    I can't remember what Leo and Simon has implemented. They brought in a sugar tax. It really was a window dressing and begging for votes exercise. They would have been better off for children who needs a medical card on medical grounds to be given a card regardless of age and implementing a system where GP visits are reduced for children like from 50 euro a visit to 10 or 15 euro a visit.


    Aside from the tax and the free medical cards for under 6s I can't think of anything else thay did.

    What’s the problem with keeping kids at home, ? Remote learning just has to be a thing for now. Not ideal but it’s where we are at. School isn’t a baby sitting service, it’s an educational institution designed to provide learning.

    School environment is just another community setting. With low community spread, risk is low, as the virus does not spontaneously erupt from nowhere. It will be a constantly evolving situation though. Whats the alternative?

    Has anybody else since this started, noticed a prevalence of chuggers, more than usual ? Ok I’d normally be elsewhere but it’s about one a week here ?

    I’m sorry, but I know donations are a huge part of charities income but the world has changed in the manner as to which they can and should be soliciting funds. Going door to door is a no no... I know the government have a lot to be contending with but putting a temporary legal ban on this would be a help, knowing how pushy a lot of them are...

    One just called next door, was dealt with expeditiously, firmly, yet politely... called here , door wasn’t answered but I heard the mailbox open, probably a flyer...

    Missed reading this yesterday. They found it was a cardiac issue after getting if the plane? Surely as a precautionary measure, the people on board should have been told to self-isolate, until they found out the exact problem.

    How many are we going to let away like this? If someone on-board has a little cold, then what?

    It seems like we are acting too late in things and it's the same type of behaviour with plane loads from Italy.

    I was referred for a test on Monday morning in Dublin and still waiting to get one. Has anyone had own recently and knows how long I should expect to wait? :( I was coughing slightly on Monday and was back in the office for the first time but now back to WFH and sooo fed up. I’m barely even coughing any more but would feel irresponsible if I didn’t isolate :/

    Yes my kids have met up with other kids but they have not been in a small room with 30 other kids for 6 to 7 hours a day.
    If you cant keep headlice out of a school what hope for the virus.
    I have 3 kids, two who I'd be happy enough to go back but 1 have one who is high risk. I've asked the school what is in place and was told he would be in a pod with his class. So no change

    Why are we back to this again and not getting tests done as soon as possible? It's like March all over again.

    Now can someone explain how Ireland was doing so great when this is the sh!t that's happening?

    Ring them today. Family member got a referral on Monday morning, test yesterday afternoon. Your GP may have forgotten to send the referral on.

    With the clusters in the midlands there is a likelihood they are prioritising close contacts in some centres however.

    Over 90% of all referrals are swabbed within 36hrs.
    You're only hearing about the 10% who were waiting longer. You will rarely hear someone say they got tested within a day etc... And if you do, you certainly won't see that as encouraging. Instead you jump onto any and all negativity.

    It's a HSE system they use while you're on the phone, my doctor's receptionist actually did it for me as he wasn't in.

    You should get an SMS from 'swiftQueue' eventually but that is a while to be waiting, completely pointless if that's what they're at.

    It was "supposedly" 48 hours for all as in test and result, gone bad it seems again with testing delays

    and im not a teacher, we're parents with full time jobs working from home due to covid, keeping food on the table.

    Principles will have a duty of care to implement safe environments for all - for staff and pupils. I would be more concerned about primary schools because of the younger ages. Schools are supposed to be going back in a few weeks. What are the plans? Send them back and have 30 kids per room? There won't be any social distancing happening there.

    Make no mistake about it, teachers and parents of children can and will go down the legal route of compensation if infection grows within the school and classroom environment if neglect has occurred. What needs to happen is to make the environment as safe as possible to minimise as much risks. Putting 30 children in a class isn't going to cut it.

    I'm not sure. My eldest is to start school next week. So I can update you on their plans.
    As of now all I know is I can't enter the building, no parents can.
    But so far alls good, kindergarten wise for sure.

    Kids will be fine, there won't be any effect on them from covid.
