Little Britain was an awful show, I never understood it's popularity.
Most sketches seemed to be based around bodily fluids....with "hilarious" consequences.....

Good news, I've just checked and the league of gentlement is still available on BBC iPlayer.

And the black character that's "white-faced" is done so by a moon-Nazi doctor in an attempt to "Aryanize" him.

I'm not making any point, just you don't often see the brilliance that is Iron Sky (with a soundtrack by the undisputed best band in the world: Laibach) discussed in public, and I felt like joining in.

Yes, it is co-incidentally in my small pile of DVDs to be re-watched in the next week.

Didn't expect much of it but it's quite funny, watched Justice League the next night and was not impressed.

It's all about context. Papa Lazarou is a very obvious grotesque caricature of a minstrel and not merely an example of a white actor pretending to be a black character. There's a big difference between that and Matt Lucas or David Walliams dressing up as grotesque caricatures of actual black or Asian people.

Was anyone pissed off by Tropic Thunder? I remember plenty of black comedians defending it. I'll hazard a guess that a lot of the people outraged over it were outraged on someone else's behalf.

I support this as it means RTE can get Twink the fu*k off the Telly for good.

This is from The Live Mike a few years back.

Oh look... It's hatred to realise that anything a white person does can be consider racist.

****... I owned a gollywog. ****, I thought packie Bonners name was funny when I was a kid.

You are a racist if you think you are better than someone else based on the colour of your skin or ethnicity.

    That is it.

I'm not a racist because you have happen to be offended more easily than most.

Race hate happens because of people like you.

I don’t remember there being any outrage about it. I do remember not finding it that funny the 1st time I watched it. It’s one that gets better the more you watch it.

The same, can't put my finger on it. Anchorman was also better on second viewing.

The only way to purge your shame and restore your honour is to ritually disembowel yourself before the minister for justice and equality lops off your head.

Somewhere there's a photo of a 24/5 yo cj maxx in Rasta gear with a mop on his head ( ala dreads) and smoking massive cone joint. I really hope it never gets out :(

    Outrage culture;

Nothing new... condescending assholes just stroking their faux morality ego, and getting validation from their echo chambers, to feel good about themselves.

No one should be condemned for doing it when it happened years ago. Things change. Things are different.

That said no excuse for doing it now.

    Ooooh Aaaah Paul McGrath

I'm guessing that is two days in the PC stocks for me.
The black pearl of Inchicore. I would like to apologise for my racial profiling immediately, I'm sure that Paul McGrath would be very upset if he reads boards. What a player.

A film that depicts racists as backward and thick is going to be deleted from existence.

What is the logic behind that statement?

I remember my brother dressing up as B.A. Baracus for halloween in 1980 or '81. He got a mask in Hector Grey's, and wore a length of gold xmas tinsel as the bling. I pity the fool now.

A post I made before sorry for the repeat but you made me think of it :)

My daughter wanted to be Moana one Halloween of late. Being possibly one of the palest skin girls in Ireland she happily used things to make her go down 1000 shades of brown to something akin to the film. The world did not end and not a single person of any skin colour protested or batted an eye lid.

Online however - I ended up reading articles about people getting seriously triggered by kids dressed up as Moana and other costumes that required darkening skin. And even where the kids did not change their skin - sure they got offended anyway because of the "cultural appropriation" one they use when they can't find the black faces.

Once again showing me that when you turn off the computer and go out into the real world - none of this culture of offence seems to be in evidence. The twittersphere and places like it really are a new world separate from my own - which is probably why I never signed up for it.

    Our species is weird.

I've seen you try to make that joke more than nine times now and not once has it made me laugh. It's not a good joke because ....

    No pun in ten did

If you're trying to impersonate someone who is black, then there's no ****ing problem with it. If this is the rule then we should cancel all the comedians who tan themselves to mimic Donald Trump's skin orange-glow. It's a pathetic thing to be complaining about.
