Excuse me , where the hel ldid you get that from my posts ?
We are discussing how 2m SD went to1m and is still safe.
Masks would of course be if SD was reduced or done away with elsewhere as well
I read your post. That's where I got it from.
You said public mask wearing could be made mandatory. I explained that this can't happen in bars, cafes, etc, even if the distance is 1m.

Never said that so you most definitely don't need to explain anything of the sort
Not the question that was being posed, but thank you for your input .
Of course masks would be essential in my opinion, if SD were to be done away with or reduced further IN OTHER ENVIRONMENTS as stated in the post .ie public
But it begs the question should the SD be reduced further , in areas where you CANNOT wear a mask?

Kerry had 2 new cases today - prob be reported in figures tomorrow for data up to 16th / 17th. They went 29/30 days without a case.

Yeah. I think Germany has been very lax in general. People don't give a **** anymore. Especially at the weekend there was good weather. Crowds everywhere. Germany can tolerate 6000 cases per day for 7 days before shutdown must happen. Let's see how it goes.

It was smart response so I responded similarly .
    Fair enough , sorted .

Apparently there was a busload of workers who went to Poland and Romania too last weekend. Christ, what a sh*t-show.

The company speculatively blamed workers from Romina and Bulgaria
For traveling home because of the bank holiday weekend.
But official investigators casted doubt on the companies speculation due to the lack of and less case's been reported in both Romina and Bulgaria in the area's for where the workers had ment to have returned home too and cast doubts on the time frame of travel for the Romain worker's.
Instead sighting there cramped living conditions and over crowding in dormitories provided by the company as the main area of spread and none compliance of covid health and safety in the factory.

I'm not looking for the details of who is involved, but any idea of the circumstances that would cause new cases to appear 30 days later? Travel?

So resurgence in Germany, China, USA, brazil (although to be fair it didn’t really stop rising in Brazil)
High number of cases in India, Russia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, South Africa, Bangladesh- all over 4K cases today.
So we start opening up and reduce SD in our pubs.
What happens when people from any of the above countries take a trip to Ireland, or even infect someone in a different country who comes to Ireland.
We end up with a resurgence.
The sooner the better we get this vaccine or adequate treatment using antibodies.

Germany partialy attributed to a slaughterhouse outbreak, local controls put in place now as per the German framework to deal with outbreaks.

That’s Sligo and Kerry knocked off the leaderboard, gah what a mess.

Wonder whether it was circulating asymptomatically, someone didn’t bother getting tested, or someone brought it in.

What is the story with slaughterhouses ? All over the world they are a high spread environment .

Germany is a slaughterhouse outbreak, local controls put in place now as per the German framework to deal with outbreaks.

1797 cases in Germany. 657 cases down to slaughterhouse. That leaves 1140 cases from outside the slaughterhouse. Yesterday’s was 390.
It’s a big jump regardless of that slaughterhouse

I booked a few days away today, in Ireland. Hesitated over when to go, maybe September or October I thought initially. Changed it to early July. Things going well now may as well make the most of it. If no return or resurgence, can get away again, but if **** hits the fan ill have had the break.

While I’m sure tourist spots are haemorrhaging money, I still feel a little guilty about leaving riddled Dublin to visit a far-less riddled county outside the pale.

Jaysus you're a brave man. A few months ago any Dubliner outside his turf would've gotten the wicker man treatment off the angry locals.

I’ve a few days booked in august so I’m hoping **** doesn’t hit the fan before than.
People will not tolerate a lockdown again regional or otherwise, so unfortunately the spread will just increase this time.

But there must be other production lines in multiple factories that don’t seem to have the same spread as slaughterhouses ?

I wonder when services like the Dublin coach will be back? Was on their website and the last update was a month ago.

Probably not until the travel restrictions are lifted, it wouldn't make much sense for commercial operators to drive around empty.

They’re practically large fridges and lots of noise and heavy stuff, making people shout and exert themselves more. Also it seems lots of workers live together in cramped housing.

Unfortunately after the news today of the VFI getting the distance down to1 m , after pressure and lobbying , we may soon be helpless in the face of uncertainty ,as you say.
If this is in accordance with public health advice, why stop there?
This decision needs to be explained to all of us who have followed the advice and worked hard to get the numbers down .

Yeah that will be unlikely unfortunately. Hopefully it’ll be grand.

From what I seen in the past they stand closer together in parts of a slaughter house than your normal factory doing electronics for example.

The Financial Times have a good article on 'How slaughterhouses became breeding grounds for coronavirus' and why Denmark seems to have avoided the same problem.

"The sector has traditionally relied on cheap migrant labour brought in by subcontractors to remain competitive. Working up to 60 hours a week, the migrants live seven to eight per the accommodation provided by subcontracting agencies — conditions that one European meat company executive privately acknowledged was “modern slavery”.

There was no confirmed cases in the hospital yesterday as per the HSE report. I reckon they are possibly transfers / not new cases.

Doesn't look to be any HSE report tonight... bit late now.
