I updated my oneplus 7T on Friday but anytime I put on the battery saver mode nothing happens and I don't get any notification that the mode is actually on. Also since the update my battery doesn't seem to last as long as it would have done before the update.

Yeah I've found the same with last update for the 7T, battery is lasting as long

Can anyone recommend a case for the 7T Pro please?

I’ll be purchasing in the coming days and had my eye on the Spigen brand via Amazon?

Also a screen protector please. I believe the Spigen doesn’t fit with the official One Plus screen protectors?

    Thank you! :)

I have the Spigen SlimArmor cover for my 7T Pro and I'm happy enough with it. A little stand is a nice extra for propping up the phone for watching videos.

As for screen protector, I could also do with one. I have a film type on my screen at the moment but it's a bit rubbish. Don't remember what brand it was.

  • I asked this on the 8 thread but nobody is posting there - I'm between a 7T and an 8, for either phone should they work on any network in Ireland? Even if 5g didn't work immediately I could live with it.

I've bought my last few phones from Amazon. If the price isn't much different I'd purchase from Amazon over other sources.

Their service is great. For example, my 7Pro had the ghost touch issue. The updates didn't fix it. I got onto Amazon a few months ago and they asked me if I wanted a replacement phone or a refund. I took the refund and purchased the 8.

I've bought several phones from Amazon for myself and family members. It's never been an issue with them working in Ireland. I can't speak for 5g as I don't have it (Gomo) and don't really care about it at the moment.

Honestly I wouldn't be worrying about 5G right now. It's not rolled out enough around the country to take full advantage of it. I bought the 7T from Amazon.de and no issue working on the network here. Just keep in mind they ship it with a two pin plug, but an adapter sorts that.

Anyone having trouble with Google Play Services eating the battery on their 7T?

I had similar issues. It seemed to be google play services / the covid 19 app eating my battery. I uninstalled the covid 19 app and rebooted my phone and then disabled bluetooth for now. (Disabling bluetooth probably not required but did it as I was wondering if it was relating to a bug or issue with the new contact tracing apis or something. So not sure if issue with the covid app itself or what. But seems to be behaving now. Will try enable bluetooth later when I can be at a place that I can charge it realiabily.

Anyone having trouble with Google Play Services eating the battery on their 7T?

Had it on my 6t since yesterday.
Drained the battery in less then 4 hours several times including when not in use.
    Phone very hot as well.
I first tried rebooting and clearing the cache that way but still the same.
I fixed it by going into settings- apps- Google play services- storage - clear cache.

I done some more apps as well that way.
Phone cooled down straight away and battery usage back to normal... better even

Edit... As post above... Covid app using a lot as well.

Me too on a oneplus 8. Persisted after a reboot.
I force stopped the play services and the Covid app and it seems OK now.

Same for me, don't think it's specific to OnePlus devices.
My phone battery was nearly drained after 5 hours.
I cleared data as mentioned above and it's working fine again.
Probably an update to Google Play Services that's fecked up COVID app.

Happened me today too. Thought was a OnePlus issue but wifes and mothers phones (both Samsungs) had the same problem

yea same as that . op7. updated this morning , latest update aug security patch ,
then within 1 hour almost 40% battery gone , google play services (according to the battery monitor)_
just checked again , fully charged 1 hour 50 ago , has lost 30% already ,
i haven't touched it in that time , been sitting on the table . says battery will last till 04:12 !!!!
google play and covid app seem to be the only things using the battery in that time.
sent email to https://www.nearform.com/contact/ , not sure if it will do any good , but may
for now im gonna uninstall app and see if phone makes it through the night .

just got a reply from nearform ,
they are aware of the problem and are working with google to fix it . seems it was the google update that caused the damage .

Same problems here. I've just uninstalled the Covid app to see if battery drain rectifies overnight.

I hadn't updated my phone at the time of mine doing it.

Having the same issue with my 7TPro.

Google Play Services and Covid App are the culprits.

Is the best solution (while we wait for a Google / Nearform fix) to go into both apps, clear cache and reboot the phone?

A force stop of the two apps worked for me. Yesterday the battery drained twice, a reboot didn't help.
Today it seems back to normal, Google Play Services is showing as using 1% since my last full charge of 11 hours ago and the Covid app doesn't register.

How do you force stop Google Play Services? I force stopped the Covid app but it's not an option when I go into Google Play Services.

It is for me. When I go into the Google Play Services App info I get an option for Disable & Force Stop. I'm on a OnePlus 8. Maybe there's a difference but I'd have thought the software versions should be pretty much the same.

Feck that's hard lines,,, is it the charging port not working?
If so that can get bunged up with dust, hair etc etc
Can be cleaned out, tooth pick etc etc

    I bet this is it.
Stuffing in and out of your pocket over time jams the dust and lint into the socket and plugging in the USB cable wedges it in there. Eventually it prevents the connector going in far enough to charge the device.

Do you keep it in your pocket?
If so do you put it in USB side down or USB side up?

Not in a jeans pocket but in a coat or car(loose)my son had it for a year since new and he kept it good, still has the screen protector etc, as he knew I wouldn't buy him a new one this past Christmas if he damaged the one plus
