So cases still rise after the gov advised masks, in your head this makes masks useless so we just shouldn't bother? You don't think cases rising might have anything to do with us moving out of lockdown?

Its literally right there what I said, right in front of you, you quoted it. How can you read this into my words?

Sure the government didn't tell you not to lick the glass or handrails as a way to stop the virus and cases still went up so go on and lick those rails to your hearts content you can't get the virus that way

I seen about 5 % compliance in Gourmet Tart in Salthill, Galway today, OK its a cafe which was fairly busy and you can't expect to be masked when sitting down having a coffee, but at the takeaway section there was 15 people in a queue and only me and one other masked, pretty ridiculous at this stage with the cases increasing. FF need to make the masks mandatory a proper law.

We're being told to wear masks inside shops and buses. But chemists? That seems like different story with the person I saw today. Talking away to the assistant with her mask down around on her chin.

Masks are not a fashion accessory. Cover your mouth and nose, covidiot.

No, just wear a mask if going to enclosed places where others are. Wash your hands and engage in social distancing. Is anything about that wrong?

The only mask proven to stop the spread of viruses is the n95 mask but hardly anybody wears them. Cloth and surgical masks are useless according to some experts usually the non politically influenced experts.

Every expert says that they reduce the rate of transmission. Back to the drawing board for you

I return to the office 10th August , should I wear a mask indoors all day mixing with 30 to 40 colleagues ?

I’ll be spending longer time daily with them than I would in any retail/ indoor venue .
Our employer has decided that working from home is over and we all return to the office next Monday .
    I guess I should wear a mask ?

Is it really that much of a upheaval to your life to have to wear a mask? It’s just a strip of fabric over your face. I don’t understand the fuss.

No one is taking away your civil liberties or human rights by asking you to wear. This about saving lives.

Sorry, you are wrong there they say the cloth and surgical masks only prevent the biggest droplets while letting smaller droplets through.

Please read my posts. I consistently that masks reduce the rate of transmission. Now have a think about that. Do you see the difference in the use of reduce and prevent. Now, which do you think doesn’t reduce reduce the rate of transmission and allows all virus droplets escape....I’ll give you a clue, it’s two words and contains the words no and mask.

Fewer droplets means less viral load meaning less chance of infection. They dont have to stop every droplet emitted to make a difference.

If you're concerned report your employer to the HSE. They should be allowing people who can to continue working from home.

Yes. Offices are high risk. Everyone else in the office should be wearing one too. If they are not, personally i would not go in.

Is this still the case that those who can work from home must do so? We have been told our office has been made a safe place to be as per the return to work safety protocol. We have online training on office procedures in the next couple of days and all staff expected to the office Monday morning for work .
    Thanks

It is an excellent summary also, of what we have been saying here as long back as three months ago.

I'm just wondering in light of some recent posting here, is there a simpler version with maybe coloured pictures and using less complicated words such as 'asymptomatic' ?

Perhaps also maybe rhymes like '1,2,4 and 8 doubles new cases at a very fast rate' to explain exponential. :D

It's gonna be hard to make it more simple. We need to control source right, which is mouth and nose, think we know that from the start. If we won't do that, we can be swimming in hand sanitizer and cases will still go on. But yeah there are still people out there, who will refuse to understand it. And don't forget, people can get offended by pictures, so it will need very sensible approach :D

With the Mandatory face coverings next Monday,Can you wear a Faceshield instead of a mask?.Nothing said about this by Government.I bought one like a pair of glasses with a visor made by Clear Shield

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,814 ✭✭✭Darc19

Yes. The official name is a "face covering"

A plastic shield is a face covering.

Face shields are absolutely useless on their own.

I'd imagine it's like the UK
However, guidance advises that you should either buy reusable or single-use face coverings, or create a face covering out of a scarf, bandana, religious garment or other fabric material.

The face covering must also "securely fit round the side of the face", suggesting a visor may not be suitable.

According to the guidance, face coverings should be made of a breathable material that you find comfortable, and be secured to the head with ties or ear loops.

There's no reason for you to get dizzy with a mask other than your own anxiety driven claustrophobia.

Maybe try wearing one at home a bit and just getting used to it?
