They'd have bought it off BMW Ireland? They might need the guts of 45k to make it worthwhile perhaps.
It was 2019 when they bought it?

It's well priced at 45k for a cash sale. It's the whole trade in bullsh1t that's the issue. I was looking on auto trader last night and you couldn't get a 2018 440i over for 45k.

Down to 27k now. Doubt I'll get better than that from them. But I'll hold off anyway.

The attitude and your experience reminds me of dealing with BMW dealers in Dublin in the past.It is painful to have to put up with the arrogant attitude and the piss take low ball offers.
You arrive in an enthusiasts car, a 535d well looked after, looking to view a 440i, a car for a car person and they treat you like you don't know anything about the value of cars.
However, taking all that aside I actually think if they blink and you could get into it for 25k after haggling you would be doing ok provided you want it of course.
It is a 80k plus car with no mileage to speak of and a two year warranty and I assume a service pack for 100000km. I am not trying to persuade you into buying but you are not a million miles away from a reasonable deal in my view.
looking around at the increasing prices of cars these days the figures to change are just getting higher and higher. A mid spec toyota rav 4 is 45k nowadays for example!

No you're right, it's not too far off what I expected initially. I think it's a pretty good deal to come up 4 years to a car that's barely broke in for 25k. I had a look at the spec again and it's not base spec certainly. It has the digital dash, sports seats with memory and adjustable bolsters (found them great), adaptive suspension, adaptive led lights, merino leather and it does have the extended bluetooth and wireless charging where I initially thought it didn't. No reverse camera or folding mirrors is a bit stingy though. The B58 engine is the biggest factor though of course.

If I was to get 23 or 24 for my own in a private sale then I'd be looking at about 22k to change. The bad taste in the mouth from putting up with the bullsh1t has taken the shine off it. I'll wait awhile and see how it pans out.

If it's any consolation, a girl in work has had a horrendous time with Bolands over a Mini bought new from them and clutch issues. No goodwill offered or anything and very unhelpful even getting the car to the dealership.

I actually don't know how they still have the franchise to be honest. Murphy and Gunn were closed and had a loyal customer base and good reputation. Yet these guys get constant complaints without repercussion it seems.

Earlier this year I was getting costs to change of 25k to go from a 141 A6 S Line black edition with 80k kms to a 181 530e msport, like for like value cars when new more or less, ballpark high 50s.

In my case it was 39k for the 530e and 14k for my own.

Realistically a 60k car goes to close to zero in 10 or 12 years so 5k a year average but higher in first 5 years than from years 5 to 10.
So somewhere around 6-7k a year is fair enough on this kind of class in my opinion.

The bad taste thing is the issue though, and it's completely avoidable by them. How a price can move by 9k so quickly is unforgivable nearly. If they took their time and came back with that offer initially, including rational about your trade in value etc, and explained how well they will look after you and give you time to think about it etc then you would prob be much more positive about the idea of changing. Then call you mid next week as see what you think, throw in a set of mud flaps and half a tank and jobs a good un.

BMW dealers sound like the biggest bunch of w&nkers. On the opposite end of the scale we went in to book a service on the Mrs car today. It's a 181 Ibiza FR she bought new but had the 60k PCP mileage limit exceeded so we enquired about a deal. Ended up putting a deposit down on a 202 Ateca FR 1.5TSi. It's on 0% finance and we got 75% back on what we paid for the Ibiza 2.5 years ago. It's making the new car very affordable

    Who you dealing with?

I've bought 2 Seats in last 2 years.
One off Blackwater fermoy, other off Albert Berry motors.

I've also been into Brady's Blanch and Conachy.

Been massively impressed with all 4 and in particular Berry's.

Been into 4 or 5 VW and Skoda garages too for the father in law. Western Motors pick of the bunch. One VW had bit of an attitude....

Yup..... It's 25% of the initial price to change...... Mental variation.

It's almost like a good cop bad cop scenario with them. The pr1ck I was dealing with was aggressive and arrogant. The fella who rang today was apologetic and humble. Ffs, you couldn't make it up.

Yeah, it's like they were playing a game - give you a ridiculous initial price then ring you later with a lower price to make you think the lower price is fair.

I gpt my fill of bmw dealers when browsing for a new 330e a few years back.
I can away from one thinking - do i really come across as such an idiot that they could sit there with straight faces asking for mental money - and i was doing a straight purchase!

With hindsight, I think they did you a favour with their incompetence. 330e is a great car, But not a good new car purchase.

With regards to bolands sales tactics, they are pathetic and infuriating in this day and age.

If you’re interested in the car Wailin, insist on dealing with the manager who contacted you and can make a decision. Focus on the car and the deal. If it’s for you it’ll work out, if not there will be more cars.

While they all look bad. White makes it look even worse if that’s possible.

They couldn't even make them look well in photoshopped promotional material so I'm not surprised they look that bad in reality.

    Terrible looking, just awful

However, an aftermarket bumper and smaller grilles could save it, nice market there for someone to make a mint

These don’t look good, no number plates and ****ty alloys don’t help either though. I’ve seen a few pics of ones that I could live with but I wouldn’t be ordering one of the above.

Those grills remind me of nostrils. Grotesque.

Relying on a number plate to improve the front of a car is not a good place to be.

I agree. But I just saw a video of a black one with black grille surrounds and an msport and it looked okay... ish

Those look like SE models in pics above and look absolutely horrendous.

The white and blue one are M-Sport I’d say and the black bog standard se which we’re not getting.
In fairness that’s probably the worst angle to look at them but they’re not winning any beauty contests.
I specced a m sport pro version on the U.K. configurator the other night in dravit grey and it looked good I thought.

Bolands come crawling back to you yet Wailin?

Was in Conlan's today picking up my last set of wiper blades before my BMW First subscription is cancelled and the showroom was empty. The service desk was tipping away but there was absolutely nobody in looking at cars.

Any offers on your own privately? I've seen the ad and it's a great looking car. My sister is trying to sell her 3 series to come up a few years, it's a 9-10k car at best and there just doesn't seem to be any interest out there at the minute. She's been offered 6k in a trade in, she might end up taking it that if she get's no interest.
