Pubs up north all open, why not down here?

After these numbers most bar owners will be bawling into their lonely pints tonight

40 cases at a factory shows how easily it spread in indoor settings.

Perhaps a mandatory 2 month shutdown of a factory where a large number of infections are discovered would focus the minds of the owners to maintain a safe workplace for their workers.

Schools may open but no chance they'll stay open over the winter

Still only July looking like this winter is going to awful

It could be that the same people are living with each other at close quarters. The factory itself may not be so much an issue.

No cases associated with house parties in the last week.

A fairly serious outbreak too, with work measures such as temperature checking etc you'd question how such an outbreak occurred in the first place.

Up to 40 cases from staff alone since last week then you've the contacts and direct provision centers on top of them.

All credit to the HSE, some serious ground work being undertaken by the sound of it

Half of the cases were asymptomatic yesterday.Temperature checking will just mitigate risk not eliminate it

The factory is not the only cluster that has been reported.

That's why I said there's 26 in 2 clusters, and 40 in total in one of them... ;)

Which is where I pointed out your assertion didn't add up.

Kildare has now overtaken Cork as the second highest number of cases. Cork has had less than 5 cases in the past week, Kildare has had almost 50.

Really? Are you some sort of soothsayer? If not , you know squat about what will happen over the next few months.

Brushed it off by saying no decision made yet

If today shows one thing it's that some factory owners are still clearly not taking enough precautions.

I think they should be telling people where outbreaks and cases are occurring down town or locality.

It would help people in those areas to really ramp up their caution. Because people are getting lax.

they want people to be careful everywhere

Dr. Glynn suggesting he is still in favour of schools opening next month.

Are they providing isolation facilities to the factory workers so they don't infect their household?

Should you not be asking the press conference that, maybe you should be a journalist. :)

There's only 26 cases in Kildare of the 85 though, in two clusters. One of them (factory) has ~ 40 cases in total. What you're saying doesn't add up.

Not all are reported as Kildare but multiple cases traced to the factory.

At least 2 direct provision centres in the Midlands for example linked to the kildare factory.

At least 40 staff so far positive so you can see how the likes of a direct provision Centre could be ravaged by this sort of outbreak when there's at least 2 involved

Did the journalists do some kind of a draw a few months ago as to the order they would ask questions in? Zara always seems first, George always towards the end.

I'm surprised nobody has heard about the Kildare outbreak before today. Nobody leaked it at all.

You'd question the work practices of the factory for this outbreak to occur.

Pubs are already open as restaurants, only difference would be no food.

Still been happening for around a week. Factory closed last Friday, outbreak team was in place before that and still nobody reported it.
