Placed in the single digits myself but haven't heard a word from them in months. I was worried it was never going to move (still holding hope). Best of luck with it.

Which county are you in? This is the 1st movement on the Clare comp since supervised assessments. It’s a very slow process.

Cork, but applied for Clare as one of my selections (long story). Best of luck with it SAHM2017. I haven't had an interview yet so I was giving up hope. Just glad to see it moving.

This is brilliant news, no movement for Clare since I sat the supervised tests in February 2019 - I thought it was over though I was placed high also.

I wonder how many they interviewed for Clare starting off?

Not a Clue Alan, I was 4th after supervised tests and the interviews were held over 2 days so 12/15 maybe?

I know there have been 7 interviewed from the Open Stream and 2 from Interdepartmental. Great to see things moving forward!!

Zoom interview was probably strange at the start though?

I was told at the end of last week the panel is due to expire in September, and that a new competition will be advertised in the near future....

Waiting a long time to be called even those placed high in the county panels and to be told that is a real kick in the teeth after travelling to Dublin etc.

So many months have passed without activity and the panel expiration date gets brought forward too..Tough times

I thought the panel would have ran into early next year, some counties seemed to have had some movement in last 2-3 weeks, maybe in preparation for the new competition being announced......

Did you hear this from PAS? The Dublin one is due to expire August so they may be running a new one for the whole country instead of two separate ones similar to how they ran the CO competition this time.

I know my county did start interviews until November so panel wasn’t in place until that point so it’s less than 6 months old now. They had been using previous panel (2016) until that point. It’s not a small county and does have movement so a lot of people would have had a reasonable chance of being placed and will have had the expense of two trips to Dublin for a panel lasting less than a year.

I emailed PAS for an update. They replied and said stated panel will expire in September and to keep an eye out for new competition which will be advertised in the near future. I didn't enquire about Dublin, so assume it's the Nationwide panel which will expire.

Panel was only set up 1 year ago and Covid has left it at a standstill. People in batch 1 not even interviewed yet . Dublin 2018 EO panel is still going. So can see this going well into 2021.

I emailed PAS and was told the same thing as I was told back in January. Panel set to expire in January 2021.

What is with the conflicting responses from PAS?

Could have been confusion between panel end dates due to human error? Dublin comp is due soon and it’d be an easy mistake to make when in a rush.

Its likely they meant the Dublin panel for September (with Nationwide following in January)

Or, both panels will expire together and they will just run one single campaign.

So regional candidates shortchanged again. Complete waste of time and effort. Panel will run for only 15 months at that rate.

I think they see a recruitment embargo coming. Might explain why the 2020 clerical campaign was advertised as a 1 year panel. Think im done with PAS

Must be the shortest EO campaign ever. And with Covid and all, grossly unfair to candidates.

In fairness to PAS I would think it’s due to problems filling Dublin positions.
People in two panels either holding out for regional and not accepting from Dublin panels or accepting Dublin then subsequently accepting from regional panel and the vacancy arising again in Dublin. With one panel people either accept Dublin and lose their other location option or turn down Dublin and only have the other county.

It is a disgrace if this panel does not run until at least March/April next year.

from previous memory the last two panels ran to April, Really unfair to close panel in September. The majority of panels barely moved

Pas are not subject to interference from T.D.’S so not much point. They can end panels whenever they wish and they could easily argue that advertising in Jan 2019 and closing in Sept 2020 is fair. Obviously any of us waiting will feel different but they do use old panels whilst awaiting the creation of the next so could easily be recruiting from this until Christmas.

    Update for Clare:

    Received this response today.

We have so far called up to the order of merit of 7 at present for Interviews in Clare. We have no current plans to call anyone further at the moment, however if and when we do and should we reach your order of merit, we will notify you via your message board.

The panel will expire in September 2020.

So so close for me being called. Heartbroken about the panel ending so soon.

What are the odds of them calling another batch for interviews before then?

P.S. Thanks CivilCybil for confirming with PAS as well.

It is a total shambles and I have spent the last 15 months hoping to be promoted before my little one was born a month after supervised testing last FEBRUARY imagine!!

The time put in studying, travelling and everything else to be told though you are highly placed, you should look at the new competition coming soon.. Never be promoted at this rate!!

    Not for Clare though right?

Not sure. My OOM was in the late 20's after the supervised tests and I'm in batch 2.
I had my interview last August and got told my new OOM around the end of August. It's extremely slow.

I've heard nothing since then either and I did my interview in August too. My OOM after the interview was in the top 7 of batch 1.2 for Cork and I haven't heard of any movement in ages.

If the new panel is starting up again soon then I'm not even gonna bother. I'm not gonna place this high again. I'm a CO now and I entered the CO 2020 campaign as well recently to try and get moved elsewhere but I placed way way worse than I did in the CO 2018 comp and I've no idea how I did so much worse.

Figures the one year I place really high in the EO panel is the year that gets cut short.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 199 ✭✭Maestro85

I just don't understand why it was cut short just to run another campaign in a few months (if they even do that).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20 SAHM2017

Im not holding out much hope either. No wonder the panel was created so quickly - it feels very much like a paper exercise to me. Very disappointing.
