Has anyone got data or study they trust on the estimated % of a country's population that have had it/had it but don't show any symptoms?

I've seen reports since April saying everything from 5% to 50%

There was one preprint study posted here recently from Italy where 70% of under 65s were asymptomatic.

At the moment, but if numbers rise, then that means it's back in the community again. Hospital capacity is surely only a factor in deciding to go through with a lockdown.

The reverse has already happened. The West Cork distillery made a bottle I picked up in Lidl two or three weeks ago.

We have plenty of distilleries now so can use what's there.

In my opinion RTE has been an absolute disgrace during this whole thing. Will never ever trust their journalism ever again.

Media publications have lost money and cut jobs in the last few months. Recessions are not something the media want.

Whether we like it or not the only thing that actually matters in this whole thing is that our hospitals don't get overwhelmed. Overwhelmed hospitals = deaths. If the hospitals stay quiet then those who need urgent COVID care can get it.

As we've low numbers in general hosptial beds relating to covid its probably worth giving the numbers per hosptial. They're available in the report if anyone wants but to save the search.

I'm not sure about print newspaper sales, but website clicks must be through the roof overall for the Daily Mails (yuk), CNNs and more of the world

First thing companies cut in a downturn is the advertising budget. So media sites can get all the hits they like, companies can't afford to advertise because they have less money.

So again, recessions are bad for the media. In fact, the media regularly understate economic woes. Just look at the media's handling of the Celtic Tiger. They ignored all the signs of a recession.

Could be, we never get the deaths in general beds numbers whereas we do in ICU and if I remember right i think that's reported 1 death in the last week or so.

If that's the case then theres reasons why they didn't go to ICU.

Would be something that would add more detail for sure.

I doubt it - we're going to see the occasional case in sports clubs, but I'd prefer to see people outside playing sports than inside doing anything. They'll be mixing with the same group of people either way.

If this had been someone with Covid indoors there would have been a high risk. It'll be interesting to to see if anyone at all tests positive as a consequence of meeting a Covid-infected individual outdoors.

Fair point

Juggernaut websites like Daily Mail will be more than ok though. A quick glance there and it seems to be Google Adsense companies landing on their pages.

They'll probably use the recession as an excuse to lay off staff, outsource more articles to AI and still be up on profits this year
