I have just lost a big post with of my last 3 weeks running but haven't the time or inclination to start again,

    So in a nut shell.

Training will continue as long as possible

Week 3/9 of Conn training 2nd - 8th March - this was week of Meath Spring Half in Bohermeen.

Total of 25.9 miles for the week

Week 4/9 of Conn training - 9th - 15th March Blisters obtained during the Half, a sick child and feeling not great myself lead to a low mileage week - 1 x 5m treadmill run and 2 short walks with child to get air.
    Total 8.3m

Conn cancelled along with every other race for the foreseeable

    Week 1/ Berlin (fingers crossed ) training 16 - 22 March
Mayhem has broken out and suddenly work is mental, trying to obtain equipment to allow people to work remotely. The days are long and busy. thankfully I'm not on the frontline and am keeping a close eye on the asthmatic kids x 2

Got home too exhausted to face the treadmill Wed, Thursday or Friday, but the week is salvaged by one 5m run on St Patricks Day and an easy Session on Saturday and a solo 10m Easy run to celebrate Mothers Day on Sunday. Sanity has been restored :)
    Total for the week 21.1m

Going forward it will be whenever I can but after today hopefully working from home a bit more so should be able to get out.

Stay safe everyone, run when you can but run responsibility.

    March 23 - March 29

    Monday 23rd - Rest

Tuesday 24th - Long days in work and iddnt get out later. no energy for the threadmill

    Wednesday 25th - - 50 mins easy
I was working from home so when I was finished I headed down the main road thinking it would be quieter than normal, but alas it was still very busy:eek:

    10.31, 10.19, 10.21, 10.26, 10.24
    Total 5.05m in 52.34m @ 10.24

    Thursday 26th - 50 min Easy
Laura wanted to come for a few KM and ended up doing 5. The First mile was faster than i'd normally run on the route but then she slowed down as the hills took effect. Dropped her home and then did a mile out and then back.

Our route was very busy, people driving and parking up, to walk out normally quite country route. We met 11 walkers and had a brief chat with a few of them.
    10.24, 11.05, 11.05, 10.26, 10,24
    Total 5.10 in 54.28 @ 10.40 - The actually time out was 1hr 2 mins :D

    Friday 27th - Rest

    Saturday 28th - Session Saturday

With new rules in place for curtailment of movement, i ran with Laura for 4 km and planned on heading back out for the same again. However with chatting(via Social distancing) to the neighbours, the 28 mins running actually took 1.20 mins and then I was so cold that i had to head straight for the shower.
Road was much quieter with people obeying the 2km radius, so we only met 3 walkers and chatted at the gates of 3 neighboring houses
    10.31, 11.08, 11.00

    Total 2.54m in 27.34 @ 10.51

Sunday 29th - Long Run (Or not)
So headed out no treally sure what to do. The brief part of the guidlines had me unsure of how far to run and after 1 mile i decided i would do Saturdays missed Session.
    Ware-up, progression of 4 x 5 mins @ 9.50, 9.40, 9.30, 9.20, 4 mins easy 4 x (60 sec hard, 60sec easy) cd.

After my mile warm up i headed in to the first 5 mins but i had the big hill to contend with so i didn't quite hit the target. So I decided to ease back off and at half a mile, start again. However the first 5 mins was then too fast so i decided to keep going and make it 2 x 1 mile progression instead of 4 x 5 mins.
4 x 60 sec were tough enough as I've no speed in me at all these days
I finished off at 6m in 1 hr.

Going forward for the next few weeks and as long as we are not locked down any more , I wont run over an hour.

    progression miles 9.35, 9.08.
    4 x 60 - 7.25, 7.39, 7.31, 8.05
    Total 6.06 m in 1.01 @ 10.04

    Total for the week 18.7m

I am thinking the same Ann I am just going to stick with 30 to 35 mins with in the 2k radius of home when I went out yesterday it was busy enough on some roads one woman walked in on top of me and her dog poked me on my backside I had stepped off the path on to the grass to fix my HR strap  scared the crap out of me it took all I had no to scream ''2 meters, 2 meters'' :D but I am to close to town and it is just to busy to be out any longer than that until things get better:)

I’m in the country but still feel 60 ish mins is enough. I usually don’t meet anyone on my road but everyone needs to get out of the house.

