Have the courts service sent invites to the assessment?

Anyone got any any advice as to how to approach the questions - there seems to be so many issue at play - for example social assistance, worker loses job, worker retires, Equality, moves and returns, TCN is pregnant, students. Anyone any advice or comprehensive notes on the topic?

Has it been confirmed that October exams will be online, or is this just a rumour?

I don't think they have decided yet, but to be honest this weeks exams look like a trial run.

Are they just refusing to give a date or you can't get through to them at all?

In previous posts someone said the Law Society indicated that the results would be released in early September (before 8th September I'd imagine). So doubt they will be released this week - could be wrong!

Yeah someone posted on the 17th to say they called them that day and were told this

Will they have results for all released by early September or those that have been prioritised due to the start of their TC's?

Did we ever indicate on the form if we were due to start a TC?

Hi all, sorry if this has been discussed before ... I'm going to attempt the constitutional exam in October - can anyone please advise what cases one should focus on for the case note question or is it like EU and a question to avoid?

I believe I made a mistake with the first links. I've updated it to anyone with the link can view.

    Contract grid: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1v-jxt_9OjGvcmGG1xmoqQc5Yw_HMqR47/view?usp=sharing

That is deadly! Any chance you could do that for company?

I emailed them on the Thursday after EU and they said, in relation to those of us who have 6 exams passed and are waiting to see if we are going to Blackhall -

Please note the release date will be issued shortly to coincide in time for PPC applicants for September 2020

Property: ring the OPW they should post it out in 3-5 days.

Company: you might get a decent second hand copy on adverts?

Wondering, what did people say for Q7 in the Tort August 2020 paper, re the old man Murr and two children?

I pretty much said you’d have to sue the parent, mentioned Curley v Mannion, and then just went on about Murr’s duty in operating the drone, foreseeability of hitting an adult when flying at a child’s head height etc. Was my worst q by a mile

    1. Parent has a duty to control children's dangerous propensities, eg. Sullivan v Creed.

    2. Factual causation - act, second act, injury.

Absolutely hated answering that question. I discussed causation, it's an intentional tort and any novus actus interveniens. Very awkward 5th question for me.

Thanks for that, I was thrown by being asked to advise about an action against Terry specifically rather than the parent but I argued the the parent's liability for children's acts anyway.

I'd recommend answering it - go through the papers and make a list of the cases that have appeared.

This link be mind-boggling but most of these probably aren't relevant to const'l https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Irish_Supreme_Court_cases

I used my college notes that were about 8 years old and read more up to date blogs by academics re constitutional law as well but the holy grain in passing (in 2018 anyway but think everyone probably reads it now) is the Supreme Court book by ruadhan mac cormaic - so helpful, especially for the case note questions!

    Know
    - Grace v An Bord Pleanala
    - Child and Family Agency v McG and JC

THE DÁIL? We didn't really have a government this year so that's topical - be sure to read through that part of Bunreacht and highlight it in advance!

Probably too late to be on the paper but read about Golfgate and be able to pull out a PQ answer similar to it should it appear

    Potential COVID QUESTIONS?
Jot down your thoughts on an A4 about these...
    - Emergency powers
    - Does lockdown affect right to liberty?
    - Freedom of speech during lockdown / conspiracy theorists
    - Do we really have to wear masks? Bodily integrity?
    - John Watters/Gemma O'Doherty caseS could be overlooked by many but not the examiner!
    - You probably have a facebook friend giving off about covid being a worldwide government plan or something so a PQ could be framed from their point of view?

I’ve thought about this myself too, will prob be something I go over briefly but from what I’m aware the paper has been written for a couple of months now so I’d imagine these type of questions would be more likely to appear on the next paper as opposed to the October sittings. But definitely something to keep in the back of your mind and worth looking over.
