Absolute madness that looks like.

I see no ****ing difference in that and having a plate of food in front of you with a pint.

It wouldn't be for me that sort of setup but fair play, looks very responsible. It is probably costing him alot to open under those restrictions so he's not been greedy or lining his pockets. I'd imagine any publican will incur significant losses this year and would be doing amazing to break even

Constantly pushing. Its nothing to do with Covid. Zip.

Yeah all this is been done so you cant go to the pub and have a pint

    I want to go to GAA matches but I understand i can't and why i can't .

It's not because the Government want to stop all GAA believe it or not

any pubs in dublin not enforcing this silly rule of food ?

Most aren't. You just sit with the menu for two hours while you sup pints and 'decide' what you want to eat.

I suppose he got his free publicity, which was his aim anyway. He knew he’d be closed down.

MUP was always ridiculous, but now even more so. The country is screwed, needs every scrap of revenue it can get, but this ludicrous MUP plan pisses away literally billions in potential tax revenue.

If a can goes from 1euro to 2 euro if it was an excise hike it would be 1euro to the government, instead they get a mere 19cent (the vat on the 1euro) and the retailer gets 81cent.

An increase in excise would hit all people and they would surely want to "help" more people right?

Many people presume it is a full on tax, and the pro campaigners keep very quiet about the fact the vast bulk of it goes to the sellers. It's understandable that people presume it's a tax, sure it would be mad for it not to be, but that's the plan.

Has Government and Medical Professionals been pushing to eradicate GAA Culture since the nineteen dickety dix? No.

They driving outside of their lane. Using their emergency influence to go after something that they have been gunning for well before this kicked off.

Do people genuinely, 100% believe that there is not a little voice in the back of the heads of the Medical Industry people at NPHET that this is a bit of a golden ticket to go after our drinking culture? That there isn't a little bit of even an unconscious bias to try and change our drinking habits? Come on lads. We all know it. We all have biases.

    You really believe this ?

You don't think it's because it would be a nightmare trying to get people to social distance , to try not behave like kids when they get a few drinks in them, the nightmare of toilets and hygiene

I like a drink as good as anyone but if you seriously think everyone will adhere to guidelines then I think you are mistaken.

So we are in a Pandemic and the Government say "wait, let's make the most of this and stop all the things we dont agree with, like pubs, nightclubs, GAA, and get people to have their holidays in Ireland instead of spending in Spain, Portugal ets " Seriously !!

The government would have preferred to keep the pubs that serve food closed along with the pubs that don't serve food.

But the food thing means that the pubs that serve food get to be classed as restaurants so they had no choice other than to include them when they allowed restaurants to open.

I know this upsets many people when I say this but when alcohol is involved, social distancing almost always goes out the window.

By the way, those screens in that pub in the clip a few posts earlier are way too low to be worth a stocking of sh1te.

The medical establishment, specifically the college of physicians have been pushing hard for MUP for several years now

Not always, I'd say the majority of people can enjoy a few pints without slobbering all over each other. Like most things they wont open because the minority will ruin it.

I was out for a meal in local gastro pub on Saturday night, in a half 7 home at 11. All table service, no one moved on by staff unless table was booked for another meal. With table service and social distancing I found it a safe and enjoyable night. Fortunately no slobbering fools in sight looking to go around and hug the whole bar.

He shouldn't of plastered it over social media, the local lawmen would of turned a blind eye possibly, but he gave himself no chance with the publicity he built. Unless of course thats what he wanted?

If they dont want to open the pubs... could they not just open the beer gardens?

Sorry if this question has already been posted. I didnt read the whole thread.

So six months ago you could wake up in Amsterdam, go to a cafe, have a joint and fly home to Dublin but cant do the same in Dublin?

Different places have different rules, that is nothing new

It was obviously a publicity stunt. The whole "I'm taking a stand against an unjust law" thing went straight out of the window as soon as law enforcement told him he was in violation of the law  Wasn't exactly a Tiananmen Square protester was he?

Your condescending and leading comment reminds me of an elephant trying to hide in a tree.
Dun Laoghaoire must be missing the civic amenities.

I am parked near a known 'rought' pub it dose not do food its open,, two aul lads smoking outside another aul lad going in. There is a large Garda station near by they must know. Unless the place is doing them 9 euro bowels of stew as way to get around the regulations.

No way but its very unfair on pubs that are stricken to the regulations.

But, you do not know that they are not inline with the regulations. For all you know without going in, they could have a full menu, and if they did, then there is nothing unfair about that.
