I'm guessing they're still in meetings. Hope they release the modelling in the press release.
TBH that's about the only thing worth reporting, with numbers so low.

If you have COVID they consider you clear after about 14 days. With clusters they wait 2 cycles or 2x14 days since the last case to consider it closed. The care home cluster totals remained high for quite a while then suddenly dropped as they were all about the same time.

    Makes sense now.

    You're right, yesterday!

The US as a whole had their highest ever number of cases yesterday

That’s great news about the mandatory quarantine for worse affected countries. Has to be done.
It does have to be done. I doubt it will be though.
A friend of mine arrived yesterday from the US. He's planning to quarantine anyway, but I would not feel confident that his quarantine will be in any way enforced by the state.

You know quite well the point he was making was that fatalities are overwhelmingly age related.Im also at retirement age and i absolutely believe that a much younger persons life matters a lot more than mine.

You can believe all you like, I have no issue there, but I don't agree. My life matters as much as anybody else's and is as much a functioning and contributing part of society and the community as they.

    8% of total fatalities.

Just curious to know how you know lockdown was ineffective.

Tegnel stated when countries unlock we will see cases rise to what they have in Sweden.Cant lock down forever so I will let you work it out from there.

Apparently there's issues again, just a rumour though I'm not sure if it's true.

Good call! Though given that they had 6100 cases yesterday compared to 4500 cases the on the day a week before that, if that wasn't cause for stopping easing restrictions, then I don't know what is..

What are people's opinions on getting takeaway meals, cakes baked in store etc? Still a slight risk, even if they've been cooked hours ago?

Yeah I remember it was local in January. Luckily it didn't spread. Those doom mongers really don't understand localised outbreaks!

Also travel is no risk at all. Planes have filters.

I've been having takeaways regularly tbh

Cakes once they are in a box/wrapping would be fine I would think

I'm not one that is concerned about the outdoors in all of this but...yikes...a bit seeing the UK beaches below -
we can all complain about Trump/Boris or anyone else and how things were handled, but people have to take some form of responsibility themselves too!

Me too, getting Chinese take aways since March.
I do believe in taking rudimentary precautions, despite having a positive outlook on things related to Covid - so I do:

    1) take food in from delivery guy
    2) open the packages ready to serve
    3) wash my hands, get the plate out
    4) put the food out
    5) wash hands before eating.

Some will probably think this is OTT but getting takeaways is the only event that I engage in where I can't vouch for who has handled things.

In terms of the food itself - I have zero concerns about the hot food itself, but someone mentioned an extra minute in the microwave might assuage any fears there!

I don't usually get take away meals. I'm doing a low carb diet so I'm not eating from bakeries. If I was, I would avoid the open bakeries from shops like with bread rolls out for self service. Same goes for salad bars, I would avoid. I usually avoid them at the best of times anyways.

They make you fat. Obesity isn't good for this. But if you're like Ryan Tubridy, go for it.

The WHO statement today about Europe is really interesting.

They state that cases rose in Luxembourg, Greece, Germany, Slovenia, Switzerland and Malta.
Luxembourg reported 7 cases yesterday, Greece reported 8, Germany reported 400+ due to clusters in meat plants (a sh*tshow that everyone knows about), Slovenia reported 6 today and Malta reported 3 today. The only country I can see with some sort of a growth from that list is Switzerland, who reported 50 cases.

As you note, these aren’t big numbers by any stretch of the imagination. However, I suspect that the WHO would rather be seen as being wrong about warning of a resurgence (if one doesn’t happen) than being late about warning of a resurgence (if one does happen), hence all the headlines today

I feel like the WHO has been trying to cover-up everything it got wrong for the last few weeks tbh
