospital. 8 admissions in the last 24 hours

Only a matter of time. Older people can't just be locked up and protected indefinitely. Lower cases daily/lower community transmission is how you protect them.

Why does it take so long to determine/report cause of death?

Up to the family to report it if it didn't happen in a hospital

I'm from a rural area and still visit there several times a week. I'm no stranger to the rural pub.

I know why you ask this question. That the rural pub plays an important role socially in rural Ireland. It does, I know that. And I do have sympathy for publicans, they are in a tight spot. But there's a lot of poor mouth BS in the media lately painting this picture that every pub in the land is this tiny establishment with a few oul lads in it, who'd simply die without it. Situations like this exist, but they aren't the full story, but that's the spin that's been put on it.

And the unique risk in terms of further spread that a pub type environment poses has been completely forgotten in the debate at the moment.

The publican's complaints aren't divorced from reality, but the way the debate about the reopening of pubs is being framed is deliberately painting a disengenously incomplete picture, in my view.

I asked the question simply because the rural pub even if one only has a soft drink is an important social outlet for many.

As it stands if a GAA club follows the restrictions that is another social outlet closed.

Some families are slow to register a death.

Why will they not reveal the location of the school? This country is getting more like China in covering things up.

What? Every single time pubs are discussed its noted that they are high risk environment. Every single time.

Legally it can be up to 3 months, needs legislation to change that.

Very small number of cases so patient confidentiality comes in straight away plus they are kids. It's in West Dublin.

Schools will have multiple outbreaks..Time for calm heads to prevail. The school and health authorities will inform who ever needs know.

This way of reporting has to change.

It’s absolute ridiculous yesterday we had 110 case from the weekend but that wasn’t mentioned.

Scare fear and shock tactics for whatever reason.

But if one person in a class gets it every single person in that class is at risk as is their parents who will then be going in to their workplaces and potentially spreading it.

Dr. Glynn fairly convinced here that the vast majority are following the rules. Says if young people were not following the rules then r wouldnt be close to 1.

    Young people as in children?

Sure it would be "uncommon" for them to transmit the virus to other humans anyway, or so we are being told.

Yes they haven't been able to cope with a winter.
    The winter is coming.

I can't remember where I heard that... but this is gonna be a real winter.

Zara King asked him does he agree that the videos show that young people aren't following the rules. He completely disagreed.