That is it if I was more rural then I would feel the same. I am close to quiet country roads but then I am going over the 2k radius. but it is not for ever so I do not mind :)

seriously wishing I was out further in the country side or back home in my dad's I would be sorted then LOL

I usually don't meet another person bar an odd time. Yesterday I met 8 walkers within 1 mile. (13 one evening before they put in the 2km radius), must try go a bit earlier in the day:D

    March 30 - April 5th

    Monday 30th March - rest

    Tuesday 31st March - 45 min Easy
Kept this easy as my back is stiff and tired. I'm assuming its from working at the kitchen table. Its higher that my office desk so need to be more aware of my sitting position. Eldest Daughter is using the office and she has 5-6 hours of schoolwork to do every day. Also I'm "homeschooling" the youngest so its easier to stay in the kitchen

2m Walk with the youngest in the afternoon

    Run: 4.30m in 45.10 @ 10.30

    Wednesday April 1st - Session
    W-up, 3 x (5 x 30 on/30 off,) 3 mins between sets, cd

Trying to keep this close enough to an hour i did 1.5 m warm up and cool down either side of the reps.

I hadn't set the session up on the watch and i seemed to have done 6 in the second set.
The paces were all over the place as I ran back and forth between 2 bridges.

    Total 5.60 in 59.28 @ 10.36

Later I did an easy starting off set of Strength & Condition exercises x 3 along with some rehab exercises x 1 I was given to do on my last visit.

Day 1 of Kinetic Revolution Challenge also completed.

Thursday 2nd April - Easy run
Body was feeling the S&C so kept this extra slow but things eased out as i ran

    3.23m in 35.00 @ 10.49

Later I did a few Pilates stretches to ease out the body and Day 2 of Kinetic Revolution Challenge

Friday 3rd April - Rest day - but did an easy 5k
Beautiful evening out so headed off with 2 of the youngsters but I was still a bit stiff so was going very handy but I was too slow for the younglad so he headed off himself. We meet him on his way back before we had reached 1 m. Laura had a stitch so we kept it very slow.

After running up the big hill, Laura decided she wanted to go home and the novelty was to go on her own. She turned at the top of the hill @ 1.2 m and headed home. I continued on and the body settled and i enjoyed the run home.
    3.21m in 33.56 @ 10.34

Followed up later with Day 3 of Kinetic Revolution Challenge and a few stretches to ease the body.

Saturday 4th April - Rest Day
No Run, Day 4 of Kinetic Revolution Challenge and some foam rolling.

    Sunday 5th April - Session
W-up, 7 x 3 mins @ 9.30 off 30 sec, CD. - Saturdays session with an extended cooldown to make it a bit longer. I went over the hour I've assigned myself but feel its ok maybe once a week to do this.

While we can run outside maybe i should be taking better advantage, but still erring on the side of caution. Still sticking to my 2 km Radius.

I found it hard to settle into the pace as i was turning in the middle of the run as I didn't want to stray outside the 2km radius and i was a the edge of it, going back & Forth.
I set the watch up so there was not extre reps today:D
    9.23, 9.36, 9.22, 9.23, 9.27, 9.25, 9.27

    Total 7.25m in 1.13 @ 10.11

Day 5 of Kinetic Revolution in the evening and some foam rolling.

    Total for the week 23.6

BTW - Today Monday 6th April I start my new Healthy eating and cutting the crap eating and drinking that's been going on for the past few weeks since Paddy's Day.

I'm now at the heaviest I'm accepting for health and running purposes and need a good kick up the arse.

Time to Man up and face the facts.

Today's weight 1*4.8 lbs - too embarrassed :o to fill in the missing digit(for now)

It's so hard though isn't it? You get up from your desk to get a cuppa which requires about 5 steps instead of the usual several hundred and then you have to eat something with the tea! I'm switching to eating my dinner at lunchtime from tomorrow in the hope that will help...I've also stopped buying rubbish and started baking somewhat healthier snacks.

