Thing is there's no use giving out about, there's a lot of people out there who hate winners so the Patriots are high on their hitlists. They'll say the Patriots deserve every punishment they get and when you give out about it they'll say you are precious or something else.
They don't see what we see which is the Patriots getting to punished for things that every team was at like spygate which many head coaches admitted. And then deflategate where good science proved that the balls were not tampered with, and that's not even going into the stark improvement in performance in the second half of that game when the balls were pumped up.
So we just have to grin and bear it and then smile when it doesn't stop us win yet another Superbowl.

    Everyone hates all winners alright.:

God but Patriots game love a good whinge.

I thought it was the cowboys that were universally despised for moving but they're in the Ha'penny place compared to Patriots

And not as did they don't have a wrap sheet

    Deflategate and spygate.

Other teams learn their lessons obviously the Patriots don't

Never had you down as a hater of success Brinty but obviously I was wrong. Do we need to go through spygate and deflategate and show how ludicrous both were? I can put up links to head coaches saying they were all at the spying thing. I can put up work from completely independent scientists who prove the balls deflated because of the weather. And all you have to do is read that and then look at the numbers for the first half versus the second half to see that it wasn't even helping the Patriots to deflate the balls.
I haven't read up much on this Bengals thing because we know Goodell is going to go after us even if we did nothing wrong. The guy worked with the Jets and is from New York, no surprise to me that he hates the Patriots.

Jets were fined for tampering with Revis when he was with the Pats. Nobody went nuts and created ‘Tampergate’. The Jets sucked, weren’t beating anyone or winning SBs.
Pats should have taken greater care about this one, ensuring anyone doing work for them didn’t break any rules. They didn’t, got fined.
But it’s the usual brigade looking for any opportunity to moan about the Pats. I just laugh at the obsessive nature of it at this stage.

Are you having trouble reading the thread?

All I posted was the punishment and stated how it was smart to leak the news at the same time as Cam. What followed was the usual tidal wave of moans and tin-foil hat conspiracy theories from Patriot fans, no one else.

I've said it before but this is another obvious example of it, I've never seen a team in any sport be as successful as the Patriots and yet have a fanbase with such a victim mentality.

The above just isn't accurate, you're either doing your best to twist it into the best possible light or a misinformed.

There was at least one independent contractor there but there were also Patriot/Kraft staff. One guy who was suspended by the Patriots had worked for Kraft for years and had been promoted during that period.

It was nothing to do with the wrong spot, there is no right spot to film what they did where they were the Bengals gave them access to. It also wasn't like they only filmed a second or two, it a camera was consistently on the Bengals side.

We've no idea what would have happened to those tapes if they weren't stopped. We still don't know what was on the original Spygate tapes as Goodell let the Patriots destroy them.

Not really apples to apples there though is it. Had the Giants been caught doing similar in the past, alongside caught breaking other rules recently under the same HC/GM?

It is like getting annoyed that someone getting convicted for the first time gets a slightly more lenient sentence than a repeat offender.

That website is a pretty decent source of scandals but the pro-Patriots tin-foil hat slant is ridiculous. They have an award for teams where the writer whines that the scandal got less coverage than the Patriots. I can see where the persecution complex comes from if this is the content you're consuming.

We do know what would have happened to the tapes, unless you feel that they are lying about what they were doing. It was a video series, documenting the work of a game scout. They were filming footage to provide context.

Bringing up the Spygate tapes, as though there is some secret nefarious aspect to them, shows a rather disingenuous spirit. There was nothing illegal in the act of filming the other team, the infraction was in the location the filming took place.

I think your dismissal of the Giants getting a lesser punishment for in game cheating versus this situation is pretty ridiculous.

No, but you are read very easily.
I didn’t state any conspiracy, just that the usual brigade (which very much includes yourself) has a Pats obsession.

