Thoughts on a Mazda 6 sport 2.2 diesel
    2014 - 2017 range

Just to add a small amount of balance here.

The 2ltr diesel had problems. Stay clear of it.

The 2.2ltr diesels has DPF issues, the same as any other diesel car.

It’s a little more prone to clogging than other diesels I’ve driven but a lot of that can be mitigated through regular long drives.

I’ve owned two of them. They are not the devil that boardsies would have you believe.

The car itself is bulletproof reliable other than the DPF issue. I had zero issues with either of them as I say outside of the DPF. Both times I had the DPF issue it got cleaned and I moved on. Mainly my problem for not using it on motorways enough.

A bit of history first, have had Gti's since 2006, Mk5, Mk6, and 2 Mk7 (I got the first one just after JoeA3 back in 2013).

I traded the last Mk7 into Beshoff Motors March last year, and got into a 530i M Sport. There are a few pictures over on the last GTI tread around Paddys day 2019.

Initially was love at first sight, the car was beautify, picked it up with under 4K miles, a new smell and have only put another 9K miles since ( I few on here know i do micro miles each year).

The love affair has now worn off, nothing wrong with the car exactly but probably not really a correct fit for for me. Love the luxury, the quietness, the fit and finish, so does the Mrs, but its a bit 'big'. Even though I'm extremely careful Iv kerbed the 20" alloys more than once, and parking in tight shopping centers is a constant worry.

The performance is good, not great, but markedly different from the GTi's, lots of midrange torque but "sluggish" getting going.

So last month just missed out on a Blue 330e M Sport, again in Beshoff's. I was literally 1 hour late in putting down a deposit. Found out a few days later that a lad I know well, had actually bought it.

So where to next ? One of the lads I work with just bought a Tesla Long range. 4sec 0-60 , but fully EV and €65K is a bit of a stretch. Looking at a 192 330e M Sport in Colm Quinn on Saturday, and if the cost to change works i may go that way.

But is there something else out there I'm not considering ?

If you do such small mileage why bother with a hybrid?
    I’m thinking six cylinder petrol.

That was a lovely 330e I have to say and I enquired about it myself before I went for the 540i (got berated on this thread for even thinking such a thing:D). It was up for a good while though which surprised me, had a lovely spec and mocha interior was lovely.

So you basically want something a bit smaller but quick and sporty? What about a 340i/440i? It would have to be an import of course.

It was funny actually, I went into Beshoff on that Saturday around lunch time, had a look at the 330e, was about to put down a deposit. Held off and said sure ill do it on the Monday instead.

About 30 min later my mate texts me a picture of the car saying he just bought it, then said that apparently there was some bloke about to put down a deposit just before he arrived... F***er :(

Yes, something 3 series / C class size, and with a bit of poke. Larger capacity petrols are going to depreciate rapidly over the next few years, hence me thinking Hybrid... Was evening thinking Gti again, but the Mrs will kill me if i show up with a new Mk8

Forget about the depreciation between petrols, diesels and hybrids and buy what you really want. Diesels are the enemy supposedly at the moment but hybrids are getting more range all the time driving old models downwards, already I couldnt bring myself to buy a first generation 330e with the range being much lower, I am sure it will happen again with next generation.
Anything nice loses its stones. I think a 330e is right car for you though from what you have said

Playing devils advocate here but Is getting out of a 530i to buy a similar aged 3 series not costing you money though for something no better than what you have?
Slightly smaller alright but not noticeably quicker I’d guess.

Alpha giulia, 430i grand coupe, e or c class 300 amg line, audi s4

Has anyone here moved (or thought about moving) from a Golf R to Tesla Model 3 standard range +?

I’ve a mint 2015 R, and whilst I love it a cost to change of something like €24k to move to a brand new Tesla is tempting...

    If he’s bored in a 530i he’d probably fall asleep in a S4 or a C300.

Price seems quite low for that spec, condition and lack of mileage.

It's not really. I got a 2014 530d msport with similar mileage to that in 2018 for same price. From UK admittedly but had it on Irish plates for 20k. Later that year in December my girlfriend got an Audi a6 s line 2014 with similar mileage from an Irish dealer. Again, 20k euros.

This is a private sale in Waterford, its a year older than either of my purchases were and no better condition or mileage. Its being sold by an Eastern European who are known to buy and flip cars regularly. Nothing against them, but I doubt its his pride and joy. I doubt it will even sell. Has the 3 litre engine going for it I suppose but for 90% of buyers, that will go against it.

Defo not a bargain, and defo no catch.
Possibly a decent purchase for somebody though.

Hi folks sorry just wondering do any of you guys have clarity on the nct extension? I recently purchased a car with nct until March 21 but when I checked the donedeal ad it seemed it had July on it? I got the car for a good price so not really worried but just wanted some clarity

You are right Mark that's a lovely a5 and they are making lovely cars these days. I'd love to move to something smaller like an a4/5 or a 3/4 series from the a6 and 5 series I've been driving but I just find the interiors suffer compared to their big brothers, especially in the Audi. Nothing wrong with them, just the higher range ones are class. For me, interior trumps driving dynamics. Funny enough I think the a3 saloon in s line is the best looking car audi make.