We can break the cycle!! #coronastone

We can break the cycle!! #coronastone

Love this. I'll go for one stone at a time :)

Yes its difficult but at the end of the day we can only do it for ourselves. I was already struggling with weight gained from over the past year and had started to take control but lost sight again and have put back on 7 lbs id lost.

but its finally clicked that i cant keep going like this and the reason i put it here in my log is to make me more accountable and aware that i need to follow through.

Thankfully I had a good day yesterday and I was just more mindful of my water and fruit intake. No rubbish and more movement.

Good luck to you on this journey too.:D

I hear ya on the eating front - also working from kitchen ( swapping on and off with hubby who’s upstairs). Sore back and constant tea and snacks !

Trying also this week to put a lid on it ! Best of luck to you and all of us kitchen workers !

Week 6th April - 12th Apri - still have 2 km restriction for Exercise.

    Monday 6th - 45 mins Walk
Start of cut the crap and get a grip.
Beautiful day. Walk with OH Dec & youngest child Laura
    45 mins - 2.55m

    Tuesday 7th - Easy Run
Another Stunning day chats along the way
    5.03m @ 10.34 in 53.14

Later Walk with the 3 kids - 2.19m
S&C workout later with day 7 - Kinetic Revolution Challenge

Wednesday 8th - Walk with OH & Laura

    Walk 2.65m another beautiful day

Thursday 9th - Lunch Walk with Laura
    3.40 m in 1 hr

    Friday 10th - Workout
    WU, 10 x 45 sec on/60 Sec off, cd

Flies & Midgets annoyed me during this run. This felt much more controlled and better than last weeks set. Up and back on a decent piece of roadways.
    7.37, 7.46, 7.35, 7.37, 7.26, 7.32, 7.40, 7.45, 7.25, 7.36

    Total 6.15m in 1.05

    Later - S&C & Day 8 of Kinetic Revolution (missed 2 days)

Saturday 11th - Lunch Walk with OH & Laura
Beautiful sunny day with some heat in the sun.
    2.57 m

    Later Easy Run - 6.67m in 1.10

    Easter Sunday 12th Workout
    WU, 4 x 5 mins @ 9.30, 5 mins Easy, cd

3rd set I felt my back was very sore on the lower par of it and this didn't get better for the rest of the run. Can't blame the sitting position as it was Thursday when i was last "in the Office". So I'm assuming its the Hip Thrusters in the Kinetic Revolution challenge. I've decided to leave it until i work on the core & strengthen the back a bit more.

    4 x 5 mins - 9.22, 9.16, 9.19, 9.17
    Total 8.21m in 1.23

Post run stretch & Pilates to ease the back.

I'm having some tightness in my left calf. Don't notice it walking but can feel it running. I've been foam rolling it but its still slightly noticeable so will keep an eye on it. At least another 3 weeks before i can get a rub out.

Very Happy with my week overall. All walks & Runs within the 2km Radius.
    Walked - 13.36m in 5 walks
    Ran - 26.71m in 4 Runs
    3 Workouts

Cut the crap and lost 5lbs. Happy Days.:D Delighted with my self.

More of the same in the week to come, PG.

Have you tried rolling it over a smaller object such as a tennis ball or even better a sliotar if you have one in the house? I find the foam roller does nothing for my calves, i need to get in with something more torturous :D

Well done on the 5lbs, it's not easy to lose.

I actually find the foam roller is good enough for me. I cross the legs and this gives added pressure on the bottom leg and its about all I can tolerate at the moment.

    13th - 19th April

    Easter B/H Monday - 13th April - Walk
Morning walk with Laura. The sun was shining but there was a nip in the air.
Was half thinking of a run later but had a glass of wine with dinner instead:D
    3.3 mile in 1 hour

    Tuesday 14th - Walk

Laura wanted to go walking again so took a break from the laptop & Kitchen chair and headed off. Another beautiful sunny day with some heat in the sun.

