Pessimist in me thinks they’ll find nothing relating to her disappearance. But on the other hand they must have significant info to send out 100+ officers and start digging.

Why did he stop pursuing an early release? Weird.

Possibly knowing he’d be hunted from pillar to post if he was released now, gives him the time to put into the case of the rape of the older woman.

I just think transporting a child, dead or alive, would have been a huge risk to take for that length of journey.

A convicted rapist, burglar, and drug smuggler is someone who’s clearly comfortable taking risks, probably gets off on it

If Madeline’s body is found tonight or tomorrow at this site in Braunschweig... that’s just under 3000 kms away from where she disappeared. You’d drive through 4 countries and would take you according to google maps, 1 day and 3 hours driving, obviously more including rest stops. The distance, numerous countries and borders you’d need to cross into, just doesn’t seem possible. I know all intra EU but still...

Maybe they're hoping to find more hard drives / electronics / videos / photos / whatever. It's hard to imagine someone driving that distance, and taking a good few rest stops along the way, with a missing girl in the boot, he definitely wouldn't want to be speeding

Whole shipping containers of people have crossed various EU borders over the years, sometimes with longer distances and more complex issues at play. People have stowed away in cargo holds and suitcases on planes and not been detected.
I don't think its completely out of the question, in fact, based on travelling a bit within Europe, I'd say its totally feasible.

Whether it actually happened or not in this case is another question.

    That’s true.

If so, would this raise even the most remote possibility that she is indeed still alive?

I always believed it was sn abduction and immediate murder, but the new dig is intriguing.

Again, there are no borders. Speed limits on Continental motorways are between 110 - 130km/h, with parts of the autobahn having no speed limit, so 2800km with an average speed of 110km/h that journey can be done in 25 hours.

On the news it reported that he used to flit between Germany and Portugal regularly and so would know the route.

10 hours after the abduction he could be 1000 km away while they were still searching for her in the local vicinity.

Also, if he had an accomplice, they could have driven non-stop for the 25 hours, sharing the driving and be 'home' in just over a day. It's assumed he was working alone, but the lone wolf type predator, doesn't usually tend to have 30 minute long phonecalls.

they've found an underground cellar at the site under where there used to be a gazebo, talk about perfect place to stash someone.

His talk of having a small thing for a few days and having his own underground cellar I think I recall in a report might be coming true after all. This is all becoming frighteningly realistic unfortunately. The broken down gazebo looks like nothing but a great place to hide what lies beneath.

If (and a big if) he is just a patsy they couldn't have found a more suited person who has means and motive along with a history

What’s a “patsy” ? I’d say this guy is a suspect for so many cases. A thought just occurred are The German police using the Madeleine case to get more funding and using it for their own cases to search places that wouldn’t of been given funding for in the past? This came to my mind when they started talking about other missing “German” kids.

Body could have been in the boot and like you say intra Europe very little checks.

A patsy is basically a fall guy or scapegoat like exactly what you said being used by police to get funding for other cases.

But the fact he was in PDL at the time and has history of crimes with young girls and vulnerable women is a pretty good reason to investigate him in madeleine case

Your looking at it as a logical person , You have to remember the person who took her would be a sick bastard his logic would not be like your own ,

Iv'e read there are pedos who sell kids on to others and this continues for years in some cases but given the media coverage of this case from the get go i'd be thinking there isn't a snowballs chance in hell she's still alive or was alive more than a couple of hrs.

You shouldn't assume that all murderers and child abusers are illogical and/or stupid. There have been plenty of people throughout history who have been both intelligent and committed horrible acts on others.

True. Some serial killers have been proven to have incredibly high IQ's.

Absolutely, many serial killers in the past were actually logical to the extreme.

The report of the cellar on the site has only been reported by the Daily Mail. Sky News have not mentioned it yet. As with anything by the Daily Mail, I'll be waiting for a second source.

I think they definitely linked him to the Madeline case and he fits the bill but this can help with cases of other missing kids that this savage is linked to, they only know him as a peado and rapists at this time but one Murder could open a treasure chest of a serial killer. They didn’t want to speculate on that when asked.

Express reporting that officers are fighting back tears searching the site. devastating stuff.

As awful as this may sound , I honestly hope she wasn't alive longer than a few hours , if CB took her.
To think she may have being alive and passed around from one evil person to another , is unbearable imo .

I read a great report on it all this morning but can’t find it since... thought it had been sky news!? Article changed since . I read there was a tunnel there ... so there’s some underground location there...

    This.

I wished people would consider what a 3 year old little girl might have gone through before sharing stupid and disgusting social media jokes on the subject which are cropping up again as the case is back in the media.

We've had ominous looking situations before, but nothing is ever concrete ......

No definitive proof of anything yet ...

That can be a number of reasons, if he did have a little hideaway dug under the house you can only imagine what’s been seen there. You wonder how’s he’s got all this stuff to make this place and nobody thought it strange unless they are common place to be done as underground cellars usually for stocking food, drinks and the like. It’s harrowing for the ppl doing this work, just because they are police officers or investigators ppl tend to forget they are human too and have families.

Basements are very common on the continent.
