Excellent news on the masks in shops as well as the non opening of drinking only pubs.

So, and before I get attacked I am not complaining, do they believe schools opening is relatively safe given that they are telling people to avoid contact, or accepting that it is a necessary risk?

I would have thought loads of kids mixing and coming home every day to mammy and daddy, and mammy and daddy subsequently bringing their kids infections with them while going for a takeaway pizza in the local pub would have been a tad risky no?

I think the risk is a lot lower for transmission from kids under 10, from what I've seen/heard.

The security guard on minimum wage ;)

I hate this prevailing attitude that people on minimum or low wages somehow can't be trusted to do a good job. It's an awful slight on people in this income bracket.

I was on a plane a few years ago from Abu Dhabi and the guy sitting next to me was getting a connecting flight from Malaysia to return to work in Ireland. He has just been home for the first time in 4 years to see his wife and son. His job was to chop the heads off chickens in a meat factory in Cavan or Monaghan I think and he said they went through thousands of chickens every week.

He said he shared a room with 4 others and said there was a lot of violence and alcoholism. He was very upset and it was pretty clear he didn’t want to be on that flight. There are lots of videos and articles about workers suffering from PTSD from working in these hellholes and it’s not surprising that viruses can thrive in these settings.

And what do you do when people refuse? Do you physically stop them from enterting your shop? Call the police?

Yeah the same way you stop people coming in when you're social distancing, closing etc.

Do you think we live in some sort of mad max dystopia where 99.9% of the population won't comply with the rules?

It was completely the opposite hence the ;)

The poor fookers just doing their job will be expected to do it which is lousy. I can guarantee you will have the loopers and scum outside lidl and also causing hassle that their ‘rights’ are being infringed by being told they can’t get in without a mask. The one that will have to deal with us is the low paid security guard. Why should they have to deal with crap like that. Let the guards do it.

No every family is going for pizzas in the local, in fact a lot of people i know are still avoiding going near pubs and cafes.
Also according to reports kids spread the virus less than adults.

not sure how people are trying to justify the pubs opening back up right now, we all know it will be a **** show, back to super hard lock down, why? so some moron who is on boards can got for a pint??
no thanks - ****ty for publicans and they should get extra help, but **** opening the pubs.

You don’t serve them and ask them to leave .. if they refuse to leave the premises when asked then you call the police. Most people will move fairly quickly once you threaten to call the guards .

As someone who was on minimum wage as security, I worked my bollox off and did the best job I could, why? So I wouldn't be on minimum wage any more......

    a tail of four countries
    Ireland
    Israel
    South Korea
    Taiwan

    Israel
got down to 1.5 cases per million after lock-down and then opened up and closed the team running the tests
now around 200 cases per million

    South Korea and Taiwan
learned the lessons from SARS and MERS
they did not have to lock down, Masks, strong contact tracing, quarantine for incoming travelers, and free tests for all.
if you are having a hard time seeing them most days are less then 1 per million

    Ireland
we got down to 1.3 cases per million and started to open up
when people ask to open up more i understand, but what do you think will happen. cases will rise. so we need to balance how open we are and the number of cases were ok will, what number is that?
what is too much work for you that you are ok for the numbers to go up

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I remain dubious on the issue with pubs opening with strict distancing measures being riskier than the ones currently serving food.

I hear this as well from family but for sound mental health it's best to stop looking at them. It's probably as good as it's going to get on masks. CU is not where it's spreading anyway.

you said and i quote "**** my kids" classy yea?
As for kids and schools VS pubs.
The kids wont be ****ing drunk gob****es , unsupervised and being all round knobs.

and finally the blame game, kids will do what is asked of them, unlike the ignorant stupid cvunts wandering around with no masks , holding house party's and just being total wanke4s , well its not the kids doing that is it?

Delighted you will have to wait for your pint, just for you i hope its longer the better - i can wait.