All was good until we met the farmer moving his cattle and Laura is not impressed by cows. We made it to the gate way of The Mill holiday homes just before they passed us by. The Farmer had a pug, a terrier and 2 sheep dogs working with him and 2 kids :D
    3.35m in 1 hr

I didn't get out for my run in the evening, despite having every intention of doing so, but ended up working later than planned.

Wednesday: Walk, Easy Run, S&C and Yoga

AM: Lovely walk with Laura & Dec again in beautiful sunshine
    2.8m in 52.30

PM: Beautiful evening for a lovely easy run. Road was was very busy this evening. Dec and Laura came for a bit on the bikes but headed for home before the "big" hills
    6.36m in 1.07

After the run I did my 3 rounds of S&C -
    squats x 10
    Lunges x 5 (each leg)
    Burpee** x 10
step ups x 5 (each leg)
    Jump Squat x 5

**swapping out the burpees for Squat Thrusts. I'll eventually have the mobility to get up from the floor without having to roll on to my knees  but its not there yet.

20 mins beginners Yoga with Adrienne afterwards which I really enjoyed and could feel the benefit straight away.

    Thursday 16th - Walk/Pilates/Run
AM: a bit cooler this morning but sun was shining so what's not to love. With Dec & Laura again and let Laura closer to the river today.:D

    PM: Pilates
Decided to try the Pilates class on Zoom and turned out my daughter was doing the same one with the football club. Really enjoyed it but its reminded me how difficult I find Pilates.
It was Niamhs first time doing Pilates and she didn't like it. Turns out she inherited her mothers lack of flexibility and a previous football concussion injury has left her with weak neck & shoulder.
Turns out I was feeling a bit sick and very hungry after the class so had my dinner and left the run until later and did it on the Treadmill.

    Easy run - 5.07m in 53.26 @ 10.32

    Friday 17th - Lunch Walk
In work today and despite packing the running bag last night, its sitting at home, so I went for a walk for lunch and took the long way round.

The park is hot & sunny with plenty of people walking, running and a few on bikes. Very little traffic, as there are checkpoints at both main gates & all the rest are locked.
Enjoyed it but I was fairly sweating in my jeans when I got back to the office.

Lovely to spot and have a brief chat with Mbarr from these parts.

    2.72 m in 48 m

Pilates makes me sick too, I really dislike it. Similar issue with my neck which i think is what causes the nausea.

Well done on the variety and the 5lbs!

I havent been on Boards much over the past couple of months. I must do an update later in the week when i get a minute. Working, homeschooling, running and a college course has me left with very little time for anything else. Dreading the return of the kids activities as then the evenings will be gone again.

But meanwhile I'm ticking along nicely getting the runs in and back at outdoor Pilates classes. I did a month of daily yoga and can feel the benefit from it. Must get back to doing it too.

I have 12 lb off in the last 5 week and I am in the zone so hopefully I can continue as there's about another 21 to go:eek::eek:

I'm in two minds about the activities, certainly not looking forward to rushing around again but i was using that activity time to run guilt free (unless i'm involved somehow which is the case some evenings of course). I'd finally gotten to the stage where i could drop all 3 to certain activities, do a run and be back to pick them up. I don't know about yours by my eldest is moping around here all day dying for me to finish work so i can entertain him (he doesn't really get that that's why i produced 2 more after him) and i don't have the heart to tell him i'm going running :(

Anyhow, neither here nor there... whoop whoop for the 12lb loss, that's super! You are in the zone :)

So what's the jazz with the outdoor Pilates? Is this a new trend seems to be popping up everywhere - is it a specific online class folks are doing? I'd love to know more :)

My issue is doing the girls football training every week and then arranging the games, trying to get a pitch (girls come last in the pecking order), trying to get the other team to agree to the day, having a team ourselves and trying to get a referee. For LGFA we have to arrange it all ourselves where for the GAA they just tell them when and where they are playing and who is refereeing.

