    Norway, Finland

Didn't do as well as the countries that implemented all 3 measures I outlined.

But sure something tells me you are not for turning so we will live it there.

If the overwhelming scientific evidence won't convince you, I sure as shít have no chance.

How were Denmark not successful if you dont mind me asking?

They've not seen any significant surge at all, social distance reduced, no masks and everything open weeks now

I also loved the conclusion in Boggles linked “scientific study” from the institute of labour “economics”. To paraphrase “use of face masks apparently helped”. Ringing endorsement

    Why all the hostility?

Cliques. Being told 'you must be new here'. Posters requesting threadbans for others. Being told to enjoy little things by posters who haven't left their PC for 3 months:D

    Covid freaks!

I never said they weren't successful.

They were, but it's a hardly a surprise, they are routinely at the top of the charts of the best country in the world to live in.

They closed their borders when we closed our schools, and had a strict and enforced lock down.

They would have done better if they mandated masks though, but they are starting to come around, masks are now mandatory in Airports there.

You didn't actually read it did you?

I'll gladly entertain any study that refutes the scientific based evidence though.

    In your own good time.

My only concern now is out of sight, out of mind.

As we’ve seen. It only takes a one person to trigger an epidemic.

I’m just back from a shopping center, people are generally for the most part doing a very good job from a distancing point of view. Strangely though mask usage was way down... I’d imagine about 15-20% only were wearing a mask... odd.

You come across a bit more unhinged than any of the posters here!

    Get some exercise Pete;)

Did anyone hear any more about this so-called border county cluster? I can't see anything in the figures.

There’s not even a sniff of it in those figures. Was it Wednesday or Thursday they started talking about it?

Sligo seems to have fizzled for now too.

Finland didn’t do better than Czech Republic or Austria who did all you mentioned? One of us is denying facts alright

UK just banned US travel. Now what excuse does Ireland have? Seems we should follow what the UK does.

8000 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. As far as I can see, that's the highest number since April.

    Positivity rate of 0.1%.
If my calculations are right 89 cases from 31,005 tests in the last 7 days?

Look around the world at how prevalent the virus is, only a fool would think we are 20 points up. That leads to complacency and you're back to square 1.

You seem very neurotic. I’ll tell you what find a cave and boulder yourself in with your stash of porn for a 2 year lockdown. If the virus goes down to 1 or 2 cases a day globally or we get a vaccine we’ll let you know it’s safe to come out , how’s that sound?

Of course they did, you are comparing far more densely population countries with Finland who are ranked 172nd in terms of population density in the world.

Anyway I give up, it's like talking to a flat earther.

They haven’t banned US travel at all I don’t think. They have just kept the quarantine for US travellers

    According to our central bank.
Anybody surprised that Irish people managed to deposit 5 billion euros between the months of April and may.
I definitely didn't expect that much to be saved over the lockdown.

It was economists not scientists who released that study. Gave you seen where Czechia and Austria are now?

Most of ye on here must be pensioners or on the dole, is that right?

I was just thinking, now that i'm one of your priviledged group, we must have a 'Covid Free' party in the autumn? Organised by one of the regulars, Stephenmc, Citizen Erased or perhaps Jim Hodge, he seems like a capital fellow:)

Not surprised at all. Mechanisms were put in place very quickly where the government rather then the average joe took the hit financially.

Vast majority of the population of Finland live around the southern coast in a small proportion of the county

your on fire this evening, nope I'm working away and have done throughout this. Thanks for the attempted insult.

Have you nothing better to do this evening?? Take your own advice and go for some exercise.

Anyway I'm off for a walk and maybe a trip to the pub. You've quite clearly nothing to add to any discussion bar attempting to be a wind up merchant. Hopefully your spell here on thread is short lived, I'll see in the morning. Enjoy your night

You can get a test for basically anything now. Residential care testing also restarted.

Good lad Micky. That's telling me. I'd say the cave is your fantasy. I hope you have another half, because one half needs to be the brains of the operation, and it's certainly not you Micky.

Imagine I'm so unpopular here and you couldn't get one thanks? That's how sh*te your posts are.

I'm off now with my thread ban. It's been fun Covid freaks :D

It was a memorial for someone who died a month ago in a small border village. The people/family members who are affected might they live in other countys or over the border and be counted elsewhere?

We have well and truly crushed the curve. Testing increased 3 fold this week and case numbers are this low. Fantastic stuff.

Yeah, a lot of the increased testing probably down to nursing homes. The last time they were being tested, there was an increase in the daily cases, but we all knew it was down to targeted testing in the nursing homes. Thankfully, we’re not seeing such an increase this time around. Great to see!