Maybe you have trouble reading, as you usually do, cause I said the Pats should have been more careful and had to take the punishment. But of course, it’s the typical response you give.... Pats fans, Pats fans, Pats fans. Change the record, it’s boring and predictable.

The pre season has officially reduced from four games to two. I mean that's the HOF game and now two pre season games gone already and it's just July and another two months before the regular season is meant to start. This does seem like cutting as much non essential games and events around the regular season. Cases in the USA aren't going down but spiking. What odds on us having a season at all lads ?

Yeah, only the first cut I’d say.

Don't mind me him, he is a Patriots hater. He has always been, if the Patriots come up he is always against them. I just ignore him all the time.

There's a fair bit of meat left on the bone jack. Btw I presume you had the MLB equivalent on gamepass. Did you get a reduction in price considering the season hasn't started yet ? I think everyone here who has it should turn off auto renew because this may get worse.

I had paid the full $150 for MLB.tv but as soon as it became apparent that the season was going to be delayed I looked for a refund and there was no issue getting one. The full amount was refunded within a few days. No news yet on what they’re going to charge for the 60 game season.

If the Patriots go on to have 30 barren seasons then I'd let them away with becoming a bit paranoid ;)

As to those claiming that I 'hate' their team, that same accusation has been thrown at me here by fans from probably half a dozen NFL teams. You aren't close to as special as you think you are :pac:

You just said there's 6 sets of fans that think you 'hate' their team. Basing off how you much you post in the Patriots thread I'd imagine so it's similar for threads of 5 other teams? Honestly I don't think I've come across anyone here as persistent as yourself.

Off the top of my head, I was accused of it at some point by Patriots, Broncos, Eagles, Bears, Giants, and Chiefs. Definitely missing one or two.

Though the most vocal, you guys really aren't special. I do seem to live in your heads a lot longer than others though.

This must be what it is like for some sports analysts when randomers tweet them after every show telling them how much they hate their team.

I've engaged in the thread for nearly every team here. I enjoy talking about football so I post wherever is active. It would probably help you if you took off the tinfoil hat for a second and look at how active those other threads are. The Patriots one has around twice the post count of any other team and given how inactive this place is for most of the year it is the only team thread that is self-sufficient.

I'd much rather get back to talking football but if you want to continue to try to prove some imagined 'hatred' then fire ahead.

Personally I don’t see any football being played in September. Then it will all depend on how the league decides to move forward with a shorter season or push out the Super Bowl.

    The lifeboat has set sail

I know you like to think of yourself as some sort of unbiased and insightful poster but the reality isn't anywhere near that. Living in my head? No, I just let out a bit of an internal groan everytime I see your posts relating to the Patriots. Always negative, always the controversies, and always the more exaggerated versions of those stories. I suppose you need to find some entertainment in your life.

That this season, with so many interesting story lines, is probably going to be disrupted or cancelled is tragic. I can see them starting the season, but having to suspend it because of outbreaks, which is to me is worse than no season.

When you look at punishments handed out by the NFL, deflategate and the brutal penalties for the Patriots even though science proved the balls would deflate during the game due to the weather. Then you have the Vikings heating balls, which imo is every bit as bad as deflating balls, with no argument to save themselves and the punishment? All teams are warned not to do it.
Spygate, completely ridiculous. The Jets were caught taping in Foxboro the year before, with the same rules in place, but no punishment it was considered ok.
The Patriots have been on top so long that the NFL will do anything to try pull them down but it'll never work as long as Bill Belichick remains as head coach.
We just have to grin and bear these punishments and not get too worried about it.
Having said that, I find it very hard not to respond when somebody brings up Deflategate or Spygate because you really have to be stupid to not understand what is really going on. When you have a bunch of Superbowl winning head coaches telling you that spygate was nothing and independent scientists telling you that the balls deflated without any help in that game and people go on about it being horrendous cheating it's down to stupidity.

With a review ongoing the Redskins seem set to change their name on back of pressure from sponsors.

I like the redtails personally but let's see where they go with it.