That's just the youngest GAA, the other 2 play GAA too and both are amalgamated so not on home pitches for training and then there's soccer for 2 of them too. I do try get a run in when they are training for these so not so bad!!

My eldest is back working and so lucky to have her job, she's working 3 days a week in Ardee in a lovley Home & Garden store, the young lad is spending his days playing basketball or play station and the youngest is constantly looking for attention as she has no-one to play with and we have no-one living near us her age group!!

I'm back at the Pilates since the 5k restriction was removed and currently my evening are free . The outdoor Pilates is just our indoor class that is outdoor as shes not allowed back inside yet.
She can have 15 people outside but she keeps it lower and there was 6 on Monday, but she has plenty of classes with 4 classes on Mon & Wed evenings and 2 in the mornings. If its raining she cancels or does not do Pilates just HIIT and Zumba as she keeps everyone moving. I'm working up to do the HIIT but wont do Zumba as heard of too many with knee problems from it:eek:

The weighloss thankfully is going well and seeing the difference in the clothes keeps me motivated. I'm eating healthy and im sleeping great. I only have an odd drink on one night which was my main downfall, as when I have a drink, I'll eat everything insight :eek:

So i can give The Bitter Lemon a run for his money on the injury front.:eek:

So after the last post i had an issue with a quad strain from a yoga move that left me limping 4 weeks earlier and i was running on it.

Got that sorted with a couple of physio sessions and taping but she also confirmed Plantar fasciitis in my right foot, Last year it was in my left foot so its not recurring, just moved to the other foot. Thankfully i kinda knew this is what it was so i was doing the exercises and icing etc.

A few days away in Westport and i did plenty of walking and a few short runs, but when i got home & back to work and sitting the foot wasn't long getting very sore again. A session with needles and it was great again, for a few days.

Another short break away saw plenty of walking and a run on the beach left me right back to square one!!!:eek: but it eased out lovely over the weekend

Back for another session today and there's a big improvement in it so nearly there with it. However my right hamstring is not happy, i could feel it lying in bed and when driving and yes sure enough its very ropey so more taping and a few easy days should help it out, along with exercises and self massage.
Back in 10 days, hoping ofr a clean bill of health.

I really could do with an upgrade or even a new body :rolleyes: otherwise i might have to retire as its one thing after another.

18lbs lost in the battle of the bulge, but there's an issue of 2 or 3 lbs back on from the trip to Killarney so need to get back at it.

My lift is still crazy mad with the sports all back on, a promotion in work has doubled my work load and the football now has a lot more to it than just turning up to training or a match. I might get back to regular posting by Winter.

I'm still walking and running plenty and I'm doing the Virtual Wild Atlantic Way 500km Challenge. We are in week 9 and I have 408.93 kms completed and will finish it by the end of week 10. a lot slower than originally planned but it is what it is. We have 3 months to complete it (June - Aug)

Laura, my 11 yr old is doing the 100km Bumbleance Challenge and has 12 km left to complete it, she started in June, but has done 170KM since Lockdown started. I'm very proud of her.:):)

Congrats on the promotion A and wow well done on the weight loss, 18lbs is amazing! Sorry to hear about your injury woes, you've had a sh*tty ole time of it. Hopefully it all settles again very quickly with the treatment.

Congrats on the job news and the pound-shedding, A. Westport seems to be very vogueish this year too. ;) I had a bit of a yoga injury/niggle myself a while back and I've jettisoned the yoga ambitions at least until after the marathon block. Too bad about the foot - keep up the good work though!

Congratulations on the promotion Anne (not on twice the workload though  ). Well done on the weight too, no mean feet! Fingers crossed you resolve the ongoing injuries soon.

I think a back injury (even an old one) can cause lots of additional injuries/niggles as the body will compromise proper movement to protect the back

Have you had a functional movement assessment?

I had one recently and it was very revealing

Well done to Laura. Following in her mums footsteps!

Sorry to hear about the injury woes. Have been following you on strava so knew the story. Hard to give you any productive advice. You've been very patient with the original injury. Fair play to you. I'd have probably given up long ago so kudos.
