I think you need to look closer. ;)
    (clue: just north of Skibbereen)

Yes, but is it a different whiskey ? It's 11.50 here and I think it's around 30eur in Ireland ?
I mean is this the cheaper version of West Cork Whiskey ?

edit I picked up a bottle and tasted it, quite nice, however I've never tasted West Cork whiskey ...

    I see here https://lafuente.es/tienda/west-cork-single-malt/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwv7L6BRDxARIsAGj-34pjyn7hJNg-03SY9Fuks-FzoKFXWfUmPrI6eJS8Ph9fnjwImxu3BwwaAthcEALw_wcB

30euro in Spanish online shop, so couldn't be the same whiskey ..

West Cork is a distillery that makes multiple whiskeys. The one you linked is a single malt. The blend is cheaper. https://lafuente.es/tienda/west-cork-classic-blend/

The other one you linked to is likely a cheaper blend - more grain, less aged, for the Spanish market. I'm sure it's fine. let us know what you think.

I didn't find this review online. Pretty positive.
But the comment about single males being pale in colour is a bit odd.
I have a bottle of ‘Seven Heads’ Irish Whiskey’ a brand of whiskey I had never heard about until visiting Spain this year.
Having bought a bottle I must admit, it is very mellow, and one that I wish I had purchased many more.
Although a blend, (Blend #10 Premium), as a whiskey drinker of many years and trying many, I think I could fool friends that it’s a single malt, being so pale in colour, congratulations to you for this beautiful product.

Cooley don't, as it's off the beaten track and v industrial - Kilbeggan is their tour outlet.

O'Briens have a whiskey sale on currently and I'm looking to pick up a couple of bottles of stuff I've never tasted. Can anyone recommend anything that's on offer? My preferred drop is red breast 12 and I've tried the more famous premium brands like yellow and green spot. Thinking of getting the method and madness single grain and powers 3 swallow as ive not had either but have read good things. Thoughts on these and/or recommendations welcome!

Writers Tears Red Head Single Malt or Knappogue 12 year are good options.

They post stuff from their main site to Ireland alright. I've relatives up North so I'll use their address. Tastings go on sale this Monday coming.

    Thanks for that.

It's lovely actually, had a few drops the other night, I am no expert on Whiskey but I know what I like, not quite as good as my favourite (Jameson Crested) but very nice for the price ...

I wasnt expecting that either and wouldn't be a big fan of smoke but I thought it was lovely. The 28 year old is another level though

A little drop of 8 year old Highland Black blended scotch, not too shabby at all for about 18 bucks a bottle.

Whiskey can be broadly split into three or four types .Blended (mix of all types) Grain , Malt and maybe Potstill (which can be blended also .

So you could (some one say grossly)oversimplify it to Malt(throaty, peppery bite) and Grain(smooth , minty , fresh) .

Chances are youre either a Malt or a grain(wo)man

    I greatly prefer the Malts

The very best blends will be more than the sum of their contents although many are very low on malt content as its often dearer

Paddy is by far the most grain heavy of the main four Irish 'supermarket whiskies' .Bush(white label) is the most 'malty' (and variable by bottling-sometimes a bit smokey and peaty other times just malty ).Jamesons is quite neutral and Id dare say bland .Powers (gold label) is nice and peppery and currently replacing Bush as my fave every day drinker .

You could do worse than get the pack of four pot still minis .Personally I think Redbreast 12 ,Green and even Yellow Spot(but its finish is very good ) are over rated and your money is better spent elsewhere .

    My recommendations

At 20 euro you wont go far wrong with any of the main 4 but as they reach 25 you might get more bang per buck elsewhere .(Cooley-plain not charred- and the 8 Year old scotch in Lidl nice at 19 euro too)

Black Bush is best 25- 30 euro
    Roe and Coe under 40

Teeling Single Malt around 50 but 55 is getting a bit pricey for it

Teeling Brabazon 1 or 2 or JJ Corry Gael 2 at 75-80 euro
Over that ....no experience alas :-( Actually had some Retronaut 17 at a whisky movie screening and it was lovely but prob not worth the extra 40 over my normal max spend)

I tried the Red Head to save a fiver over my normal Teeling Single malt and wasnt disappointed but its certainly less complex

Order arrived today and I cracked the method and madness, having a glass now. Really enjoying it, lovely smooth flavour and an almost sweet after swallow note in the back of the nose / throat. Very pleased with it.
