I think I created a thread like this one of the other years.

Hopefully we can find some hidden gems and I'll try keep the top post updated so people won't have to keep scrolling.

DISCLAIMER * OPINIONS ARE FROM DIFFERENT PEOPLE*

    Arsenal

    Defenders

Saliba is 4.5 and no reason he couldn't start at Arsenal

    Aston Villa

    Defenders

Steer to start for Villa for the first month as a 4.0 keeper until Heaton is fit should be happening

    Crystal Palace

    Defenders

Nathan Ferguson 4M Palace right back. Potential Starter.

    Everton

    Defenders

Jarrad Branthwaite 4M Everton centre back. Potential Starter

    Midfielder

Gordon 4.5M midfielder for Everton. Very attacking. Started most games post COVID19. Can see him getting a lot of gametime. Good enabler.

    Leeds

    Defenders

Luke Ayling Leeds 4.5m Full back got a few goals last season. I think he’s vice captain so a likely starter

    Southampton

    Defenders

Kyle Walker Peters is priced at 4.5 for Southampton.Started 6 of the last 7 games last season (on loan at Southampton) plus was brought on at HT for 45 mins v Brighton. Signed him on a permanent basis so obviously liked what they seen

    Wolves

    Defenders

Vinagre for Wolves at 4.5 if Jonny is out injured for a while. Looks like Jonny did his ACL so could be out for the season.

Good chance they could have a new keeper or Nyland or Kalinic?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,057 ✭✭✭Brian201888

Could potentially bring someone in but if not I'd expect Steer to be number 2 this year over Nyland. Kallinic will leave and if we don't have a taker for Nyland we won't buy another reserve keeper since Heaton is due back towards end of September I believe

Leeds' Dallas at 4.5m is always looking to get forward and near the opposition box. O'Shea could be useful too for WBA at 4.5m if he starts, but perhaps Bilic will want a more experienced head to begin the campaign.

If Steer is fit he would be ahead of those 2 in the pecking order. Smith and Kalinic have no relationship and Nyland has wasted every chance he got, whereas Steer’s one chance in the team resulted in an unexpected promotion. Love that guy.

I see Neil Murray tweeted similar and “likely to be one of the first name on the team sheet”. I’m thinking that’s a bit much. He’s only 19 and has only played 28 games in France. Hopefully we’ll get more word on him but I think it’s unlikely so far.

Kyle Walker Peters is priced at 4.5 for Southampton

Started 6 of the last 7 games last season (on loan at Southampton) plus was brought on at HT for 45 mins v Brighton.

Didn't have any G/A but worthy as an enabler in a decent team.

Signed him on a permanent basis so obviously liked what they seen.

    +1

    Was very impressed with him.

    A worthy Cedric (obsession) replacement.

    Other Southampton options:

McCarthy (4.5) seems a decent GK option but I'd plump for KWP's potential attacking returns.

Bednarek 4.5. Solid CB but KWP seems a better option.

    Midfield:
    Romeu decent 4.5 enabler

On the Leeds assets, I've been reading a lot about Stuart Dallas (4.5) too. Should start LB.

He had 5 goals 3 assists for Leeds last season and apparently is played OOP at times in a RW/LW/CM position.

According to some on Twitter, Bielsa will most likely play full strength in friendlies so should tell us a lot.

EDIT: Sorry Mr Nice Guy, only realised you mentioned Dallas too :o

Could douglas get a game at leeds at left back for 4m? Was decent at wolves before moving there. Wasnt first choice last year but might get some gametime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,483 ✭✭✭macraignil

Would Lamptey at Brighton be a good option at 4.5mill? Seemed to be getting his game fairly regular after the lock down. Only one assist but playing as a wing back in some games might bring more assists next season. Any Brighton fans know if he looks to have made his case as the regular full back for this season?

Could be an idea to get him alongside Dallas - in case Dallas got injured or dropped

Douglas is on his way to Scotland by all accounts. I'd avoid.

Souchek is 5m, seems like very good value, someone described him as West Ham’s fellanini

I'm not a Brighton fan but he looks like a very good player. He's very direct and fast, I think he's one to watch too.

If Brewster goes on loan, he could be good at 4.5. started every game bar 1 on loan in the championship this season, and he still scored in that game. 22 games 11 goals in his first senior season after a bad injury. I'd expect him to start if he goes on loan. Maybe Leeds?

If he stays at Liverpool, he won't be an option IMO.

Good thread, plenty added to my watchlist

    Goalkeepers
    - much slimmer pickings this year than usual, only 5 starting GK’s under 5m. McCarthy is the standout for me. Outperformed Ryan in 2020 and Hassenhuthl has Southampton looking more solid.

