Off-topic, but does anyone know if it reflects badly to cancel a TC because you subsequently was offered another one you want more? How would firms view this?

It happens all the time. Go with the TC in the firm that you want and let the other firm know asap so they can fill your vacancy. The closer you leave it to the commencement of Blackhall the worse it looks on you as they'll have to fill your place last minute.

What are people covering for contract and company? Finding it tough to narrow it down and at this stage I really need to! Any advice would be great. Thanks 😊

Contract from what I have seen looks fairly repetitive in terms of content
    1) consideration
    2) remedies
    3) consumer protection
    all definitely covering

offer and acceptance didn't come up in the last paper which is the first time for that so ill probably cover that too. Discharge comes up quite a lot also.
Exemption clauses and terms didn't come up last time so I would be cautious of that too.
if anyone has any other ideas please let me know cause I'm fairly worried lol

Invitation to treat and insurance contracts didn't come up either - would cover those too

Hopefully we get clearer guidance from Law Society re august results today. They have my nerves shot.

Can I just ask how does the Law Society know which students are the ones hoping to start in September and therefore those students scripts need to be corrected first?

If they had any common sense they should have looked at the lodged PPC1 applications, noted which ones still required Tort to be passed, and pulled those exam papers to be corrected first.

    Yes I was thinking that.

This wait for results is incredibly stressful.. and I’m not even due to start blackhall next week so really feel for those students who are!

With approx a month until the next sitting will it even be possible to get rechecks for Tort/EU whenever the results are finally released?

This is such a shambles to be honest. I've had only a few months of direct contact and dealings with the law society and they're beyond disorganised. To post an announcement on Facebook stating the results were out today (actually meant to be out as of exactly now ironically) and then delete it and say that it was wrong and not even tell us a date of when we're to get this mysterious email that will inform us of the results.

Are the results definitely not out today or has the Law Society not given any guidance at all after deleting the facebook post?

No update since they deleted the post and said we'd be emailed about the results. They didn't give us any time line as to when that is either

Ive been trying to contact them since they posted that on facebook and no one is answering their phone. You get through to reception and get transferred straight away and it rings out. Have sent emails also :(

Wondering if anyone has up to date grids for Constitutional, Equity and Property? Also trying to get my hands on March 2020 papers for these. Just sat recent Tort and EU sittings so have fairly recent materials for them if anyone needs them! Thanks.

Just wondering does anybody have a grid to include March 2020 in Company Law, or alternatively a copy of the paper?

It’s barely a month until the next sitting and I’m all over the place with my study not knowing if I’m sitting 2 or 4 subjects! ;(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 235 ✭✭Iso_123

Are people still working at the moment or studying full time for the October exams? I'm a nervous wreck waiting for the tort results so I can see whether I have to do 3 or 4 exams in October....

I'm working part time and studying for 2 subjects. I'm almost finished my notes for property law, and about 25% through contract. Also waiting for results for Tort and if it's good news I will be fine for the 2 in October. Leaves me with 5 but I am in no rush

There is a slim, slim chance I throw in a 3rd exam to try and have only 4 left since I am flying through my notes atm - but I'd rather pass 2 than put too much strain on me and end up failing all 3 because I divided my attention too much.
