Is boards very slow for other posters. I keep getting returned to a page or two back from the most recent. It's making this thread hard to keep up with.

It's been wobbling for me for about an hour now

Yes it is faulty. Just press F5 and it refreshes back to the last page.

Name one time I've launched a personal attack on a poster here. Name one.

Where did I say personal attack?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,767 ✭✭✭✭ACitizenErased

The contact tracing app just passed 1.5 million registrations

I've been personally attacked on this thread multiple times by your so-called victims. But it's pot calling the kettle black, yeah, right.

I'm not sure how that would work. I mean they need a court order to obtain a DNA sample.
Drink drivers don't have to provide a breath/urine/blood sample either.
Can't imagine they could get that quickly enough.
Would be better to quarantine people who refuse a test. That could be covered legally under current infections disease control.

The government needs to pass a law for mandatory forced quarantine and testing also at ports, borders and airports here too for all incoming passengers even returning Irish

I'm having problems too - the thread jumps back several pages by times, and I've had an exception error message too.
    I'm using the touch site

    Thats an incredible number.

Does it need to be manually downloaded or does it imbed itself with updates?

Looks like its a game of wait and watch now to see where the boat swerves. I expect we see more compliance from people to keep this under control. The new normal wont be the old habits.

I think once the majority keep compliance we will be in a decent spot. If it's confined to clusters and they can contain them, it's good. Remember the Sligo one, all the worry etc... That was quickly contained. With cases so low, clusters cause massive increases.
The meat factory's were a **** show, but we had high numbers daily, so it didn't cause massive shifts in numbers.

The fact that there was no clusters directly linked to restaurants is kinda a welcomed surprise.
And you also have to remember, on the clusters on building sites and factories, those work places weren't closed down for long. It's not like it's just happened because they opened back up in a previous phase.

I think we're just going to have to expect and live with clusters. It's the community transmission that would be scaring me if it jumped as quick and high as the clusters.

I won't say it too often but the app has to be one of the most impressive actions taken to date by government agencies and cudos to those that got the public on board so quickly.

Yes it's slow and doesn't allow to do a "copy pasta" to a link I want to share. The box with Please enter the URL of your link isn't working for me.

On the testing at points of entry (you cannot do it on the border with the north, people be swabbed a dozen times on a 10 mile journey). On arrival, especially a plane, they could divide the plane into 3, front, middle and back. Swab everyone and pool test all the front, middle and back as 3 groups. If they come back negative, good stuff. If someone in the front comes back positive, they can then test all in the front and alert the middle section they may be a close contact.

The only issue is we have a testing limit.
The pool testing would help, but there's also a limit of swab testing available, around 12k a day.
I'm not sure if they can ramp that up or how long delays would be at airports. You don't really want a large crowd from different flights congregating for too long.

Yeah you can't even put together a genuine argument as to when I have stooped as low as that lot. Good luck and God bless, I'm off to the pub.

I think you're one of the better posters on here to be honest, if that comes across as an attack then I apologise. I've no issue admitting when I'm wrong.

fair play to you. i disagree with most things you say, but at least you can be civil to people and are open to correction at times.

Has to happen, I'm friends with a working from home public servant, decided to feck off to a non green list country for a holiday, came back last Sunday, met them out in a crowded area jogging last night, no mask on, shouldn't be out amongst people, I like them but I'm annoyed at their stupidity and them been on the pubic payroll is just taking the piss.

The factory was linked to direct provision centres in Naas and Portlaoise as far as I know

What ever happened to the instant / 15 minute covid tests that were talked about previously- did none work out? They could really help solve a lot of our issues

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,513 ✭✭✭bb1234567

Can't see pubs or clubs opening anytime soon. They'll be the spark that starts the fire. I'm almost of the belief most countries can keep a lid on covid outbreaks simpkt by maintaining closure of pubs and clubs. Almost all major outbreaks across the world recently have been linked to clubs and pubs ..100 new cases in Prague last week linked to a nightclub ,South Korea still battling an epidemic started by a massive transmission event at a nightclub district, open clubs and pubs and you're asking for community transmission.

I'm not sure, there's some available, but they can only process 4 tests at a time. So each machine 16 an hour.
There was other rapid tests being developed and would be talked about, but they just seemed to have fizzled away.

Pubs can operate as restaurants (Table service, 1h45 time limit, 2 meters distance between tables...) so therefore I don't understand why they can't open. Clubs can't open that's a certainty.

Wait in our caves to die off as a species waiting for a vaccine which may never ever happen :pac:

    With apologies to Kenny Rogers

You picked a fine time to leave us vaccine
    With a virus still raging you acted so mean;
    The cases we're counting
    The death toll is mounting
    It's really a desperate scene-
You picked a fine time to leave us vaccine.

What's to argue where did I say personal attack, i didn't, but you cannot accept that.
I'll make a suggestion you go to the pub as you said you would and I'll go my way.
