    The m3 is £5k cheaper isn't it??

I like that colour scheme and the spec is very good too.

Yes the Kildare one, I was thinking of Morrisons 60k one, that's 58k before you beat them down.

It's a fantastic looking car and goes like the clappers..

Is it just me and a sign of my age, but I can't warm to any of those cars posted with the black alloys? New m340 with the silver alloys is different league versus the other two recent ones posted.

Wallin I understand your hankering for a change of direction but I think that a new model 530d is probably the best choice for you all things considered.yes slightly down on power but a different world in terms of the f10.cabin , technology etc and a fabulous drive.
An m3 sounds great but difficult to live with everyday , running costs , ride, security Etc.
I get the petrol thing though as it obviously fllows through the veins !
Wish you luck in your search .

I've been looking at the G30 530d's as well and they are at a nice price range now. You could get a nice well specced model for under €40k. Big jump in interior quality and technology from the f10. The m3 would be nice but you're right, expensive to run and maintain. I'd probably tire of it very quickly with constant stop offs at the pumps!

Jesus that is savage. I've seen that before but never watched the video. Fully loaded too. That's a one off car. Running costs would be brutal though.

Yes and top rate of motor tax too. Some depreciation too if it did cost 190k 3 years ago.

Depending on the driving you do, you can easily get >400km a tank out of an M3. They're not bad at all from a fuel perspective. Nowhere near a diesel, but who wants a diesel really.

I think you should take M3/4 for a test drive to get a feel and get it out of your system. I agree it may be a tiring car to own and will definitely come with bigger bills than other peformance cars.
    M340i

    https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/202003118296361?radius=1500&advertising-location=at_cars&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=Used&postcode=ml12de&model=3%20SERIES&aggregatedTrim=M340i&make=BMW&sort=price-asc&page=4

This is my fave combination on the m340i.
Tanzanite blue. This one has all the packs but is one of the pricier ones.
I hate the black wheels on the shadowline too, I definitely think it's an age thing. Don't love the cerium either but a black grille would improve things.
I reckon these cars are going to be mid to low thirties sterling in the UK before year end or next year. Problem may be Brexit if imports gone and we can't bring them in.

A 530d loaded may be a good suggestion too Wailin but it will definitely be more of the same from what you are used too. I do love the comfort and luxury feeling of the 5.
I suppose if you can sell your own privately it puts you in the best position but also puts a gun to your head to do something.

The 3 definitely needs the black grills for me, that grill is just ugly otherwise. I still haven't warmed to the styling of the new 3 but the interior is nice.

530d is an option but your right, pretty much the same as what I have. I noticed that one bazz linked for €50k is now dropped to €48k. Still way over priced. I enquired about the spec of that car. Just being nosey as to why it was so pricey. It doesn't even have the tech or comfort pack.

That's gorgeous, much prefer the colour combination there. And the chrome grilles are a win for me, too. I must be one of the few BMW enthusiasts who prefers the chrome in them. Also, looks to be on 18s so it will be better over the bumps.

Looks like just another 3 series, that nardo grey one is much nicer, you'd know it's not an M3 but it's destincitive enough to know it's not a normal 3 series.

Conlan's in Limerick have a 2018 530d M Sport xDrive for the same money:

    https://www.carsireland.ie/detail.php?ad_id=2552550&r=s.php%3Fm%3D10%26o%3D87%26r%3D2018%26pp%3D50%26g%3D2

No photos but it seems to be well speced. I didn't see when I was in there last week getting new wipers so it might be not traded yet until the owner's new car arrives. I've only ever dealt with their Limerick garage and found they were never competitive when it came to sales and never bothered ringing back to try and close the gap or push for the sale. They might move to their Kildare garage if you wanted a test drive closer to home though.

Have bought cars new and used from them in the past but have found the same in the last few years.
Their pricing was miles off on the x5 a few months back and they are slow to answer queries or chase the business.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,447 ✭✭✭Wailin

That one doesn't have the vis pack which is essential for me. Just transforms the front end of the car.

I was only in there last week getting new wipers and the showroom was empty, not a single customer. I was there for a good 30 mins and nobody came through the door except to go to the service desks which in fairness I always find them good. I know different ends of the market but I went to a few showrooms the week before with my dad and most were busy enough with people in looking and inquiring.

A few more here but I don't like those M Performance wheels myself:

These "dealers" don't inspire me with confidence either, are they the same crowd trading under different names or is this industrial estate in Naas some sort of holy land for these pop up type dealerships?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,447 ✭✭✭Wailin

That second one ticks all the boxes for colour combo and spec, apart from those ridiculous m decals on the side skirts. But I hear ya about dealing with such a place. I actually enquired about that car, asking about warranty and service history but got no response.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,630 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Yeah it all appears very suspicious, at least to my gut instincts. I'd be treating them as a private sale really where some of these places might not be around in 6 months time or trading under different names. That's a fair chunk of change to be spending on a private sale given those cars are probably out of BMW warranty at this point too.

I love this thread, it’s certainly kept me entertained over the past few months.
I think when buying a used car it’s virtually impossible to get your perfect spec, particularly when it’s a less common performance model and you have a particular spec. I’ve been looking for a car for the last while and did a deal on one this week, it’s the spec I wanted but not the colour as I just couldn’t find one for the price I was willing to pay. Sometimes I only think the perfect spec car exists on the configurator.
Moral of the story, if you get close to perfect don’t let it go.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess S3 from audi in cork, it disappeared very quick someone was waiting for that spec.

    A M140i Shadow Edition.

I should have said a Snapper Rocks Blue 440i

Nearly certain that 2 of those cars were being advertised circa 12 months ago when I bought my own.

The photos were in the same location too. Always cars with the additional M-Sport kit and those wheels.

    Where you getting it from?
What spec? A manual I presume.
Did you trade in the 7?

Buying in the U.K. I’d a buyer for my old car and an automatic. I’ve a bad back and an auto helps a lot. Pro Nav, HK sound but no adaptive suspension.

I drove by Bolands today. Looked to be fairly well stocked. Tried to see if I could spot the 440i but couldn't.

If size wasn't an issue Wailin would you have looked at the M140i ? Think I'd have one before the 3 or 4 series

Cheers, I hope so as I’ve never driven one. My wife had a 120d msport a few years ago and I loved driving it so I reckon this with twice the power and that engine should be awesome.
