Should be a rule that no-one is allowed to talk about rain until it's actually raining.

Verstappen doing very well to keep Bottas at bay.

If Hamilton pits it could be game on

But Bottas is eating .8 s per lap out of Max. Good finale to come...

    I don’t agree.
The only hope we have for something interesting happening is a safety car.

Leclerc just been lapped by Bottas. Crazy.

But Bottas' gains on Verstappen have stopped now. Been 9.5-10 seconds for several laps now. Don't think he's going to catch him.

Now hoping for Merc to fcuk up Lewis' stop and let him lose 1st...

It just shows bottas' level now, in the same car that has lapped almost every other car, on fresh tyres, was given plenty of laps and still can't catch max, pretty crap, hard to defend that even with getting a podium.

And just as we said there was no hope the gap is now down to almost 5 seconds.

Sounds like max got caught in traffic more than bottas putting in the laps

    Edit,
He is trying now hopefully not too late

That's an unbelievable statistic, Hamilton has lead more laps at the Hungaroring than the rest of the grid combined

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

Wow, last lap and Bottas almost has Verstappen on DRS.

Mechanics of the day go to Verstappens. The other Red Bull ones might be getting the hairdryer tratement if Albon gets badly punished himself.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Gaoth Laidir

Well done Max and Alex on making up those places. It didn't look likely for Max before the start.

Meanwhile that insufferable twat Lewis has another win. Can't deny his talent but by God is he detestable.

Cant stand Hamilton but what a talent.
Would love to see max in an equal car race him.

    Good drive from Vettel!

Albon likely to be DQ'd due to his teams folly!

Decision of that day was Haas for bringing their drivers in after the formation lap for slick tyres. It made a huge difference to their first part of the race gaining so much time (essentially a free pit stop) when everyone race pitted under race conditions.

The race wasn't great, the Mercedes is just in a different stratosphere to every other car out there. Hamilton executed his race perfectly, Bottas doesn't have it in him to beat Hamilton

F1 is just boring without the rain

    I enjoyed that race.

We all knew Hamilton was going to walk it. Thanks to Redbull for making it a bit more interesting.

Seeing the machanics in the yellow high vis jackets already before the champagne has been sprayed made me remember that all the crews have been on the go for 4 weeks now. (1 week build and 3 races) So enjoy your week off and your short commute to Silverstone.

From a phycological perspective Bottas has lost any hope of beating Hamilton in the championship.
He just got lucky in the first race and he knows it.

What a great F2 race, 5 laps 25 seconds advantage and you knew it would come down to the last lap, and it did, last corner decision.

F1, Max outdriving the car, Hamilton congratulations to his next WDC

Question for the rules experts here:

Should Max have started from the pit lane? I mean they clearly had to make changes to the car between qualifying and the race.

Like for like part replacements to repair genuine accident damage once a car is under parc ferme conditions are allowed. As long as they use the same spec parts it's allowed

He is quick in qualifying and out of traffic but hopeless at overtaking. It seems to take him twice as long to make a pass. Today he even struggled to get by Grosjean and Stroll.

I agree but even still, to give someone a car that is a second a lap faster than every other car, start that car ahead of all the others bar 1, and to give that type of performance and finish 3rd behind a car that all weekend both drivers have been complaining about its drive ability is pretty shameful. Look bottas is a handy no. 2 he will do ok in quali, do enough to secure 1st in the constructors it's perfect for Mercedes, it's all of us that lose out

Renault have lodged another protest after the race against the legality of the RP increasing the pressure on the FIA to make a ruling.

It's idiotic how long they're taking for what is a slam dunk decision according to the rulebook - there are multiple people who saw them, there are TV pictures also, apparently, yet they're still going "maybe, maybe not". The FIA needs a huge amount of cop on with these rules.

Same with the jump starts - Either it's stipulated in the rules that if the driver "stops" it's not a penalty (Bottas today, Vettel Suzuka 2019) - or it's always a penalty. That said, Valterri's little mishap reminded me of a time where ALL drivers would start creeping at the red light, with the excuse that "engaging 1st gear made the car do that!" :D

That's gonna be an headscratcher, because...well, it's slowly coming out that again, the FIA might have checked exactly jack sh1t about the Racing Point. Here's an interesting interview with Nick Tombazis who goes on saying "we didn't think about that", while also admitting that one of the reasons they didn't is that it's something that's difficult to verify.

What other things did they "forget to check" or thought to be "too difficult"? Also, the way he words the "visit" they paid to Racing Point, kinda sounds like an half admission of "we let them show us what they wanted to show us". Great indeed.

(hope it doesn't show a paywall)

Haas under investigation for use of driver aids during the formation lap - seems to be related to the call for the slicks during the formation lap.
