Amazon Delivery Restrictions to Ireland

Must say Amazon's delivery times to Ireland are a complete joke.

I'm with Prime and I'm waiting at least a week an usually a lot longer.

I got sick of it so yesterday I got onto live chat and they weren't helpful at all.

Then I said "my Prime is up for renewal in July - any chance of a discount?" - not a hope lol.

Seriously it's a disgrace. 2 weeks average shipping time for Prime I'd warrant.

I've just been given a free month of prime....lol Unless I get all the perks (which you don't) I won't be keeping it.

On the other hand I've been using smile.amazon.co.uk where they donate to charity every time you order. Might be my imagination but I think it's slightly quicker, only slightly mind.

They've driven me back to ebay!! Never thought I'd go back there!

Amazon signed off on agreement, licences, contracts and everything else that was required afaik for an Irish fulfillment centre at the end of last year.
Earlier this year they were scouting for a Warehouse. I don't believe they are going to launch an amazon.ie (it will likely always redirect to uk), but they will have their warehouse here for Irish stock.
That surely must have something to do with the way that they are sorting orders for here. I guess they thought the warehouse/fulfillment centre would be up and running long before now, but because of covid they had a massive setback. I am getting fairly fast deliveries from Germany with 3rd party (as mentioned before) - so if priority is important, it might be worth trying them. Also, the price has worked out roughly the same for me with German VAT and the shipping, as buying from the UK with Irish VAT added and exchange rate.

that is pretty normal for the last month or so. things take a week or more to dispatch and get delivered 2-3 days after that.

Just cancelled my Prime, they are a fricking joke at the moment, even customer service has gone down the toilet. The excuses are only hilarious.

Latest fiasco is I have a parcel (containing birthday present) ordered on the 6th sitting in Longford DSU since last wednesday that should have been delivered in Cork, An Post explained the box has two address labels, no problem just ask amazon call them on their 'dedicated helpline' to tell them which is correct and will be delivered next day. Several attempts with different customer support staff later I had to give up told them to refund and cancel my prime.

Delivery timeframes seem to have improved a little for me. If I order now delivery is 8 days rather than 10.

7 days now. When it gets to the stage where I can order at the weekend and have it by Friday I'll be happy enough.

Argued with Amazon for 20 minutes yesterday again to have a robot copy and paste the propaganda from the uk version of the prime page into the chat. Lost cause.

So have decided on an experiment to compare transit time with using addresspal.

I ordered the One Plus 8 from amazon last night to my Dublin address (it said estimated delivery is Friday the 3rd of July).

It turns out, I need the phone asap now, so I've cancelled my order and reordered it using the Northern Irish address on Parcel Motel with an estimated delivery date of Monday (to the belfast location, it'll be interesting to see how fast parcel motel get it to Dublin).

Plus, going from 23% vat to 20% vat has saved me £15 which more than offsets the parcel motel cost.

Update: item delivered to Addresspal less than 18 hours after it was ordered.

AP yet to so much as acknowledge its existence. Is that normal?
I've only ever used Addresspal from the US.
