I heard of a cluster in Ballinasloe, Galway yesterday and it is not pub related

Source: have a friend in the town

Wonder if any link to the Clare cluster which is also rumoured to be a funeral

    On their Facebook page.

Thank you all so much for your kind words and support.

As you all know, I am taking a precautionary yet proactive approach by voluntarily closing my business, getting all my team tested as well as continuously adhering to all the relevant HSE guidelines.

I would like to reassure all of our customers that there was no opportunity for the case concerned to have an interface with any member of the public.

I will keep you all informed as to our reopening. We all look forward to welcoming you back to Sheridan’s again.

    Regards,
    Cathal.

How could Cathal possibly know that?

Contact details from people also helpful. Lots of tinfoil hat wearers refused to download the App.

I hope people give their correct contact details as it is in their own interests for tracing also

Milltown is not in the city though, so no connection to the Galway Races.

The paper says place was very busy with customers watching the races

Citizen has given heaps of information to this thread and pretty much all is unbiased and just fact telling

I'd trust his reports over any journo or self proclaimed expert that gets to fill our media day in day out

The numbers are only going one way and that's - up.

We are at a very delicate point and some people are very complacent and forgetting about social distancing.

Tom Sheridans ?? Thats still open.

Unless there's another Sheridans that I can't think of

I think there's a Sheridans in Clarinbridge too.

    I'm sure he is.

That still doesn't explain his claim.

Because it could be a role that doesn't involve dealing with the public at all. And he'd know what the role entails. He's not saying there is no chance it couldn't have spread beyond this person. Just that there wasn't someone in a public facing role going table to table spreading it. That's what I take from it.

There's many possible explanations. Family member of a worker, non-public facing employee, a supplier who visited, etc.

Numbers going up was always going to happen as society reopens it's how we manage them is the important thing.
I keep hearing this that people are not following the guidelines, I must live and work in the only part of the country where the majority do follow the guidelines.

I'm confused. The races started on Monday the 27 of July. Facebook post from the pub owner on Friday about closing as a precaution.

4 days seems like a very short time for symptoms to show up, get tested and results back to decide on closing their pub.

I believe he is on Facebook , maybe send him a message with your query instead. Just a suggestion.

There's no link between the races and this pub, it was a suggestion by the poster, it's not a fact.

That could just mean there were 50 people in there sitting at seperate tables 2m apart, doesn't necessarily insinuate a crowd

13 people test positive after visiting a bar in Scotland. Terrible.

Yeah Sheridans is 25 miles from Galway city.

The races were behind closed doors etc., with viewings on screens in many food pubs all over Ireland

13 people test positive after visiting a bar in Scotland. Terrible.
Officials seem to think it was a freak incident and nothing to do with the bar owner's measures.

Health officials in Grampian said physical distancing measures were in place at the bar and contact tracing was being carried out to trace those linked with the cluster.
Scotland's national clinical director, Prof Jason Leitch said: "We've sent people to have a look, and everything was in place that we have written down that should be in place.
"Same with the pharmacy earlier on in the week in Port Glasgow - very well managed, no blame.

I wouldnt believe a thing from the Sunday World. The only thing they are good at is sensationalising rubbish.