    Defender
    - Justin. Pereira is injured and Chilwell May leave so this lad will play for Leicester
    - Pieters. For those of us not going for Pope, you’ll probably want a Burnley defenders (they’ve only 2 over 4.5m). This lad played on the wing since lockdown and got 5 assists.
    - Vinagre as other mentioned, is great value with Johnny out
    - Johnston (4.0 West Ham). Zabaleta is too old, Ngakia was sold, and Fredericks hasn’t set the world alight. Played 90mns in the last 3 during lockdown

Hard to get excited about any forward or mid, I’m thinking of starting with Soucek and a 4.5 fodder defender

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,916 ✭✭✭2nd Row Donkey

What about FPL legend Hegazi of WBA. 4.5m.

Last time WBA were in the EPL he scored a hat full of points in the opening months before trailing off as the season went on.

I actually looked at him this morning. He only scored 2 goals that season. I thought he was more prolific than that. Last season he was in and out of the team, only one goal

Zabaleta has left West Ham as well.

And the Hammers are in the market looking for a new right-back so it's very hard to see Johnson getting any significant minutes this season.

He had a couple assists, clean sheets and baps in the first 5-6 games and was only 4m. He did trail off badly after that but had a little renaissance in the 2nd half of the season if I recall correctly.

He was worth a punt last year at 4.3m and oop as a midfielder in the game. Villa in the market for another striker & Wesley on his way back so don’t expect much game time for Keinan this year. Smith rates him (as do I) but he’s not yet shown an ability to score goals at this level. Hopefully a championship loan helps him.

Ryan Sessegnon is listed as a 5.0 defender.

Going on my watch list if he gets a run in MF for Spurs or goes out on loan.

Think one was on opening GW, a 14 pointer iirc and the wagon went on and on for weeks.

Newcastle, Villa, Brighton & Palace are looking to take him on loan.

Brighton could be an interesting loan for him, but I'm not sure what that would mean for Aaron Connolly and/or Maupay. Maybe Brewster would be 3rd choice.

Anguissa for Fulham 4.5m midfielder, was on loan at Sociedad last season and did well but Sociedad couldn’t afford to make him permanent.

Juan Foyth (4.5m) started for Spurs in a fairly full strength friendly yesterday. Aurier looks set to join Milan so could be a cheap Spurs defender

Seems to want to stay at Spurs.

I can’t fully make heads nor tails of how that team would have lined out though. Was it Davies at CB and Foyth at RB? Given Sessegnon LB that surely can’t be their first choice back 4 under Mourinho of all people?

The usual Mourinho is 4-2-3-1, going by twitter reports, first half yesterday was
    Gedson Foyth Toby Davies
    Winks Hoijberg
    Moura Alli Sessegnon
    Son

Will keep an eye on them for the rest of preseason.

Yeah, worth keeping an eye on, but until I see a back 4 that I could believe, I’m less inclined to buy into anybody in it. If Foyth is still in there and they’ve improved those 2 FB positions then at 4.5 he would be a dead cert imo if Mourinho’s usual 2nd season team holds true.

Is anyone considering the Leicester defender Thomas at 4.5?

Played a bit towards the end of last season filling in for Chilwell.

If he's nailed at LB i think he could be a better long term option to Justin, who'll lose his place when Ricardo Pereira is fit in a few gameweeks.

On the FPL site, Fuchs is ruled out until October 24th whereas they've Pereira due back on October 1st.

Woudln't take those dates as gospel but gives a bit of a guide and I don't think Fuchs would walk into the team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,483 ✭✭✭macraignil

FPL site has Tyrick Mitchell as a potential starting 4mill left back until van Aanholt is back from injury.

There is talk of Rob Holding being loaned out to Newcastle where he could be a starting 4.5mill centre half instead of Lascelles.

Read someone advocating Harrison Reed who has just made the permanent switch to Fulham and is claimed to be first choice in the defensive midfield options at 4.5mill and could be this year's TPT.

Lascelles is the Newcastle captain surely he
    Wouldn't be dropped if fit?

Harrison Reed had a good run on loan last year at Fulham, he was always solid when he got minutes at Southampton in Premier League. Should be a good option at 4.5.

    .

They just conceded 5 goals in a pre-season friendly with Lascelles playing and he got a red card as well for an off the ball incident so I'm not sure if Holding would replace him or not. Fernandez seemed to be getting much better FPL points than any other Newcastle centre half last season so I would expect him to play and it seems from the preseason games that Bruce is looking to move away from the 5 at the back.

Just pointing it out as something to keep an eye on. Don't see enough of the games to know what way it would go really.

I don't think Steve Bruce will pick his team based on FPL points. I think he will definitely be starting his captain and leader, Lascelles
