Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

A few posts recently looking for a disc bike with electronic shifting - this is still a lot of money but hard to find Etap & discs at that price, plus something that looks a bit different

Aldi have digital suitcase scales for 4.99 which works perfectly on bikes.
Bought one and it very decent for the price and consistently near the same weights each time. Good strong strap for going around the crossbar.

Also then benefits you for going on holiday with Ryanair.

Might work well as a makeshift torque wrench with, say, a 6-inch spanner? You know, 5 foot-pounds equals 10 6-inch pounds. Or Newton Meters if you prefer.
Oh well, they'll probably have torque wrenches in next week.

i'm 181cm in height, 81kg weight - i ordered a pair of santini bibs eariler in the summer, XL as that's my size in cycling gear. a teenager wouldn't get into them. you need to be max 70kg i reckon if you want to get into a pair of santini.

Which is exactly why I ordered 3XL in the bib shorts again.

Inconsistency at its finest, I only have one pair of santini bib tights. Size L, a nice fit, I'm 184cm and north of 80kg on a good day.

Our club gear is santini and it sizes normally. I've a mix of small and medium in shorts and race fit jerseys

    https://www.dare2b.ie/sale/shop-by/activity/cycling

DARE2B sale up to 70% off. I've some of their stuff, while not premium its more than suitable.
Although €7 shipping or free over €90, which is a bit crap.

    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/strava-premium-ps1658-with-brazilian-vpn-for-whole-year-over-50-off-rrp-3529874

Strava premium has not had a promo code or discount in months if not years. Had a look online and could not find anything or anyone getting it discounted.

I personally think the RRP is a bit overpriced but that is for a different discussion.
I tried using a lots of different VPN locations and found Brazil to be the cheapest.

    INSTRUCTIONS:

Download/Startup any VPN (Cheapest VPN's are found on ebay)
    Set Location to BRAZIL.
Visit Strava.com, log in to your account and scroll down to where it says "Subscribe"
Click Subscribe, Click Yearly and then use a fee free card like Monzo to pay.
You will be charged £16.58 for a year.

probikekit have the usual summer sale on but not as good as other years.

got a pair of Castelli competizone bibs for 74 euro (110 euro usually) with code PICK10.

Even easier to do this if you don't want to mess with VPNs:

    Go here https://store.strava.com/en/product/gift/?affiliate=&athlete_id=517767&utm_campaign=&utm_content=&utm_source=
Stick in your username and email. (to gift to yourself)
Select Brazil as the payment country
stick in your Revolut (etc) details
You will be charged £16.58 / €18 for a year.
Gifts stack, so you could add 3 years for the price of a single Irish subscription

Just send yourself two subscriptions and when you apply them it'll put your renewal date out by two more years

Will it work if you use a normal debit card?

I'd say it should. I used revolut but if you just make sure that the dispatch country on the link is Brazil, after that it just required visa numbers etc.

No idea, how long do you think Strava will stay the MySpace of cycling apps?🀔

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,486 ✭✭✭manafana

Used that, don't feel so bad paid the 60 and they prob made site worse in last yr, 18.62 it cost me with N26.

on another note anyone else using elevate plug in on chrome, didn't know just how much it did till my strava view changed and took me a long while to figure out how to get it back.

you can still do it with the VPN, I have just put a year on it.

On the Strava help pages, they say the address to gift someone is - https://www.strava.com/summit/gift But I can't get it to work either.

Well done guys, I have similar with both Spotify for while out cycling and Netflix if I'm on the rollers .
    ;);)
