What the Fock does that mean? Doesn’t make sense. These cases are not increases. Right so the. By that logic the numbers are not as good as we’ve thought the last week.
Dr Tony Holohan, Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health, said; “Today’s increase in notifications of Covid-19 is not an increase in the daily incidence of the disease. When the cases are analysed according to the date the samples were taken, it shows that they were spread out over a number of days. All the indicators of the disease are stable or reducing. We will continue to closely monitor these every day.”

Correct. The numbers in the last 6 days now read 9,9, 19, 20, 23, 24

The 9 and 9 were probably an under representation of what the real numbers were. It sounds like 20-25 daily was the real figure this week (which is still extremely low).

Total number for the 6 days = 104 cases. Same period last week total = 139 cases. 35 cases less this week.

224 cases last week by my count. 120 less cases this week.

I was calculating it over the same 6 days as last week for a direct comparison. Without doubt it’s declining.

I think we need to be fairly clear that anything less than 150 weekly cases is really fantastic at this point in time

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,134 ✭✭✭caveat emptor

    Great cases are going down.
Bad that we are continuing to not count accurately and timely.
Really bad that UK seems to be disintegrating with open race war going on.
More worrying what’s happening in Beijing.

Dealing with lots of suppliers coming into the city.

Florida, Texas, Arizona and California and 19 other states are now joined by Nevada in the acceleration of spread in the US. That makes 24 states now in a state of advance of Coronavirus according to the New York Times.

    DHHS_CASES.jpg?w=696&ssl=1

Interesting at the acceleration in those states in June which would have a warmer climate, mean while NZ and Australia are in winter and most of the new cases Australia have are travellers in hotel quarantine who brought it in from other countries.

Funny how it's now a meat market or produce market or seafood market but not a wet market...(there is no evidence this is a wet market but selling meat...)

Some guy who studies virus pandemics said they will be coming quicker and more virulent - the Chinese are making sure his predictions come true

Wouldn't surprise me if we end up with another new coronavirus short thrift

19 weeks ago today, in thread #1

Hahaha. On another forum, I posted about my fears of a global pandemic occurring towards the end of January and was lambasted for being a scaremonger er by the entire population of said forum. Makes for interesting reading retrospectively!

Infected fish fillet? Blame Uncle Sam. Solid strategy. From the thread it’s based on fact worker who filleted the fish may have been infected and contaminated it as opposed to catching it from the fish.still not great.

Nowhere in that report does it mention salmon from the US - in fact it was fish from another market. Clickbait tweet

Looking at the stats, it has nearly flown under the radar that Ireland is one of the least infected countries in Europe at the moment.

No country is recording 'no new cases' and Ireland is actually ahead of most of them this week in keeping new numbers extremely low.

The stat which concerns me is that 30% of infections are healthcare workers. That seems incredibly high. I think it is 19% in the US for example and it was much less even in Wuhan. But nothing is being said about it.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...

That is because we have very little community cases/never had many community infections - they are skewing the percentage figures. Everything we did contained the virus to certain professions/areas

What is the US's community infection numbers?

It's very high, but "nothing is being said" is not true - it's been reported several times over the past two or three months. And that's why the state is spending a lot of money and effort for PPE, testing, etc.

    Yeah true.

Although it does say imported salmon. So Chinese are pointing at importation of virus via foodstuffs. Whether it’s bollox or not is another matter.

Hopefully it’s not our finest farmed salmon. Not like we’ve had any issues with meat plants.
Novel coronavirus was detected on a chopping board for imported salmon at Xinfadi market,

Much of the recent sudden surge in southern US states is because of citizens living in Mexico returning home for treatement because hospitals there are completely overwhelmed

The number has been reported which is good but I haven't heard much analysis of why it is so high compared to other countries.

I guess finally the government is waking up. I know people working in care facilities and regional hospitals who are not even wearing regular face masks.

That makes sense, its growth is mainly from travel and not the cold.

    Meh.
WHO detected covid in samples provided by Tanzania president. Tanzania President John Magufuli secretly sent specimens from a papaya, quail, and goat to a lab testing for the COVID-19 coronavirus disease in humans — and the results came back positive. :D

It wasn't WHO, but their national lab - they bought **** quality testing kits. This guy also think prayers can vanquish the "satanic virus", so that's the level of intelligence you are dealing with. So if you want to laugh at the WHO, please use don't use Tanzania as a funny example.

Clubbing is out for a while I'm afraid.

Oddly enough, schools and childcare facilities are missing from those clusters.
Gyms are also on the low side.

Vast majority of index cases were presymptomatic or fully asymptomatic.

They did shutdown all the wet markets (in this region anyway) - and to give the numbers context, this market has 10000 employees...
