In fairness were talking about damage after being ill with a virus , not someone who has been drinking to excess for a long time , for whatever reason.

Also to reply to posts earlier about planes and infection..
This virus is as far as is known is not commonly spread by aerosols ,although in a still air environment it is possible .
It is more commonly spread by infection from touching surfaces with droplets of the virus on them, or by direct spray from someone coughing, sneezing and shouting and expelling droplets forcefully .
Hence the reason for distancing and regular cleaning of surfaces .
If an airline is not trying to seat passengers at a safe distance apart , or does not clean surfaces after every flight , it is not safe to fly with them at the present time.
Not unless you clean every surface you use yourself eg handles, seat backs, trays , belts .

Damage that’s very rare so i’d be more worried about booze wrecking my liver than hiding in my wardrobe until 2025 incase i catch the virus and it going to wreck my liver to be honest.

The thread is full of what ifs.

Surely the 1.7m figure is at a push the answer to 'have you ever worn a face mask in public'?

Was all around Dublin city centre today, saw thousands of people, at most 1 in 20 had a face mask on but that would be a very generous estimate, it was probably more like 1 in 50 people or even 1 in 100

On public transport and supermarkets and other enclosed places there is relatively high numbers wearing them though like 1 in 5 people I would say

I guess it really depends where you are. In my area of Dublin I’m seeing very few in masks at all, yet my sister mentioned she went to Lidl in a town in Galway and they saw one person not wearing a mask, in a relatively busy shop. I felt out of place in my local super valu wearing one, only saw one other person wearing one.

This is why we have to wear masks, try to distance and keep to small groups..

Luke ONeill on Clair Byrne tonight reckons it’s looking good for an antibody therapy to be ready for as early as August. Will be a complete game changer . We will be in coopers yet this Xmas lads !

Why do you not want to hear this ?
This is what happens with those seriously ill with this virus.
These are post mortem results so you think it's not true?

Not at all, unlike some I don't frighten easily but these are some post mortem results not all.
The way some behave here one would be forgiven for thinking the virus is fatal to all who catch it. It's not.

There's pictures of the lung they took out of the 27 year old woman with Covid who had the transplant doing the rounds. I won't post it here because it is shocking, but people can find it pretty easily.

Is this the ground glass lung condition that has been discussed by many health experts?

It's realistic to expect an antibody treatment within a few months. It's going to be expensive, and they'll have to manufacture it so it'll be in short supply. But it's easy to test and trials are underway already.

Antibody treatment first which will help some people and protect front-line staff, with hopefully a vaccine following which can be given to the general population.

I see Brazil has plateaued, so that's not exploding with new cases. And it's certainly not growing exponentially like the doomsdayers would have you believe.

Not even close to plateauing there. If you believe that you are completely mistaken.

Brilliant article from Bloomberg about the plan for vaccines, in particular the astrazeneca/Oxford collaboration. Their prospective vaccine won't stop you catching the virus but it'll instead dull it's potency. It sounds like other vaccines in the future will iron out any other wrinkles. Brilliant stuff.

Not really, this is actual severe physical scarring, not an x-ray.

So about one in three are wearing masks supposedly?

I'd be surprised if it's one in ten from what I've seen

The fact they already know this is really good. Mightn't be that far away. I'd take it no bother if it was like the common cold.

I appreciate you giving the information. But i was just saying i think there’s no point worrying about the virus damaging the liver because even though possible it’s highly unlikely. I’m entitled to express that opinion on here so it’s up to you how you take it also.

It's mostly for medical staff to give them short term immunity (3-5 weeks) when working with Covid patients, mABs are notoriously expensive and difficult to produce in volume.

They are also used as a much safer and more available alternative to convalescent plasma, so can be given earlier in the course of the disease to more patients.

While mABs are awesome, they're not the end all for this, unfortunately. Some people will still succumb to this even with a full dosage of those mABs.

The way the disease kills most people is by the virus disregulating the initial immune response (the virus tries to hide from it) causing a severe overreaction from some parts and a very weak or non-existent reaction from other parts of the immune system.
The mABs need to be administered before this immune system collapse happens (the earlier the better), same with antiviral drugs.

Yes due to the complete and utter shambles policies by Bolsanaro and who now is desperately scrambling to cover his ass.

Yes but it's unfair to say people are scaremongering when they are just stating either facts or their own opinion.
Let's leave that to the" restrictions " thread , please.

That lad also suggested a moate filled with alligators and snakes, and using a nuclear bomb to divert a hurricane

I doubt anyone, within his own government even remotely took that stop testing suggestion seriously

I would be very sceptical. Sounds like a scam. There is a mad rush to get a vaccine out there, a lot of money to be made. The pressure to release ineffective vaccines is huge.

Where did i say you were scaremongering? I was just stating facts liver damage is rare due to Covid 19. Seems you didn’t like my post stating that fact for some reason.
