I'm sick of the constant scare mongering, this virus is not as bad as we thought it would be. This is great news but for some reason people are twisting everything stat to make it sound like the end of the world.
A recent survey carried out in the UK revealed that people believed that 7% of the population had already died from the virus. That would be 4.5m people which is obviously ridiculous but that is the level of fear in that country. No doubt the figure would be higher here in Ireland.

The people, of course, aren't to blame. It is the politicians and the media feeding them this stuff.

A few people have said it's torture wearing masks while they have a cold. It causes their noses to run more and eyes to water.

Wore a mask on a bus a few weeks back. Not sick or anything but, a serious pain went up my nose for about 20 mins before the end of my journey.

When I got off, I took it off and my nose was like a tap!

Yea but what are they in hospital from? Direct result of catching covid? We're only hearing half the story.

They are still taking up a bed. You do realise we lack hospitals beds and have people waiting on trollies.

unbelievable how some people are that stupid to work with symptoms.

Any symptoms stay the fcuk at home

Stupid isn't always to blame. I know quite a few people who don't get paid if they call in sick, a lot of people working in retail for a start. It's easy to stay at home if you're still going to get paid for it or not have to deal with people putting pressure or roaring down the phone at you to come into work.

I can understand almost every facet of human behaviour around Covid but something like this
:( How could she continue to work knowing she had the virus.

    She mighn't be the brightest.

The trollies are no longer an issue (except a hospital in Cork/Kerry), the season ticket holders of the emergency departments have run away since the virus came in.

Ok can you accept the virus does not seem to be as deadly as we were told last February or March, when we were told 20% would probably need to be hospitalised. Its good news, why are we so afraid of good news.

It's the same virus, it's just affecting a different age group at the moment and possibly testing is picking up a higher % of asymptomatic cases. There's still more being admitted to hospital than being discharged, it's a bad trend.

Assigning blame during a pandemic isn't healthy.
Blame the HSE, government, meat plants, person who infected the person in hospital etc....

Looks like schools are going to have a completely different approach to any other workplace when someone goes home with symptoms of Covid. I'm seriously thinking there's some kind of experiment or deliberate tactic of infection going on in the schools.

    From a piece on rte.ie:
Mr Reid said that the State and public health systems need the schools to support many of their services and they need a functioning school system to support the health services.

He also said that they need children back at school for their own workforce and health care workers so they can have better supports.

He might as well come out and say it, this has little to do with education and more to do with daycare. And I don't blame anyone as that is what most families need but pretending it isn't the case is just stupid.

No deaths in a week and thousands of cases lately

    What's going on?

392 active outbreaks, 252 related to private households

One outbreak in restaurant, resulting in 26 direct cases and 10 others in seperate workplace.
Restaurant had 19 cases - resulted in family outbreak.
Sports club with 6 cases, social gathering followed resulting in 19 further cases.
Retail outlet resulting in 7 cases in staff, who worked when symptomatic.

I think I know the restaurant which had the large outbreak.
I know of 2 cases local to me from there.

You got the first 2 right...

And why would anyone want to blame "meat plants, person who infected the person in hospital etc" for the lack of hospital beds and people on trolley? Nuts!

The vulnerable have been isolated and people are being more careful around them.

Yea I get that, you missed the question though, would they be taking up a bed anyway is what I was getting at?

Do we even know what the top underlying conditions of hospital admissions are, people with asthma, CF, diabetes etc. Who should genuinely be worried, they have everyone worried as it is.
We need more details to try and move on from the climate of fear they've created.

I give up. Hospital figures are trending up. People think it's ok as the deaths and ICU are stable. We don't have an endless supply of hospital beds and currently have people on trollies due to lack of beds. The answer.... Blame the HSE and government and totally ignore the increase in cases is driving the hospital admissions.
