People get angry when dealing with change.
They direct at whatever they can.
Time to get angry was when we published a green list
and they thought there was zero chance of reseeding an outbreak.

but economy etc. This will cost more then quarantining travellers. (not just the ethnic minority!)

There was some emphasis on house parties during the conference which is probably one of the most reckless and selfish activities a person can engage in at the moment.

It is pathetic that social media influencers are deemed the most effective way of getting this message across to younger people.

No it's just an acknowledgement that some demographic cohorts get information in very different ways. Social media is where you'll find them so that's the way to go.

So close the off licences. Pubs have had 0 influence on house parties, centra, spar, Tesco and Lidl are creaming it though.

Things are beginning to trend very badly. I would vainly consider myself one of the more rational posters on here but even the most enthusiastic must now be beginning to see that things are trending very very badly in the wrong direction.

Clusters are fine when they're a once off that can flush through the system within two weeks and be forgotten about. Realistically NPHET and the HSE knew about these clusters a few days before we did so we're nearly three weeks down the road with some of them (namely the Newbridge one) and there is still large numbers being connected to them.

What's even more worrying is that the source of these clusters (direct provision, meat factories, halting sites to a certain extent) are all organisations that the HSA and like minded authorities should have fairly heavy hands in ordinarily and even more so during a global health emergency the likes of which has never been seen. It begs a question WHAT ARE THEY DOING???

Meanwhile, I know I criticize a lot of people and the media for rambling on about travel but we are months behind other countries in their pro-active common sense approach of testing incoming passengers while we insist on a paddy whackery approach of "please restrict your movements" a nonsense vague guidance with absolutely zero enforcement.

Agree, we may have to go back to Phase 1 to get a handle on things. That's where I think we could be going quicker than anticipated.

The next time we ease restrictions there has to be massive learnings from this in relation to the institutions you mentioned.

Well it is obvious that this virus is not dying out at all. And probably never will either.

Control it you Government now, instead of giving updates on spikes in factories and Asylum centres, get on top of it right now thanks.

The majority of the rest of us have observed the rules.

No getting away from it those clusters are troublesome but lets hope they are got under control eventually and community transmissions do not increase.

County numbers the last 11 days*

    Kildare 141
    Dublin 107
    Laois 45
    Offaly 35
    Clare 27
    Limerick 22
    Cavan and Wexford 11
    Donegal,Meath and Cork 9
    Mayo 7
    Galway and Sligo 5
    Westmeath 4
    Louth 3
    Leitrim and Tipp 2
    Kilkenny,Kerry,Monaghan,Carlow,Wicklow 1
    Waterford,Roscommon,Longford 0

*Clare,Cork,Donegal,Galway,Limerick,Louth,Meath and Wexford have a few cases to be added but awaiting on that info tomorrow.

With at least another 60 cases from Laois,Offaly and Kildare to be added to Fridays cases its clear to see why Dr Glynn has given a warning to the people living in those area but more needs to be done to stop these cluster outbreaks from happening in the weeks and months

As a poster pointed out yesterday, the whole world hasn't a clue what to do or bad this may get this Winter or beyond. The talk of a vaccine by early 2021 is just that, talk.

All i know is sooner or later the money is going to run out and then the real fun starts.

You can't repeat the same mistakes and expect a different outcome. Without control of our borders were pissing in the wind.

Well, pissing in the wind isn't going to help either. Pee pee has Covid-19 too you know :p

I'm not for the first moment claiming we should close down meat plants entirely.

    But.

If the HSA is not fit for purpose in carrying out inspections, NPHET or Bord Bia or whatever agency oversees these things needs to step in and say "We have these guidelines for the safe operation of meat plants. Given the risky nature of working conditions in such settings, if they are not followed to letter, these premises need to close and they can apply for Pandemic Unemployment support until the measures are taken so that they are compliant".

There blatantly needs to be new appointments to the HSA in order to oversee these regulations. It's a free for all at the moment.

Also it's never a bad thing when problematic, possibly unsanitary factory farming is highlighted and prevented. For the sake of the workers in these places, the animals who are bred and eventually slaughtered in them and the carnivores that are going to be ingesting them (dogs, humans etc).

Out of interest, anyone know the brands of dog food that they make? I'd be interested to know, has anyone bought any recently and are you going to be feeding it to your dog?!

Unless you've solved the NI problem and the government up there agree to cut themselves off from the UK, we can't get to zero because we share a border with NI.

Plus can you imagine the outrage if we had a few more weeks of lockdown? Half the country thinks the government should be allowing pubs to reopen.

Kildare was well ahead of the national average from the early stages of these statistics- is it behavioural or something else unique to that county?

We won't be going back to phase 1. Its been said multiple times by members of NPHET. The criteria to look at rolling back some measures to phase 2 (targeted measures) is 100+ cases per day with sustained community transmission.

Well they are trying, but they don't have the experience of the previous Administration.

Clear messages are what people observed back then. It is not the same now at all. One day this, next day the other. And cases are rising.

Sick of it now. Sorry for the rant.

eh?? It's politicians spreading the virus

We were told to social distance but no some, the ah sure we can't get it or we are young we won't get sick or die people can't follow a simple rule.
We were asked to wear masks but no some people don't want to wear them because they think it does no good or some other reason.
We were asked to only spend 1.45 hours max in the pub but no some people can't even do that.

If people can't follow simple rules for theirs and other peoples safety then infections will go up.

Previous administration did a better job and people had more confidence in them no confidence in this lot there was clusters in meat factories months ago

What's the NI problem, are you telling me the Spanish wouldn't further annex Gibraltar if they thought it was a threat.
To say we can't control our borders is ludicrous, have you an Irish passport if not f off. It's really that simple. I'll gladly go help control a border checkpoint as so will many others.
