Funny you never put good newspaper stories up in bold, I wonder why?

I would have more faith in the Chinese and Russians to be publishing accurate numbers than the Brazilians with that gobchite in charge

He's even said that they wouldn't bother counting. I think that one went to court but I still wouldn't trust their figures.

A 'plateau' of about 1000 deaths a day in a country the size of Brazil is as bad as it possibly could get especially considering the average Brazilian is about 30 years old. The situation in Brazil could not be construed as a positive one no matter what way you try to spin it

Was it not George W Bush who asked whether a Brazilian was more than a million but less than a billion?

What miracle cure? Seems like you have insider info.

Surely the 1.7m figure is at a push the answer to 'have you ever worn a face mask in public'?

Was all around Dublin city centre today, saw thousands of people, at most 1 in 20 had a face mask on but that would be a very generous estimate, it was probably more like 1 in 50 people or even 1 in 100

On public transport and supermarkets and other enclosed places there is relatively high numbers wearing them though like 1 in 5 people I would say

This is a discussion board both sides should get a hearing. This thread has turned from educational to certain posters simply trying to shut down debate in 99% of their posts. The bullying of one poster is truly pathetic and the moderator lack of action even moreso. Thank you to the few posters from both sides of the argument posting good info and analysis.

    This.
I brought this up yesterday and got smart arse replies.
Just let people voice their opinions and their interpretation of the facts without ganging up on people.

Do you disagree that there are a number of posters who come on here to scaremonger?

Not to speak for who you quoted but that's your interpretation of it. Perhaps said posters spend time looking at news and researching. It would be like accusing those who post good news of not caring about the seriousness of the virus at its peak. It's not healthy for discussion to be shut down in this way and I'm glad it doesn't happen at government level in Ireland by the looks of things.

There are some that present facts that people don’t want to entertain so the group on here shut them down and tell them to stop scaremongering.
Is it scaremongering or sharing facts?
I believe it’s sharing facts, they might be unpalatable, but they are facts none the less.

There's pictures of the lung they took out of the 27 year old woman with Covid who had the transplant doing the rounds. I won't post it here because it is shocking, but people can find it pretty easily.

Citizen, not that it matters, but I think you bring a nice balance to this thread and you have informative posts. However there is a certain posse that seem to shut down certain posters when the slightest bit of (what others think) realism is mentioned. That’s not on it’s a public forum

Maybe it's just me but I see news articles posted in bold on pretty much any forum I go on to mark out that it's a news story rather than the poster typing it. But you got 3 thanks for this so I must be imagining things.

Both the UK and New York State today reported the fewest deaths in a day since lockdown measures were introduced

I appreciate that but bias towards negative news articles when there are clearly people using this thread to get information is not on either. This is supposed to be the main thread on here, yet the negativity that overflows it some days is genuinely unbearable sometimes.

Good to keep trying to scare people though, isn't it?

Is it too graphic for you?
Why do you not want to hear this ?
This is what happens with those seriously ill with this virus.
These are post mortem results so you think it's not true?

In the past for sure I agree it was completely overly negative to the point it was not a productive discussion or balanced source of news at all. But in the last few weeks any news posted from around the world which does not relate to how few cases Ireland is now reporting daily is not just dismissed but those posters are also attacked. And of course it is important to acknowledge the great feat accomplished by Ireland but the rest of the world is now going through an almost uncontrolled period of case growth as their lockdowns have ended but transmission has not, these countries will remain as threats of reintroduction of community spread to Ireland for a long time to come, discussions about what's going on outside Europe should not be dismissed just because they are not positive news currently.
